Sara & Ryan's Wishes PJ & TR ~ 8/17/10 WP/GF/Marina ~ 1/22 Thank you!

more being behind....stupid school

We move in January not sure of the date yet.

I love your photos on the beach! They are my fave. Your reception decor is so amazing. I can't believe how perfect everything came out! Everything is so elegant. Your cake is so so beautiful! I absolutely love it!! What were your flavors? I forgot if you told us.

Can't wait to see more!!

Oh I see your watch box on your sweetheart table!! Does your DH like it? I found them somehow online....and I make mine where it anytime we go somewhere fancy. I love mine.

I haven't been on here in forever Sara, but I had to take some time to tell you how stunning you were and how gorgeous your day was!!! I hope you had the time of your life and have gotten settled into being a newlywed! I think all your hard work paid off...too many years of love, health, and happiness to you and Ryan! :goodvibes

OK So, I guess I joined along when you first started and must have forgotten to subscribe...whoops! No worries! I'm all caught up! So glad you used white hall...gives me the opportunity to see it before we are there next month!!! Everything was beautiful! Can't wait for more on the reception!

I'm loving the update and all the photos!! And your cake is so pretty!

Thanks so much! I really loved the cake and my cake topper. :)

Wow! Everything is so unbelievably elegant. I absolutely love your cake!

It is so hard to see everyone else's TR's now...it makes me want to have another wedding so I can use all these ideas!!

Thanks Karen! I was glad we did the 2-tier, they wanted so much extra for that tiny 3rd tier, but I think it was just the right size.

I know! But there's always a VR! ;)

The room looked beautiful Sara. I loved how the centerpieces turned out. Your pictures came out great and I loved all the purples you used. You are right about your dress and the bridesmaids dresses, they really complimented each other well. Can't wait to hear about the reception!

Thanks Stephie! I was so worried about the wallpaper and the colors but when we were in there it was really nice. Thanks! It actually wasn't really even intentional, I realized that after the girls said that was their favorite and since the bridal shop sold the sample they had never seen my dress in person.

Sara, just beautiful:) I love the words in your ceremony..they are just perfect. I am the wedding custodian at our church and for the weddings I have been a part of, your service is so special and touching...May God bless you and your husband.

Thank you so much. That is so sweet of you to say. :goodvibes I just picked my favorite parts from all the ceremonies I read and it really was perfect for us.

Right i'm all caught up!

Everything looks wonderful, you were a very beautiful bride.

Thanks Claire! I'm so jealous of your recent trip to Disney!

That's awesome! Lol, just in time for the cold, but I guess where you live now is probably even worse.

Thanks so much, we were so happy with everything. It was amazing to finally see it all together and have it be just how I had hoped.

The cake was not only beautiful but it was sooo tasty. That is my biggest regret, not eating more cake . We had three flavors - red velvet with buttercream - this was the bottom layer since DH liked it too. We had almond with amaretto mousse, which was my favorite, we had a sheet cake in the back with this. And the top layer was marble with bavarian creme and fresh strawberries, which they were supposed to cut but didn't and gave to us but by the time I tried it, I don't think it was really good anymore, so I only had a bite.

We really liked the watches, I thought they were really nice and not so in your face Disney, although we haven't actually worn them yet. We don't normally wear watches so we forgot all about them, but good idea to wear them on fancy occasions.

your pictures are so pretty! You look gorgeous! Congrats!

Thank you and thanks for reading. :)

Thanks Kelly! We really had the best time :goodvibes. Life as a newlywed is good but busy! I thought I'd be bored after the wedding but it seems like there is always something I have to do.

Lol, that's okay, I can never figure out how to subscribe, I thought I have too, but then never get updates, so I must be doing something wrong . I had really wanted to have the reception in Whitehall but we ended up with too many people. I think it is such a pretty room and I wish I had gotten to be in there for more than 5 minutes, but the set up was really nice and I love how bright and airy it is. Thanks! We were so happy with how it all turned out. :goodvibes

After all the guests had taken their seats they began to line up the BP in the hallway. Some of the BP was determined to do something funny and some of them didn't really do anything, so it will definitely be interesting to see the video.

Here's a shot of one of the funnier entrances, I'm really looking forward to seeing this in action. You can also see the new wallpaper in this shot, and I like it a lot better than what they used to have.

We wanted more of a party atmosphere with plenty of dancing, so DJ Miles said as soon as we came in they would play a dance song or two to get everyone moving before doing our first dance and I was happy with how that worked out.

Then it was time for our first dance which was "The Luckiest". This is another area that I wish we had put a little more thought into . DH's sister and DBIL had done a choreographed first dance and it was really cool. I didn't really want to worry about having to remember steps and wanted something more natural and us. So we didn't practice at all... and our first dance song was really long... but at least we got some nice pictures of it .

"Who knew this song was so long?"

SR_0879.jpg

This was when we randomly threw a turn in there to jazz it up a little. :rotfl2:

SR_0871.jpg

After that it was time for the toasts. We had decided to save money and not have a champagne toast and figured everyone could toast with the drink of their choice. So as we head to our sweetheart table, the DJ announces that it was time for the toasts with "existing beverage" :headache:, it just made it really awkward and I think people would have figured it out on their own. The other problem was that the bar wasn't set up in the reception room yet, so most people ended up just toasting with water, which was not our intention. So I wish I had known that beforehand.

We were only having the BM and my Dad giving speeches. I figured it would be easier that way since I had two MOH's and neither of them really wanted to give a speech.

Both of the speeches were really great and I'm looking forward to watching them on the video. I know I keep saying that about things, but I'm really so glad we got a video after all since we were on the fence about it.

Time to eat :woohoo:. We started with Caesar salad plated table side.

SR_0921.jpg

The salad was really good and then they brought out the entrees. We didn't get any professional pics of those, but luckily the taking pictures of food seems to run in my family, so we have a picture of the steak.

Jiko Filet Mignon with red wine sauce and four cheese mac-n-cheese. It was sooo good, even better than at the tasting. I only had a little since I was saving room for cake and the dessert party but I really wish we could have had some boxed up for later!

Up next: cake cutting, parent dances, and special guests...

Having the same salad plated table side...thanks for posting this! Did they plate it actually at the table or where they bring in the plates and such?

Ohhhh, I can't believe you had the Jiko filet at your reception! I see how to "toast with existing beverage" would annoy you. Besides my own, I have never been to a wedding that gave out champagne for the toast, we have always just used what was in front of us. I think people would have figured it out on their own :lmao:

Yay more pics!
You two look so cute dancing!

Hehehe, DH and I picked "So Close" since it was easy to choreograph and also it is rather short. I am so glad we went with a dance instructor for this, I'd have been so nervous otherwise! Can't wait to show everybody what we have been working on!

Your food sounds so good! But I am partial since we are having a Jiko salad, that same filet and the vegetarian noodle bowl from Brown and Derby on our menu for the vegetarians (we have a lot of vegetarians, so I picked my favorite vegetarian dish in WDW for them, so yummy!) can't wait to have them all again, they were oh, so very very good during tasting!

DH and I also did away with our champagne toast, so I appreciate the note about the whole "With existing beverage" thing.

the first dance pictures came out great! We didn't actually prepare for the first dance either! But you guys look like you did great. Sorry about the toasting mix up....thats very annoying. That salad looks so gooooood!! haha

It was really yummy! I know they had a few different trays, probably one between every two tables, so it was pretty close to a table. Here's a better picture. They plated on the tray but then brought it over to the table.

It was so delicious! It may have even been better than when I've had it at Jiko. My MOH is going to Disney in Feb and she has already made ADR's for Jiko just so she can have that steak again. :) I just cringed when he said that, it was soo awkward and some people laughed a little because it was just weird the way he said it. That was the "worst thing" that happened, so we were definitely very lucky and I was only annoyed for a second. ;) I've been to wedding where they do both and usually you would just pick up your glass if they don't hand anything out.

Yay more pics!

Thanks! I think our guests did get tired of it pretty quick . It would have been nice to do some dance lessons, I really wish we had. I'm sure you're first dance will be great and your guests will be really surprised! I love that song too, btw. ;)

Oooh your menus sounds so yummy! Our tasting food was great too, but it was even better at the wedding. :)

You're welcome! I definitely wish someone had told me, I would have specifically told him to just say it was time for the toasts, or "raise your glass" or something like that.

They are great dancing photos!

Thanks Claire! :goodvibes

Thanks Jen! Lol, it photographed way better than it really was . I thought about having guests join us halfway through, but then if they had we wouldn't have gotten a lot of my favorite pics of it, so it worked out. It was just a strange thing to say, why would you say "existing beverage"? How about just "raise your glass"? But in the end it wasn't that big a deal and I doubt anyone else really even remembers. It was so good! :goodvibes

Eveyrthing looks gorgeous!! Cant wait to read more!!! Now Im thinking about those candelabras again...

Thanks so much! Lol, well I don't mean to be an enabler, but I thought they were totally worth it. ;)

After we ate, DH and I began to make our way around to each table to say hello. I really don't know how people manage this at larger weddings because I feel like it took so much time. But then we really tried to talk to everyone and more than just "great to see you, thanks for coming", since they had all travelled so far to be there. It was definitely nice to be able to talk to each guest and I think they all appreciated it. So we hit up a few tables and then did some dancing and it was time for cake.

the cake ready for it's close up
SR_0935.jpg

cutting the cake, it's surprisingly complicated! Luckily our catering manager was by our side directing us the whole way.
SR_0941.jpg

the groom feeds the bride, DH seems to be having a little too much fun with this, and the piece of cake he gave me was really big.
SR_0946.jpg

The bride feeds the groom, you can see I'm still eating my cake :rotfl:
SR_0948.jpg

Awww
SR_0949.jpg

There was some regular dancing and then it was time for the parent dances.

My Dad and I danced to "Father and Daughter" by Paul Simon. If you've ever seen the Wild Thornberry's movie it was on the soundtrack. I had a tough time picking a song since most seem to be designed to make a grown man cry :lmao: and some others are just plain weird. So this one fit the sweet but not too sappy.

It was perfect and we had a really nice time dancing and talking.

SR_0962.jpg

SR_0966.jpg

DH and his mom danced to "Lullabye (Goodnight My Angel)" by Billy Joel.

SR_0974.jpg

SR_0977.jpg

After that the DJ wanted to get everyone on the dance floor and did this "circle of love" thing and everyone had to join hands and dance around the table, then each circle was supposed to go on the dance floor. It felt a little silly at the time, but it really did get everyone on the dance floor and we got some great pictures from it.

SR_1015.jpg

they served the cake, I wanted people to be able to pick which flavor they wanted.
SR_1019.jpg

We played a few slow songs
SR_1032.jpg

Our RB was quite the dancer.
SR_1038.jpg

Then the DJ played "California Girls" by Katy Perry, which is a song that would definitely have gone on my Do Not Play list but I forgot, so I just went to say hello to more guests and missed all of what happened next. This shows that sometimes even songs you don't really like can lead to great memories! Apparently DJ Miles let my cousin be a guest DJ for that song, so once again, I can't wait for the video so that I can actually see that!

SR_1078.jpg

SR_1080.jpg

After that song they called me back to the dance floor because it was time for our special guests to arrive! ::MickeyMo::MinnieMo

We had decided to have Mickey and Minnie come for just some dancing instead of the cake cutting too, and this worked out great! Since we didn't know a lot of which elements we were going to keep we didn't tell our guests about Mickey and Minnie or about the Dessert Party.

I can't remember what was actually played, it may have been the Mickey Mouse Club song but DJ Miles announced that we had special guests arriving and here they are!
SR_1089.jpg

I was happy to see them in the purple formal outfits, since they don't guarantee the color outfits. We had so many comments by people at the wedding and looking at pictures of how they matched our colors perfectly.

As I've said before, we were on the fence about having them. With DH leaning towards no. Could a bunch of jaded NY'ers really enjoy this or would they think it was cheesey? Well the answer is yes, they loved it! Even the people that were skeptical about a Disney wedding in general had to admit it was pretty freakin' cool. :rotfl: So if you want to have them, definitely get them. We had mostly adults and they went crazy! You would have thought Johnny Depp walked in the room or something.

look at the girl in the left corner of the picture, she was so excited!
SR_1093.jpg

SR_1096.jpg

We danced to "family friendly" music, like "We are Family" and stuff like that. I don't really remember what was played, but I think "Down" was played too, so there was so current music in there too.

What I like to call the Mikey / Mickey dance-off. It was soo funny. In the end Mickey bowed to our RB like this :worship:, so funny!
SR_1099.jpg

SR_1100.jpg

we had so much fun!
SR_1120.jpg

Then we did a slow dance.
SR_1121.jpg

SR_1126.jpg

SR_1130.jpg

I think this one is so sweet, once you get over the fact that it kind of looks like Minnie is going to eat our FG.
SR_1138.jpg

SR_1145.jpg

Minnie did NOT like his saucy dance moves
SR_1155.jpg

but she recovered.
SR_1165.jpg

DH is saying I have to get ready to go out now, so this will have to be split in two installments, more to come!

Everything was just so beautiful! The centerpieces are so gorgeous, and, I know I already said this before, but I just love the cake! Everything just looks so elegant!

I'm excited to see the pics of the special guests!!

Oh, I must have posted just after you added the last pics! I love your character pics :goodvibes It looks like you had so much fun with them!

OMG Mickey and Minnie! Yay!
It looks like everybody is sooo stoked to see them!
I love the expression of your guest, she is all: "ZOMG it's Mickey!!!":rotfl2:

Too cute! Your cake cutting pics are precious! I loved your cake BTW, very very nice!:thumbsup2
