DDA Chapter 11

:yay: I was able to book the Wanyama Safari for our arrival day so I don't even need to add on a night. There is my Christmas present to Bob taken care of. Let's hope the two of us can stand eating at Jiko twice that week; we are taking the girls there for Christmas Dinner.

:yay: Hooray!!

I have been glued to the tv for the past hour. MSNBC (I think) has been replaying the tape of 9-11. It is heart-wrenching to watch, but I think it needs to be seen to keep those feelings fresh. After time, we all get complacent.

So true! I watched a lot of video last night while working on the blog entry. It definitely is heart-wrenching, but I couldn't agree with you more!

Coming from you, this reassures me. When I first heard about it I was like, recorder?!?! :scared: Why on earth would they teach recorder? It's not even an instrument in today's age!

:rotfl: I guess there are some artists and groups who might disagree with you there. ;) BUT... it is an instrument that your child can succeed with and that is the main reason it is used. It is affordable, fairly easy to maintain, easy to learn and progresses very nicely into other woodwind instruments and note reading!

This is what a recorder looks like, Heidi! It is the perfect beginning instrument for a child.

hey Cassidy's purple color isn't there!!:goodvibes I love the recorder (seriously, I do) as it's a great introduction to instrumental music.

 :cool1: :woohoo: for the safari. :guilty: for no extra day. ;)

:goodvibes well.... I am still looking at adding one more night. Instead of getting into Florida and staying near Daytona Beach we may decide to finish the drive on into WDW and stay there. But even with an AP discount on the AKL CL room we were talking an additional $400 (not including dining) so that made no sense. We won't get there until late that night probably.

So I am now going to take look at a Value or Mod for one night like we are doing this month. If I can do it for a reasonable AP rate then we will probably do that instead of staying elsewhere.

All I remember was a wine pairing ...

I know you did and I finally decided it was the right time to do it! I was looking at adding 1 or 2 nights to our reservation just so we would be able to do the Sunrise Safari and I realized that the cost of that was a lot more than the cost of the two of us doing the Wanyama Safari. So... there you go!

Out of curiosity, are alcoholic beverages included in the meal or do we pay for those separately? If they are included, is it just wine or can Bob also get beer?

Well said. Even though it touched my life on the fringes I tend to forget to remember. And if that can happen here in the DC area where so many of us knew victims or their families, imagine how far away it is to many other Americans.

Leighanna just picked up a recorder at Wally World last week. She loves all instruments. She has already learned to play Mary had a little lamb all by herself!

She wants a guitar and a drum set for Christmas.

I *might* see if Santa can get her a guitar, but the drums, I don't think so!:goodvibes

I've been wanting a drum set FOREVER and the big man in the red suit has never gotten it for me:sad1: . I will probably eventually get the electronic "drums" as I have no space for a full set.

Thanks for opening my eyes to the benefits!

Hmm. I called the Dr's office for DS's refill. I love how DIFFICULT it is to get his med refilled. :headache: It can't be called in, we have to go get a hard copy of the script and physically carry it to the pharmacy, we have to claim the pills within 7 days, blah blah blah. Well, he is completely OUT of his med. I called and left a message for them to call me when it is ready to be picked up so DH can take the paper to Sam's and hopefully have it filled TODAY. The nurse called me back (but I was on the phone with DVC so I missed it). She said another Dr. in the practice is out until Monday. WTH does that have to do with anything? The guy she said is NOT DS's Dr.! So I don't know if she misspoke or if she thinks DS sees the other guy. I tried to call her back but of course I got voice mail. :headache:

I did modify my DVC ressie. I am pretty sure we are NOT going to try to fly in Thursday night so I took that off. I will call Saturday to try to add the last 3 nights that we need. I wanted to make sure we didn't end up borrowing more points from next year than we needed, which is what would have happened if I left that Thursday night on there.

At that time I was the Chairwoman of the school board....and a decision had to be made as to whether we should continue the school day since we are fairly close to the city of Chicago and did not know the magnitude of the situation. The teacher's aids watched the student's while the faculty, principal & school board met to make a decision...and I will never forget being in this room where every single adult was weeping. It was the most emotional moment to this day I have ever felt.

Well said. Even though it touched my life on the fringes I tend to forget to remember. And if that can happen here in the DC area where so many of us knew victims or their families, imagine how far away it is to many other Americans.

As one of those other Americans I think it is easier for us to forget....espescially because most of us don't have the news on that early so we didn't "see" it first hand just in the replaying of the video.

So I caught up:

:cool1: :cool1: on the safari, Elin. What a cool Christmas present:goodvibes

Elin congratulations on the safari :cool1:

Theresa congratulations & good luck with the essay :wizard:

Those of you that have dishwashers, what type/model do you have, does it have all the bells & whistles or just the basics & most important does it clean well? I do not need anything fancy, just one that works well.

Janet we have a maytag quiet series 200....so far the only issue I have had was a broken handle...but it was an easy fix.....I do at least 2 loads a day so it's used quite a bit....I don't think it has a lot of bells & whistles.....

Does anyone want 50 Disney Movie Rewards? First to post that they want them will have the shot at getting them. (I got it in an email with a code...not sure if it's name attached.)

Janet- I am no good to you....my dishwashers (plural...one needs to leave and the other come in) are both older and I have no clue what they are.

In some ways I wish we could go back to just washing by hand.
