Well, I have lurked here, reading about all the Fairy Tale Weddings, about all the beautiful brides, about all the frustrations when things went wrong, and I've laughed and cried right along with many of you. I am not an avid poster on this board, being I was married in 1983!!! That sounds like so long ago. I have lived that dream wedding through many of you. Well, hubby and I have booked a cruise for our 25th Wedding Anniversary in September and we are renewing our vows on the Disney Wonder. I just spoke with Cathy at DFTW this afternoon. My reservation should be updated in the next day or two, then I'll be getting my planning booklet!!!!
I guess I should tell you a little about us. My name is Patty, I'm 43 (for now) and a Disney addict (oh wait that's another board, ). My husband Dale (46) and loves Disney probably just about as much as I do (maybe more some days!!!) We met at the beginning of my senior year of high school. He had already gone to college and was working a full time job (so mature, ).
We were married two years later. We had a nice wedding with our reception in the church hall (which was really small). There was no dancing, so we never had a 'first dance'. I couldn't complain, I was in love (and I still am)!!!
Almost 14 months after we got married, we started our family with the birth of our son. Three and a half years later, our daughter was born and three years later, our youngest son was born. We didn't have a lot of 'us' time before the kids came along.
Ok, the kids grew up, one is married, one is in college (just did the college program at Disney) and one is a junior in high school! Now, it's time for US!!!
We are celebrating our 25th anniversary in September. We had talked a little bit about a cruise on and off, but never too much. We did take a crusie in May of 2001 but it was as chaperones for the senior class trip of the school I was working at (a SMALL Christian school). I had a cabin with one girl, and poor hubby had a cabin with four other guys!!! Boy was I glad to be the girl!!! This was not a romatic trip for us, but we did have fun.
Well last week, the Travel channel had on the Disney cruise special. Right then hubby started talking about doing a cruise for our anniversary!!!!
I was so excited, I was online in while the show was still on checking out prices and staterooms. (side note: our DS1 & DIL did the Disney land and cruise for their honeymoon, boy was I jealous).
While I was looking online, some how it came out that we should renew our vows on this trip (this was of course my suggestion) and hubby thought this might be nice.
I couldn't believe my ears!!! I was planning immediately!!! We booked our cruise on Friday and I called Fairy Tale Weddings to make sure our cruise had an opening for the vow renewal and it did!!!
It will most likely just be hubby and I. There is a slight possibility that DD may be able to attend (and she'll bring a friend) as she'll be doing the College Program again and sometimes Cast Members can get great rates on left over rooms. But for now, I'll be planning just for hubby and I.
So, I guess the brings us up to date. I'll try to find some photos to post.
