Becky,'s for you. I hope you and your foot feel better today :wizard: for your grandfather.

Deb- Mr. Potato Head is fabulous!!!

Jennifer- I love the Elvis shot. Hope you got some sleep.'s

Wow! If that's the excitement Robyn's in store for on her visit to Texas, I can't wait to hear her trip report. And to think I was jealous of Theresa's trip. ;)

That itinerary doesn't just scream fun to you? :confused3 :rotfl:

And this is pretty much how it is all over our area. And one of the many reasons I am not teaching in public schools anymore. :sad2:

Most children and their parents don't remember music teachers... :sad1:

However, tonight at rehearsal, the director of the BLS program at UMW came up to me to ask if I had been his music teacher in elementary school. That is second young man this month who remembered me from 30 or more years ago! I have to say, that made my decade! :goodvibes

This really saddened me. :sad1: I can vividly remember my elementary music and band teachers and how their love for music made my schools days much richer. And the one teacher that I remember most from HS is my old band director. He just had a way with all of us that truly left a mark on me and a bunch of my friends, evident by the turn out at his retirement party this summer.'s to you.

We are lucky that Emma's school district has a great music program. She has music 2x week and now she has violin 1x week during regular instruction time. Her school also offers a chorus program as well. And it's been this way since I was in school, my elementary school is in the same county.

Good morning Tammi and Robyn! Good morning DDA! :goodvibes

Elin, I completely agree with Robyn. I remember my elementary and middle school music teachers fondly, and still keep in touch regularly with my high school and college choral directors! They are some of the most important friends that I have in my life! :goodvibes

Leighanna has school today, and is off tomorrow. She has a couple of tests today, hopefully she is prepared for them.

Leighanna is doing really well in school. Except for her behavior. She is such a clown, and she is getting in trouble for it.

Yesterday she had her card turned to yellow, so she had to sit in another classroom during a birthday party.

I am trying to let her know that I don't think that that behavior is acceptable. She told Angie last night that she only does it because Daddy is so funny, and she can't help it!

I guess it is all my fault!:rotfl:

I never learned to play one, don't even know what it is. And as far as I know, no one after me learned to play one either.

I know everyone learns how to play the recorder. I can not recall what grade that starts in.

In third grade they offer Orchestra- Violin, Viola, Cello, Upright Bass
In 4th-6th they also offer band- Flute, Clarinet, Alto Saxophone, Trumpet, Trombone, French Horn, Oboe, Baritone, Tuba, and Snare and Bass Drum In Junior high they offer more instrument choices.

This is during the school day. They pull kids out of regular class for a lesson once a week.

Good thoughts for your aunt and you, stay safe. :wizard:

well they think Ike is going to hit around Port Aransas where my Aunts live. They are also saying we could get wind gusts here anywhere from 50 to 90 MPH

I think that is wonderful! Most adults who do remember their music teachers are women. For two grown men to come to me with stories of what we did decades ago was a delight!

When I ask my students and their parents if they have music in school or who their teacher is, I would guess that fully 10% don't even know they are having music instruction and another 60% cannot begin to tell me the name of their teacher! And these are not just the little ones I teach. I am also talking about middle school students who chose to take band or chorus or orchestra. :confused3

I don't begin to think that this is just about music teachers. I think that our kids see so many adults in their schools these days that there is an overload of faces and job functions.

I never learned to play one, don't even know what it is. And as far as I know, no one after me learned to play one either.

This is what a recorder looks like, Heidi! It is the perfect beginning instrument for a child.

Did you hear the rumor about the box in Virginia? The one where the box is not going anywhere for a few days because the sender can't find time to breath, let alone wrap it and get it to the post office? I think it's supposed to go out this weekend though. :thumbsup2

I hadn't heard that one! Keep me posted!

Holy crap, Deb. That thing is huge! Great, but huge! Yes, the window looks fine. You did an amazing job.

Cool costume, Deb! :thumbsup2

I hope you are all having a good week.

My Grandpa is in the hospital.

I am off to bed, night all.

Good thoughts for your grandpa, Becky! :wizard:

Nick went to bed an hour before his bedtime complaining that he was tired and his ear hurt. I gave him a sudafed and ibuprophen so hopefully he'll wake up all better.

I hope he feels ok this morning! :wizard:

I would love to do that, but apparently, the people who lived here before us were giants!!! The peephole is way over my head. I can't even look out of it if I'm standing on my toes. No windows near the door, either. Bummer, huh?

Actually, that's good. Then the people can't see you! I worked in a house that had HUGE panes of glass on both sides of the front door so people could stand out there and look in! :scared1:

Wow! If that's the excitement Robyn's in store for on her visit to Texas, I can't wait to hear her trip report. And to think I was jealous of Theresa's trip. ;)

Robyn's not staying with ME! I am going to go OUT and meet up with her! :rotfl2:

I remember my 3rd-4th grade music teacher (Dr. Madeline Moore), and I remember my middle school music teachers (Carol Morse and Diane Float). I went to 6 different elementary schools so I am sure there were more, I just can't think of them now. DS was much more of an art guy so I remember his art teachers.
