Boozin’ It Up 12/5-12/7 coming ASAP

Oh wow...that's right. I never thought of the post counts dropping when threads are deleted! I've never looked at my post count after such an event has happened, but I would bet that mine has dropped a bit today too.

I meant to tell you that my friend, her son and her mom stayed at the Del Sol in 2008. They were initially going to stay at Quality Inn but the reviews were pretty bad (if you consider insects a bad thing at hotels!:rotfl2:) so they switched to Del Sol. They said it was very basic, nothing snazzy, but it was clean enough and it was fine if you don't care about having a 'great' place to stay. They said they had stayed in some dumps in the past and Del Sol was miles above the dumps, but just not a 4-star establishment. No bugs tromping across them in the middle of the night, at least. I think they would have no problem staying there again if need be.

Thanks Sherry! We always stick with no-fuss places. We truly are in the room just to shower and sleep, so we don't need to be wowed by our surroundings. I've heard that Del Sol and Desert Inn are owned by the same people, but I don't know how true that is. Regardless, I'll be glad to post a more in-depth review to the DIS.

I always wondered about that with the post counts. Kind of sad to be back under 5,000. I was beyond proud of that one when it happened.

I have yet to stay at a place on that half of the cross walk to DLR. But I've pretty much been on to stick to what I know, and what I know is the HoJo, lol.

And I think that behind there is a Disneyland parking lot so that if they are using it you could probably walk there and take the tram. Although I doubt it is that much less of a walk.

I think I'm spoiled by location now. I'm sure HoJo is great like everyone says, but I'm not sure if I could be that on top of entertainment/AP rates in order for it to be worth it for me. I've always had $59/night or less at closer places.

It might actually be more of walk, because I don't think hotels have any entrance to that in the back of them. It's soo quick to just cross the crosswalk and go through security. 5 minutes maybe.

Some day I would very much prefer to be spoiled by location. But the problem is, in order for me to be able to get them at a rate I can afford I have to pre-pay (unless I'm being an idiot) which doesn't work for me in the planning department. Someday.

Neither Desert Inn or Anaheim Plaza has made me pay before. I don't know about Del Sol since we did it through GAT. These places are not of the same quality as HoJo though.

Maybe next time I'll look into them. Like you said, I'm not always so concerned with quality although I absolutely love the HoJo and their staff. I'm so rarely in the hotel except to sleep and download photos anyway.

That's what I was thinking. But it was a thought that crossed my mind when I saw that parking lot. Call me crazy my mind does that.

I WAS wondering what that parking lot was for, so you helped me there! :goodvibes

I love that parking lot. When it is open it is one of the better parking lots and beats the heck out of the garage.

Well if they did have a way of getting straight to Harbor without going around to Disney Way, then it would be very convenient for people who are driving in. No dealing with the tram and then walking through Downtown Disney.

We did that last trip, because we were staying on Katella and I love going in that way.

Downtown Disney seems soooo long sometimes. I can't imagine how tiring that would be to walk from DLH to the entrance.

It could be brutal. When I stayed there I preferred to just walk to the monorail station. Although sometimes it was just fun to walk through DTD. But not frequently.

You know when we were there in June we would stay until around 4 and go back after dinner. One time we parked in the parking lot for DTD and walked through into the park. It wasn't any worse than it was to park in the parking garage sometimes. But, leaving that parking lot was horrible, you can see part of WoC from the parking lot and oy what a freaking mess that was.

We've stayed at the HoJo, Ramada Maingate (although it was called something else then) and once at the DLH. That walk from the DLH was long. We were in a standard room, and to be honest the room wasn't that much nicer than the HoJo rooms. The Disney theming was nice, and I would love to stay there again, but it's not normally in the budget.

The Ramada is a great location, the rooms are a decent size (we had 4 adults with all our bags and it was fine). Like you, we are really only in the room to sleep and upload photos. It was fine for that. They had a free continental breakfast and it was pathetic. They had those tiny little muffins, Hubby took two (he could seriously have eaten the whole muffin in one bite, they were tiny), and the staff made him put one back. Each guest was only allowed one muffin. Not to mention he had already handled it, before they made him take it off his plate and put it back in the basket. My mother in law, went into the breakfast room to get coffee, then went out by the pool to grab a table, when she tried to go back in to get food they wouldn't let her because she's already been through once.

It was probably a one off or a staff member having a bad day, but we've never been back based on that experience.

Now we go back to HoJo. One day we'll try something else, but for our December trip we got a rate of $45 a night for one of the nights and that's hard to beat, so we're staying put.

Wow! What stingy muffin Grinches they were! How silly. We usually just bring whatever we will want for Breakfast ourselves(though it's much easier for us to do that since we drive). Then we only have to worry about lunch and dinner in the parks. $45 is a great price!

I hope to stay at one of the resort hotels at least once in my life, but that probably won't happen soon.

TRIP STUFF

So my ma and I went to our Disney Store today to find some new t-shirts for our trip. Not as great of a selection as I would have hoped for, but we still came away with some stuff.

The bag! 'Cause it's cute.

T-shirts were regularly $16.50 each or 2 for $24. Black is mine, and red is my mom's.

Then we spotted these cute glasses that we decided were necessary. So we got 2.

They have snowflakes and glitter that float around the inside edge.

Since dishes were $5.50 each or 3 for $12, we got this bowl too.

Success!

Nice haul ;) I think I have the first shirt that you photographed with Mickey Mouse. Now I want the one with Minnie though. And those cups are too adorable.
