In my explorations around this board, I've discovered the DISigners. I'm not usually a "character shirt" kinda mom and really don't dress my kids in that stuff. But I have fallen in love with QUITE a few designs. I was all excited about making matching shirts and my dh said, "Uh, no way. Don't even THINK about making one for me. Just put the kids in them" :sad2:

So, should I make some shirts for me and the kids or just them?

This is the same guy that won't even wear mouse ears at the mouse house. :lmao:

So disappointed...

respect him. Some people are just not disney nuts like us.Dh likes disney well enough, but would stage a massive revolt if I tried to put him in a matching anything.Just make it for you and the kids..respect his wishes don't push.

If you want to wear shirts matching your kids then you just go right ahead. We wore matching shirts and I think that our pics look a little nicer because of it. We did not wear the same designs, just the same color shirts. I have read of people being sorry they didn't all match. If you can, maybe make some matching ones for your husband too. Just in case he changes his mind. We like it. Though Disney is the only place we dress to match. I also find it easier to keep track of everyone in the group if I just have to look for a certain color rather than a face. Because, quite frankly, the back of a head is not very recognizable and I always forget what they are wearing. This way I just have to look at my shirt and find a matching color in the crowd. Works like a charm.

I really can't give any advice as I don't have a husband. Just be glad he is going on vacation with you. My dad wouldn't even go on vacation with us. I agree w/ a PP about making him a shirt and just take it along in case he changes his mind. I hope you all have a great trip!! :goodvibes

I never thought my DH would wear any Disney shirts, but he did. I love the vintage Grumpy, Mickey, Donald ones at disneyshopping.com.

I also got him to wear 2 from the DISigns.

1 was Drinking Around the World at Epcot and the other was a Chicago Bears Mickey head.

Is your DH a sports nut? I bet he would wear a Disney one in his favorite team.

We had a ton of people come up to us asking us where we got our Bears shirts!

What about wearing solid color shirts and jean shorts or khaki's?? My husband and son wore matching shirts/shorts. (Yankees shirt/jeans shorts).... and my girls and I "sort of" did. (for ex: they wore white/green butterfly shirts and I wore a green tank)

Note: You will NEVER catch me in any Yankees apparel...GO RED SOX!!! :cheer2:

We matched most days at Disney, or at least color coordinated. My husband won't do it anywhere else, but he "humors" me at Disney. Even if my husband wouldn't wear matching things, the children and I still would.

Go ahead and make matching t shirts for you and the kids, just buy a plain one for him. That way the colors still match, but he doesn't have to wear the characters if he doesn't want to.

I agree with the poster above me. My DH refuses to match, even though he will often buy us the same color and design t-shirts for our campground cruisers club or for riding the motorcycle. So even if we have the exact same shirts, we always wear one that has a different design, or same design in a different color. I know that is weird. He would draw the line at the same design for Disney, so I would go with a plain shirt in the same color. Now when we go in March, my DMom and I will wear the same shirts occasionally, and what's even better is that often times she and my Ddad will wear matching shirts.

Be grateful that he'll go to Disney at all ... that puts him steps ahead of my DBF :sad2:

DISigns? What and where can i find the info on this?
I got most of my customs off of Ebay (I have some listed in post #7) and most of our matching t-shirts from disneyshopping.com. If you want Ebay i.d.s for Disney custom sellers, just PM me and I'll send them to you.

My DH refuses to go at all! We just go without him or invite my DS to go with us. It is much easier for me than if he went and I had to cater to him.
Dont make him wear the matching shirt!

Personally, I'm not a fan of the color-coded familes either. I can see dressing the kids in matching /coordinating outfits, maybe even Disney ones, but not the whole family. I can also see where it's practical on a school trip. I dunno, maybe that's why I don't like it for whole familes, it says "field trip".

I wouldn't wear the shirt, either.

If you can get your kids to wear them, great. Don't try to force it on your husband.

I thought we looked pretty good.

We had shirts made for 8 of us 6 adults, 2 children (DB and SIL, DM and DF and DP, DS, DD and me) both men refused to where the shirts but what we came to as a compromise was we put them in a backpack and when we wanted to have a "family" picture taken by the Photo people with all of us in the shirts they would throw it on over whatever they had on.

Hope this helps. :)

My husband is the same way. Matching outfits for married people is something he is never ever going to do in his life. Ever. One day we each worn something with Eeyore on it and had a Cast Member comments on it. We hadn't even realized it when we left the room. That was even too much for him.

But there is absolutely nothing wrong with how the OP's husband feels. It's just him. My opinion is the guy should not be pushed into wearing something he doesn't want to wear. Maybe he will change his mind and having a shirt available would be nice. But I'd strongly suggest the shirt be made and packed without one additional word to the husband.

I'd never ask my husband to wear something after he's told me he would absolutely not do it. That's one of the many reasons we're celebrating our 27th anniversary this week. I don't push him, he doesn't push me.

Like Dirty Harry said, "a man's got to know his limitations..." Let him be the odd duck in the group, if he really doesn't want to wear one... or go ahead and order it now, and see if he changes his mind. You never know once you get down there, he might get in the spirit and be willing to bend a bit.
