Wow...Outrage over Stroller Rental Price Increase...What's that About?

Since we are now traveling there in September we will be making a purchase soon at Babies R Us or Target. They have a great Sit n Stand for $110 bucks. My youngest can ride up front, eldest can walk it and if he gets tired he can sit and get scooted around by me.

Funny thing is, I had budgeted in for our next trip (whenever that was going to be, we were still in the preliminary stages at that point) stroller rental based entirely on Disney's old fees. Which, while they were higher than I would have liked, I could have lived with. As I was pricing this next trip with the rented strollers from WDW in mind, and the recent price increase I realized there was no way we could now afford to have the stroller. For our 6 days it would have been $192. For $110 I can buy the durn thing! :rotfl:

It also helps that we are driving down and most strollers once they collapse are just the size of a large suitcase. I have been hefting one around for 5 years now, this is no different to me to do it this way. It would have been nice to have the extra space in the back of the car, but I would rather have that $82 in my pocket to pay for gas on the way down!

You know, I have been putting off geting an Owners Locker.

Starting to seem like a good time.

Dont know if the stroller would fold to fit in the box.

Maybe the guys from OL can chime in here.

For 24.98 at Target:

They also have Eeyore, Tigger, and Pooh!

Got a Piglet and Tigger for the boys for $50.

There are also several stroller rental companies in Orlando that rent baby equipment. Singles for about $75/wk, doubles about $85 for a week. You can use those outside the parks too.

I was just going to post the same. There's one company located at the Boardwalk that rents double strollers for $60. At least I thought it was double strollers. It was an ad in the allears newsletter from last week. They mentioned that deliver to your resort. Sounds like something to look in to.

I've signed up for owners locker and I really don't think a stroller will fit in there, unless it's the most compact of umbrella strollers, but I do know that OL does have a message board too, so you could ask there just to be double sure. I love the whole idea of Owner's Locker. I plan to store laundry soap, shampoo, deodorant, sunblock, bar soap, water wings, and bottled water in my OL!! It will be such a convenience not to have to drag that stuff with me.

I hate these stroller rental increase prices, but what i hate more is the fact its incouraging people to go out and buy 'throw away ones'. Im not too much of a green freak but this really bugs me! You know how many natural resources are used to make those strollers which are now going to be 'thrown away' for the sake of convienience. Anyone think where these 'throw away' strollers end up?

I am not getting at anyone, but one of the great thing about the rentals was that it was in a sense recycling, and Disney is now denying people these people this oppertunity.

People can make their own choice, but at least try and be as green as we can, cause that stroller may only cost you $20 but it does cost the earth.

*gets down off soap box* ;)

I heard Pete's rant today and usually love them, but the stroller issues just doesn't justify these emotions.

I'm all for families and know that every circumstance is different, but frankly the stroller parking lots outside ride after ride is ridiculous. We took our self-sufficient children (meaning they could walk as we needed too for the trip) and our backpack of supplies and we don't inconvenience anyone on our visit to the magic kingdom. Our memories are vivid. Our kids loved it. And hopefully Disney's new prices will make some of those crazy families dragging crying children, tired children, sunburned children through the parks for their benefit and not their kids to think twice.

Absolutely love the show and love these boards! Great work everyone!

^deleted my response to this...some people aren't worth getting in trouble over.

A double stroller rental went from $18 a day to $31 a day??!?!? :scared1:
$270 to rent a stroller for 10 days?!

Let me preface this by saying that I haven't read all replies.
Wouldn't the price have to be $27 for it to be $270 for 10 days? $31 a day would bring that price $310.

The price for 10 days would be $310 if the guest is paying per day. It would be $270 for ten days if the guest does a "length of stay" rental. The double stroller rents for $31 per day or $27 per day if doing the "length of stay" rental.

people are actually internet arguing.............the way i see it, prices will be what they are, pay it or dont pay it, if people lie to themselves to get a EVC, that is on them............those are not cheap, and they are only hurting themselves if they really dont need it, doesnt hurt me any.......my brother is handicapped, cerebral palsy, he would do anything NOT to need a motorized scooter in disney.........he uses a evc and if someone doesn't want to purposely get out of his way, I say run the jerk over.............he is polite and will move for anyone but seriously, if you deciding wether he needs it or not (he isnt lazy or fat) and you get run over in the mean time, sue him, he is on disablity, he really doesn't have anything.............maybe that person who thinks they can tell if someone is really handicapped or just fat or lazy better think twice or she may be renting a evc because someone ran her over in disney........:rotfl2: people will do what they want for many reasons, dont judge them...........geesh. Its my money, if I want to rent a scooter, I will..............I am a nurse, perhaps that psychic woman can tell me what is wrong with all the misdiagnosed patients and tell me......work would be so much easier:banana:

"excuse me sir, are you crippled for real or are you just fat and lazy?"
"miss, let me see you walk, I think your just lazy and fat but I want to be sure before I move for you?"
:yay:

you should wear a shirt that says, "i move only for the real crippled", "if your fat and lazy I wont move"

I emailed to disney, i dont have children in strollers. But i think this is wrong for all of you who do.

I dont know what good it will do, but good luck!:confused3

Maybe they will see how harsh it is and recover some money another way.

I mean if you realize this is going to effect everyone not just people with kids, i started thinking about the busses and monorails with everyone lugging there strollers on that would be a night mare:scared1: .......I know cuz i have done it before.

TRULY GOOD LUCK WITH ALL THIS!!!
