I just checked in to the Disney Magic online - I guess thats official then. Does anyone know if we still need to fill all the documents in the book if we have done it online. Thanks.

Off to do laundry so I can finish packing. We need to charge the Ipods today. So many details to remember!! :headache:

So funny, I love those trashy mags with a cup of tea and some biccies!!! :goodvibes

Even though I fly a lot, I'm a nervous flyer and for some reason reading trashy magazines on the plane calms me down better than reading a book on which I really have to concentrate. Prefer trash mags to Xanex--the only side effect is embarrassment at being seen reading them!

Me too, Sue and I were just saying the same thing, I was saying that I have a picyure in my head of how some people look and then I finally see their photo and it is completely different :confused3

Hope you're not too disappointed when you realize I don't look like Angelina Jolie!

I asked the front desk to check next week's weather and there is a chance of rain most days, but then it was predicted to rain Friday and it only rained in the early am when we were asleep. The days have been warm and sunny with a few fluffy white clouds, some breezes. Many people are in shorts and sundresses. I think the weather is just like LA. It rarely rains when predicted.

We took the 24 bus from Placa Catalunya to Parc Guell today. This was suggested in tripadvisor. Glad that we did it this way. The bus let us off right in front of the park entrance. The HOHO drops people off at the bottom of the hill and it is a long, steep walk up. The park is beautiful and a "must see" if you have the time. We spent 3 pleasant hours walking around.

There are several good tapas places near the Pratik. Our favorite is Cuidad Condal, right across the street. Breakfast for 2 is under 10 euros. We've had lunch and dinner there too. The menu is in English and the staff super helpful. I recommend it highly. Taller de Tapas is also nearby, about 1 block away. Also very good.

The Pratik has a lovely terrace off the first floor where wifi connection is strong. It may be a very good place to meet for the fountains. The lobby is very small and the staff would probably not be too happy with a crowd of noisy disers packing the lobby.:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Barcelona is great. Walking the streets feel safe. Don't stress about blending in. Every kind of dress is seen. If you are carrying a camera or checking out a map - you are a tourist no matter what you are wearing. That's OK. They like tourist.

Thanks for the update. Let's hope for sunny with a breeze. We really love Barcelona and Park Guell is definitely worth a few hours.

Talk like a pirate day pirate: is perfect for my husband, Greg. You never know what "voice" he'll be using next--John Wayne, George W. Bush, Sean Connery...Can be a bit annoying if he does it too much, but I must admit I like "sweet nothings" from James Bond!

We leave Wednesday, so today's the day to finally begin the clothes packing. I have a pretty good idea of what we're taking, just need to get it all out. I'm resigned to doing some laundry half way through to keep the weight down.

I have so much to do, I must schedule some time today to be EXCITED!!! = me at 6:00 pm.

Andrea

I wish it were tee shirts for me. It is all the FE gifts, my shoes, toiletries and electronic gadgets that are making up our weight!!

We will have lots of wires and chargers, mustn't forget those. John will have his Mac and I will have my iPad. We must remember to charge everything on Monday among a thousand other things to do!!

In addition to the charger and the power strip, we have the converter plugs as well to bring!!

I am sitting here reading the board and then my heart starts to pound. I got so much to do and time is moving up fast.:confused:

After doing a weekly countdown for what seems like forever, it gives me great pleasure ( tinged with a teeny bit of sadness for some reason ) to present to my wonderful DIS friends ..... our last ever weekly countdown ...

WE HAVE ONLY 1 WEEK TO GO UNTIL WE BOARD THE DISNEY MAGIC !!!!!!

I am on my way out the door to get Hurricane supplies for the kids...just incase they need them while I am gone....and needed to come on here to post something for Laura (eeyorelvr10)

She sent me a text to let dolphingirl47 know that she has your dresses. I guess you will know what that means.

Laura says they are in Tunisia and it sucks! Said she does not recommend it. I will try to find out more on the reason why later.

See everyone in 1 week!!!! :woohoo: :woohoo:

That's great, I know Corinna really loved those dresses!:cool1:

Funny, my dgd is just back and said it was good in the resort but out of the resorts the feamles got pawed at all the time, to the extent they just never left the hotels resort, will be interesting to see what they made of it.

That's what I heard about Tunis too, not good

But the T shirts!!!!:rotfl2: Oh, and my bags of toiletries have to go on top yet too.:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: My back aches now. So having a cuppa and a break.

My sister just popped in and took one look at all the things strewn across Becky's room (our current packing room) and laughed hysterically! Do you think we may be going ott?:rolleyes1:lmao:

I second your sentiments. That is precisely why we did not notify my sister many years ago when my spouse died. Why would I want their honeymoon to be forever associated with the death of my spouse?

I agree that there really is nothing they could do. It's not on the same level as your event, but we were on our last full day of a week long vacation at WDW when I was woken up to a phone call. It was my sister calling me to tell me that my brother-in-laws auto repair business was on fire. I understand why they contacted us but in the end we spent a lot of time in the morning on the phone and the last day was a downer (even more so than the usual last day doldrums). Even though we had 7 great days before that, it put a damper on the vacation. I even had a hard time scrapbooking that vacation as it always reminds me of that event.

My grandma died while we were at WDW. My mom called us on our cell phone. Although it was expected, my sons (3 and 5) were wondering why I was crying in the middle of the Magic Kingdom. They needed to get in touch with us though because they wanted to plan the funeral for once we got home and wanted to make sure we could make it to the funeral since it would be 3 hours away. Also, they made sure the funeral was not held on our wedding anniversary. I'm thinking, maybe if someone dies when we are on the cruise, that I don't want them to tell me. It won't change the fact and it would only serve to spoil the remainder of the cruise. Is there a tactful way to let the parental units know this? I think you did the right thing, Noel.

I remember our first cruise, you couldn't get much on TV. There was Hurricane Wilma destroying Mexico and the Western Carribean. We were on the Eastern itinerary. We heard about Wilma 2 days after it became news. It was very nice being very disconnected. Now, you can get CNN in your stateroom. Just makes it harder to really disconnect and relax.

I do a lot of the packing but DH helps. DH does 99% of the unpacking, though!!

When my father passed away, my sister Cheryl and her family had planned a vacation to Costa Rica. Being super frugal, she had absolutely no trip insurance on the trip. We knew that my father who was just as frugal would have wanted them to go not only for the lost money but would not have wanted the kids to associate Costa Rica with the death of my father. They didn't even tell the kids until after the trip was over. Our plan was to delay the funeral until they came home a week later which worked well for everyone.

My suggestion is to talk openly and frankly to your parents about how you feel unless you think they would not be receptive. I would explain that there would be no way you could fly home from the ship if there were a death in the family and that you would not want to associate the children's memory of a wonderful cruise with such sadness. As a grandparent, if my kids pull the grandkids card, it usually works.

Just my thoughts....

Thank you for that Paula. You are the first one I have ever seen voice my sentiments exactly. I'm not coming home, no matter what. That is why I went to visit my 94 year old Dad last weekend. I have explained to all my friends and family, do not tell me any bad news while I'm away. The only thing I can do is cry my eyes out. I can do that when I get back; don't need a head start...:goodvibes:goodvibes

Similar sentiments here, I`m feeling very guilty that I`m leaving very frail dad 85 for 3+ weeks. However I`ve just taken him to visit relatives for 5 days so really those guilt feelings are probably not justified. I`ve asked DD to phone the ship should the worst happen, but we can`t come home, thats for certain.

I'm presuming you want the real thing and not a Hong Kong Special. Most staff in the high end stores should be able to speak enough English to help you. Are you going through Singapore on your way (even for an hour so so at Changi airport) might be worth checking out the price and availability of what you want there. you should be able to do that online

Yes, the real thing! I was hoping there would be at least one english speaking staff member at a store like LV. We are travelling through Singapore and London, but to my knowledge there is no LV store at either airport? I don't remember seeing one at either last year, If anyone knows different please let me know, I have googled....:confused3
Any which way, I'm gonna get my hands on one this trip!!! :cool1:

There are no LV stores in Changi or Heathrow airports, I'm afraid.

I think a few others have replied about the VAT refund in Spain, which sounds a bit more troublesome if leaving on a cruise ship rather than an aeroplane. Would hope you will eventually get the refund though!

I rather think so, though we do have going on 3 weeks after the cruise where I won't be wearing dressy things, so need enough ordinary clothes. I look at the piles and think I will take something out, and so far it has been 1 T shirt!!!:rotfl2::rotfl2:
