Mrs. Darling's June 2010 Accidental PTR: Pirates and Harry Potter 6/30 TR Link posted

The Darling Family is Back! :cool1:  :woohoo: :yay: :cheer2:

I forgot all about reading your TR I followed your TR last summer. . . It was the only one I have ever actively followed. I loved it! Maybe because I would love to stay at the BC some day. But mostly because it was a good read (Just like a good book, I was sad when it was over), and you had a table of contents!

I love it when I can just click on a link and go... Some days that is all I have time for.

It's kind of sad that it won't be a full week with your whole cast of characters... but it will be fun I am sure.

Will you be taking another week family vacation? I get so many good ideas, tips, and dining suggestions from your TR's!

Well, this should be fun! :surfweb: I will also look forward to the TR to come.

Oh, and I like your ADR

Oh, I'm definitely joining in on this pre-trippie!

We live in Northern VA and we've done the drive to Disney plenty times, but we normally leave at night so Jake sleeps most of the way. Yall should do great! :thumbsup2

Oh I forgot I wanted to tell you that we really enjoyed Coral Reef. We did lunch though but I am sure that it is all the same. We have boys and they really liked it there. Ask for a seat right next to the aquarium. We did not and I wish I had. Don't get me wrong I don't think you can get a bad seat, just would be nice to be close up for the kids. We all agreed that Coral Reef was our favorite meal during our stay.

So, I say go for it!

Just let me know how it was when you do your TR....

Hello, I just followed you over from my PTR. We are going to be at several parks on the same days.

Fri:DHS
Sat: MK
Mon: Epcot.

Our ADRs are quite different. However, we are eating at O'hanas on Sat. night. This will be our second dinner there. We really liked it the first time. Make sure that your family sits in the front of the grill. I think it is more entertaining for the kids. My DH still talks about the turkey!:lmao:

We have driven twice before from south central PA. I don't mind it much. We always stay in SC or GA. DH and DD14 are making us fly this time. I am not a fan, but gave in.

Can't wait to hear more.popcorn::

So glad to hear you started another trip report. I really enjoyed your June 2009 TR. I subscribed, but I don't think I ever posted because I found it really late into it. I especially enjoyed all of your Star Wars info. We are going this year for SWW for the first time. We usually go in Feb, but with 2 Star Wars obsessed boys (10 & 6) not to mention DH, I knew that SWW was a must do.

Can't wait to hear about Wendy's cruise, and what a great opportunity for you to have some special mother/son time. Looking forward to more.

Hello! We're going to be there at the same time - you're coming in at the second half of our trip. We're there June 13-20. Maybe we'll run across each other!

I think your ADR's look great. We're trying several of the same ones, but on different days. Just for the record, we loved 'Ohana when we went in 2007. We'll be heading back there this time as well. We're also excited about 1900 Park Fare - we have a group of 16 people, and I think that the character interaction will be great.

I skimmed through your 2009 TR for the pictures of Star Wars Weekends. Our first day in the parks in the last day of SWW this year - my DH and two oldest kids are SOOOOO excited! ;)

Looking forward to more!

Wow you are great for my ego;) Thank you so much for the nice words. It is a bit sad that we won't all be at Disney together, but on the other hand my boys are the most easily influenced. So I can do whatever I want and they will follow along. DH and Wendy are a bit more vocal:rolleyes: The whole family will head out west together in July. My parents have a timeshare in Jackson WY and my extended family always go there, so we'll get another vacation in. I'm happy to have you along again.:goodvibes

:welcome: Well you've done the drive plenty, so it can't be too bad right? We're driving during the day though because I'm doing all the driving so it seems much safer.

Oh I forgot I wanted to tell you that we really enjoyed Coral Reef. We did lunch though but I am sure that it is all the same. We have boys and they really liked it there. Thanks for the Coral Reef info. We're going pretty early in the dinner hour so hopefully I can request a seat by the aquarium and not have to wait too long. I'm happy to hear a great report:goodvibes

I'll keep a lookout for you on Friday, Saturday and Monday:goodvibes Are you doing the EMH on Friday morning? I'm excited about Ohana's. I think I'm most looking forward to the Banana Foster Bread Pudding:goodvibes I'm also glad to hear you don't mind the drive too much. I think you'll enjoy the flight though. Two hours on the plane and you are there. Can't beat that!

:welcome: I'm glad to hear you enjoyed last summer's report. That was such a great trip. You will have so much fun at SWW! I'm jealous, but this trip was scheduled around the cruise and there was no way I could "accidently" end up there on SWW:laughing:

Another June tripper:cool1: I'm glad to hear another positive Ohana review! And 16 people:scared1: That will be one crazy, but hopefully fun time. Definitely go to SWW, but if possible make sure to be there at rope drop. It gets crowded quick, but is so worth it!

We were at 1900 Park Fare in December (for dinner) and thought the food was fine. I'm a little surprised that the food gets such bad reviews.
We had an "accidental" lunch at Plaza and had a great experience!

Amanda

I think your ADR's look great!!:thumbsup2 I don't have too much to contribute because they would all be new to us with the exception of Ohana's breakfast which we loved!!:lovestruc We are trying the Tusker House for the first time this trip and I'm glad to hear you really liked it!! But, as far as the juice goes...I think that I read it's the same as at Ohana's so if you had to drop it than at least you could still get your juice.;)

Yayyyyyyyy! The Darling Family is Back!!!!!!!! I loved the pictures :) They were adorable! I love all of your ADR plans, I haven't tried most of those restaraunts! I agree with the safari breakfast, it's good, but the only reason I go there continuously is the characters and the juice! :) I'm also writing a ptr, you should come check it out!! I'm subbing too!

:welcome: I think everyone should try an "accidental" trip sometime! By they way how is the IT band doing?

IT band is still injured. :sad2: I'm not certain that it will ever heal. However, I officially signed up for the 2011 full marathon Friday (and I booked at the BWI ) so I have to get back into running and figure out how I'm going to handle this leg injury. I'm determined to fully run the 26.2 miles this next marathon, like I had trained to do for the 2010, and not wind up walking 1/2 of it injured.

So here are my current ADR's. These have changed tons of times, but I feel good about the current plans so we may just stick with it. We are on the regular dining plan and if we keep all these ADRs we'll have to pay for the last 2 OOP, but I'm OK with that. Most of these places are new to us. I wanted to try new places on this trip. So here they are . . .

Thursday (arrival day): Ohana dinner. This seems to be a place people either love or hate. I'd love to hear anyone's thoughts on it.

I've eaten here twice: Oct 2008 and then this past January, night of the full marathon to celebrate. The main complaint that I see for this restaurant is service but in January I had the best server ever at Ohana. (I think I gave her more than a 20% tip.) Also, I was eating with my mother who has a food allergy and the chef came out to speak with her about her allergy. They specially prepared one of the dishes for my mother so that she could eat it. I've enjoyed Ohana's both visits. I love the bread, pot stickers and the dessert the best.

Friday: 1900 Park Fare Dinner. We had Garden Grill this night for a long time, but we've been there the last 2 trips and I wanted to try something new. Lots of bad food reviews, but everyone loves the step sisters so I figure we'll give it a try. Any opinions?

I ate there in January '09. My aunt, her nanny and I took my (then) 4 yr old cousin Katherine. Katherine spent the entire dinner with her head buried under the table, laying in my aunt's lap, glaring at the characters as they came by. She even scared off Lady Tremaine. Seriously, she did. My little four year old cousin could out glower the wicked step-mother. The only character that Katherine liked was Drizella. Mary, the nanny, had been sitting on the side of the table with me. She'd left to go back up to the buffet when Drizella stopped by. Since that chair was vacant, Drizella bent down to look under the table at Katherine and proceeded to have an entire conversation under the table with her. After Drizella left our table, Katherine finally emerged from her spot, sat up on her knees in her chair, and wide-eyed watched Drizella as she made her way around the restaurant. I think Drizella became Katherine's favorite character that night. The step-mother and sisters were awesome. I loved them. I, personally, didn't care for Cinderella and her Prince ... especially when the Prince stopped back at our table for a second time to flirt with Mary and not me. *ahem*.

The food there was ok and they do serve their strawberry soup for dinner which I love. I prefer the food at 1900 much more than Garden Grill. I ate at GG Christmas Day 2008 and hated the food so much that each time I walked into The Land to go to Soarin' after that meal, I felt sick upon smelling the food from the GG as I passed.

50's Primetime Dinner. This looks like fun. Anyone have thoughts on it?

I've eaten here three times. It's a hit or miss for if you get a good server. The first two times I had servers that had zero desire to get into their role (seriously, why didn't they just apply to work at a normal restaurant then? :confused3) but in December '08 I had a great server. I was there for my birthday and it was my Grandmother, mother and aunt with me.

Our server was 'Cousin Cooper' and he was a blast. That was the funniest night ever. 'Cousin Cooper' also had the the other guests in our seating area sign a birthday card for me and then he presented the card and a cupcake to me. If you have a good server, you get picked on but it is so much fun. If you don't have a good server ... it's just like any normal restaurant. Start off by teasing them and then they'll know that you want the "entertainment" and hopefully you'll get it. My mother decided to have a "sword fight" (with straws) with my aunt which resulted in my mother accidently knocking over her glass of Diet Coke. (*sigh* yes, my mother is worse than a child.) but 'Cousin Cooper' wasn't the only CM having fun with us at our table b/c of things like that. I had the pot roast and it was good but I couldn't eat it all. You will get picked on for not finishing your plate. My grandmother had the fried chicken and thought it was wonderful... and got a clean plate sticker for the disappearance of her chicken.

I'll keep a lookout for you on Friday, Saturday and Monday:goodvibes Are you doing the EMH on Friday morning? I'm excited about Ohana's. I think I'm most looking forward to the Banana Foster Bread Pudding:goodvibes

We'll be there for EMH on Fri. morning, and this will be our first day using our GAD FP. We can't wait to ride the big 3 (TSM, ToT, and RNRC) over and over again.

The Bread Pudding is amazing. My DD ate so much for dinner, they were too full for dessert. They both swear that this year it won't happen again.;)

We loved 50'sPTC. The food is good because it isn't just a burger and fries. We had "Brother Robert" in 07 and then again in 09. My DH tends to play a lot with all of the CM, so we get a lot of attention. :rotfl2: So much fun!!!

I really wish I could talk my family into Universal. They feel like they would be cheating on Disney! I really want to see the Harry Potter Park.

Can't wait for more!popcorn::

Joing in, I had previously joined your marathon TR and loved it. I'm one of those you motivated with your TR to give it a try next year.

Plans look great!!!

50's Prime Time is one of my favorites. As someone previously posted, it can be hit or miss but have had some great memories there, including being fed my carrots I didn't finish and my friend being stood in the corner for having a smart mouth. The whole restaurant was even told to scold her.

Looking forward to reading more.

Thursday (arrival day): Ohana dinner. This seems to be a place people either love or hate. I'd love to hear anyone's thoughts on it.

Excellent choice and esp for a first night dinner. DF mentioned that they recently got a new chef and that it has been getting rave reviews, food is coming out hotter etc. I am sure you will love it :goodvibes

Friday: 1900 Park Fare Dinner. We had Garden Grill this night for a long time, but we've been there the last 2 trips and I wanted to try something new. Lots of bad food reviews, but everyone loves the step sisters so I figure we'll give it a try. Any opinions?

Never tried and have heard bad reviews about the food, but I think the Tremaines more than make up for that. Hope you guys enjoy it.

Saturday: Crystal Palace Lunch. We've been here before, but only for breakfast. So this is kind of like trying something new. Both boys requested it.

Another one I haven't tried, but it gets good reviews.

Sunday: Ohana Breakfast. Really looking forward to this. Love the pre plated thing so I don't have to haul the boys to the buffet. Plus the boys will love the characters (especially Stitch.)
Coral Reef Dinner. Another one that gets mixed reviews. I figure the boys will like the setting. Any opinions on this?

Ohana Breakfast, another great choice :thumbsup2

We enjoyed Coral Reef when we tried it out in 2008 and can't wait to go back again. Only downside to this restaurant is the wait time for your table, but the waiting area is big enough that the kids can just run around a bit and amuse themselves.

Monday: Olivia's Dinner. This is at our resort and many say it is a hidden gem so we shall see.

Never tried, but have heard great things.

Tuesday: Donald's Safari Breakfast. We've done this one before and enjoyed it. I think the characters are so cute in their Safari outfits.:cutie: This is the most likely to get dropped, but I love the juice they serve so we shall see.
50's Primetime Dinner. This looks like fun. Anyone have thoughts on it?

Tusker is supposed to be a good breakfast and the Jungle Juice is awesome!

Wednesday: The Plaza. Wendy and I have been here before and we love it. In fact, this was the place she requested. Simple but tasty food and a great view of the Castle. What more do you need?

So give me all of your thought and opinions. I'd love to hear them!

:flower3:

I'm glad to her a decent report for 1900 Park Fare. We're going for the characters, but obviously it helps if we enjoy the food. I really feel like the Plaza is a hidden gem inside the MK!

I think you're right about the juice so I will get it one way or the other.:thumbsup2

Maybe we'll see you in the chaos that is Toy Story Mania at rope drop:goodvibes We did the GAD too, but I'm using them towards an annual pass. I would love to have those fastpasses though! I'm definitely going to try to save room for dessert at Ohana's after all I've heard about that bread pudding. Hopefully the boys will be stuffed and I won't have to share as much;) I hope we get a fun server at 50's. I think my boys would get a kick out of it especially if the picked on me! Universal is all my DH's idea. He's pretty excited about it and his loyalty to Disney isn't as intense as mine:rolleyes1

Joing in, I had previously joined your marathon TR and loved it. I'm one of those you motivated with your TR to give it a try next year.

:welcome: I remember you from the half marathon TR, but I see you around Carissa's PTR. Awesome that you are going to do the half next year! I tell you won't regret it:goodvibes I'm glad to hear you like Primetime, especially because you are kind of like a local and they always say the locals know the best places to eat:goodvibes

IT band is still injured. :sad2: I'm not certain that it will ever heal. I'm determined to fully run the 26.2 miles this next marathon, like I had trained to do for the 2010, and not wind up walking 1/2 of it injured.

Sorry to her the IT band is still giving you trouble. It does tend to be one those chronic injuries:hug: I haven't officially registered for the full yet, but I'm definitely planning on it. We have reservations at BWV for the week so we will be neighbors:goodvibes When it gets closer maybe we can talk about riding the bus together to the marathon. Definitely won't be running together though! I'm planning on regular walking breaks;) You will leave me in the dust!

I've eaten here twice: Oct 2008 and then this past January, night of the full marathon to celebrate. I'm glad to hear your service was good. I'm planning on this for the 1st night because it sounds like tons of food and I know from dining plan experience that later on in the week I'm not quite as hungry:rolleyes1

I ate there in January '09. My aunt, her nanny and I took my (then) 4 yr old cousin Katherine. Sounds like your cousin is a character herself:goodvibes I'm excited about this though the boys are annoyed we're going to a princess meal. Hopefully the Tremaines win them over and I'm glad to hear the food is better than the Garden Grill. We think the Garden Grill food is ok, but I'd never eat there if there were no characters. So we should do fine at 1900 Park Fare and I'll make sure to try the soup:thumbsup2

Thanks for the opinions! It's good to have reassurance on my choices. We have an early Coral Reef dinner (I think around 4:00) so hopefully they won't be too backed up yet. Of course I suppose they could still be backed up from lunch:confused3

Jumping on board! I loved reading your 1/2 Marathon TR. Your family is just too stinking cute! I love all the DL pics and of course the Jack Sparrow one. I will be anxious to read all about WWOHP when you get back!!! :goodvibes

4pm shouldn't be too bad and the lunchtime rush should have subsided by then :)

Hello! I found your TR through my SIL FairyGodMotherJen. I see that we have a lot in common with our trips. You have a lovely family. We are getting excited already about our trip. It will be here before we know it!:goodvibes
