Loving your report. Been thinking about Raglan Road, still not sure but it is good to see the entrees to help with the decision. The casual fun atmosphere is what we prefer.

Enjoying your reviews. We're headed for RR in November. Very excited.... Dh really would like the ham...

My husband is going to be thrilled to hear that Kevin's Heavenly Ham is back on the menu at RR!! We are counting down the days.:)

Great RR review:goodvibes Cant wait to see your Yak and Yeti reviews, I'm going to try the CS there in December.

We are going deluxe dining on christmas to avoid the counter service crowds. We are going to a lot of the same places. Looking forward to more!!!
Sorry to hear about your tooth, bummer!

Since Brenda is away I'll fill in for her in regards to the mushroom pics :scared:

This was one of the dishes that JoJo was looking forward to for the last 3 months! She was totally happy with it, but was thrown off by the cabbage that was served with it, because it was not as soft as I usually serve it at home.

The tooth on the first night, man I thought it was going to ruin the whole trip for me, but it only bothered me really bad the first couple nights. I really thought that I was gonna have to have an emergency extraction, then watch the ladies enjoy the deluxe dining for the next few days:eek: Then I learned to eat on one side of my mouth and after the second night desperately and successfully searched for some medication! I would have paid hundreds for medication at that point but was lucky to find some good stuff at the store in the Animal Kingdom Lodge for only $6.00, I wanted to kiss the CM when she lead me to it, I was so relieved!

Yak n' Yeti, Lunch, 09-17-08

Our first visit to Animal Kingdom for this trip. We got on Expedition Everest for the first time ever this morning.. what a great ride!

This is one of the places that we were looking forward to eating, right up there at the top of the list.

Our reservation was for 11:30am. We showed up basically right on time. When we got there it was still pretty slow, and we were greeted with friendly smiles. No sooner than we were checked in a host arrived and took us to our seats, he was very pleasant! We were seated in the upstairs area in a smaller room with a total of 5 tables in it. The decoration of the restaurant was very themed and kept my attention looking around.

As I said we were really looking forward to this meal and I was hoping to have nothing but good things to say about it. Well, that is not entirely the case. While the food was great, which please note that we returned a second time, so it must have been good.... the service on this visit left much to be desired... not the worst but almost the worst of the trip. Please don't let this scare you away, my second review will be much better!! One bad experience with a server is the only case here.

You will notice that we all had something different for our appetizer, but the entree and dessert... we all ordered exactly the same thing!

Our server came and immediately began to have what seemed to be an attitude about us being on the dining plan?? He was just as a matter a fact about everything, no smiles and not really very friendly at all, and explaining to us the dining plan like a robot or a telemarketing recording ... telling us as if we were 5 years old. Then our entrees were brought out to us before we were even half finished with our appetizers. To make matters worse he made two attempts to try and take our food before we were finished with it. Our drinks were also not attended to, and you would think as often as he was bothering us, he could bring some liquid with him?? Well this was not cool in our book, on his third attempt to try and take something away we all ignored him, except for the "look" from me. I will stop ranting now... and to end it just tell you that we remained fairly polite with him the rest of the time, but his gratuity definitely reflected his service!!!

The upstairs setting that we were in was very nice and when I excused myself to the restroom which is located downstairs, I was very glad that we were up there. The downstairs of the restaurant had filled totally up since the time of our arrival and seemed very crowded and much louder than the atmosphere upstairs. I would suggest if you are able to, request an upstairs seat by the window.

We got to meet a very nice couple who were seated at a table next to us and on their honeymoon (also DISer's). This was the first of 2 times we will be seated right next to each other!

Here is a pic of JoJo and I, sitting at our table.

OK OK .... Bring on the Food!!!popcorn:: :3dglasses :surfweb:

Appetizers

ME
Seared Ahi Tuna - Chilled, sesame-encrusted ahi tuna, wasabi aioli, and sweet chili slaw. - $10.99
I was not sure what to expect when I ordered this, but was very pleased with the outcome! The flavor was great and the texture of the seared area in contrast to the raw was very good.

DW
Lettuce Cups- Minced chicken breast, chopped veggies, maple tamarind sauce, and crisp lettuce cups. - $12.99
A very delicious combination of flavors and textures, also a very fun and possible messy dish to consume. The portion size of this appetizer is huge, and could easily make a meal on its own. The meat mix had a wonderful mix of spice to make the flavor on the sweet with a slight spicy side. The lettuce and all the vegies were crisp and fresh!

DD
Pork Pot Stickers - Pan seared or steamed with soy lime dipping sauce. - $7.99
These were good, but in comparison to the other apps, they were nothing to write home about, just your typical dumpling potstickers.

Entrees

We all Ordered

Shaoxing Steak & Shrimp - Skirt steak, tempura-battered shrimp, jasmine rice, stir-fried veggies, and chili plum dipping sauce. - $24.99
There is just not enough that we can say about this dish... the shrimp were very enjoyable and there were enough of them to make you happy and the steak was fairly tender, and bursting with flavor!! We all 3 highly recommend this entree! I'm not sure how this pic looks to you, but let me tell you that that is a pretty big piece of steak hiding behind all that shrimp and rice!

Desserts

We All Ordered

Fried Wontons - Skewers of fresh pineapple and cream cheese wontons with vanilla ice cream and honey vanilla drizzle. - $7.99
Again this was just the perfect dessert for our taste, I want some right now!!! The combination of the pineapple, the cream cheese and the vanilla drizzle served warm, then the cool vanilla ice cream.... Mmmmmmmm!!!!!
One of the best desserts on property in our oppinion!

Beverages
DD Iced Tea
DW Coke.... if you haven't noticed yet, on this trip, this lady is a Cokeaholic!!
ME Iced Tea

Beverage 8.97
Food 130.91
Total 139.88 + tax

Service
Service here was sub-standard from our server. We did pay a bit attention to our surrounding and didn't notice this type of thing happening at the tables near us. You will not notice me mention the gratuity very often because I feel this is a very personal choice and is not really a big part of reviews, but in this case the gratuity was also sub-standard (he still received a tip).

Atmosphere
We enjoyed the atmosphere and the theme in the restaurant, but would never sit in the downstairs area, too crowded down there. There is no real dress code here, it is an almost anything goes type of place since it sits right in the middle of a theme park.

Food
If you like Asian food at all, the food here was wonderful. The portions were absolutely huge, be warned if you try to have a full meal (app, entree, dessert) you may not have any room for you yummy cream cheese wontons and ice cream!! Very well prepared and presented with great flavor. If you don't like Asian food then you might want to carefully consider the choice to eat here. The menu is not real large and everything seemed to be right out Asian or contain Asian spices.

Overall
I would go back... LOL .... we did, for the food! I can still taste the yummy steak!! I do however suggest when you eat here to not place your whole order at one time, unless you are in a hurry. Order your appetizer, then wait till after you receive them to make a decision on your entree, from our experience the entrees come fast!! This will allow you to help control the flow of your meal, and keep it at a relaxed pace if you want!

I'm absolutely loving the reviews so far. My DW and I are going next October and I've already started thinking about the places I want to eat at. I know we're going back to Teppan Edo as we really enjoyed it, but everything else is still up in the air. Although PH and Y&Y seem like places we would both enjoy. I look forward to reading more.

There is definitely more to come!!

Next up:

Jiko

We ate at Y&Y for the first time in June and really enjoyed it! DD had the steak & shrimp, I was only allowed 1 tiny bite of the steak :sad2: she didn't want to share ;) The rest of our meals were also very good :thumbsup2 We sat downstairs and didn't have a problem with noise. It was very busy, walk ups were being turned away. Thankfully our server was much better than yours :goodvibes

Looking forward to your review of Jiko. We're eating there for the first time in December and can't wait!

Your reviews are FABULOUS!! Thanks for such great details and pictures! I'm really looking forward to our upcoming delicacies in WDW. :goodvibes

Yu;mmmm! I can't wait to eat at yak and yeti! Looks great! I'm happy to hear you found the medicine for your tooth early on in the trip!
The picture of you and your daughter is absolutely adorable! Love the pins, I'm a pinaholic!
Looking forward to more.

I loved the wonton desert also. Can't wait for more reviews.
Yummmm... my own picture is driving me nuts right now!

Yes, I suppose you're right, the downstairs wasn't as bad as the noise level some other places. I guess it was just nice to upstairs, it felt like a little escape from the day.

Thank you, I'm glad you are enjoying them! Hope you enjoy your meals as much as we did ours!!

the food looks really really good at yak/yeti!
It was great and given the other options available, we definately be back when visiting Animal Kingdom.

Thank you.. we love pins!! This trip was mainly about 2 things, 1- the food, and 2-the pins. We are addicted to the trading, it completes our trip, the one day that we didn't take our pins it was driving me nuts:rotfl:

Sold!! Keeping my ADR for Y&Y..and I do believe I will be ordering the steak & shrimp ;)
You have so many places on your list that I have been thinking about booking or have already - thank you so much for taking the time to take the pics and write such detailed reveiws. Glad the tooth "incident" didn't ruin your whole dining experience.

Great reviews so far, can't wait for the rest! Love the pics too! It really helps me in deciding on which ADRs to make for our trip.
