The MURPHYS are LIVE from the BEACH CLUB (3/26/11-4/1/11)!!!!!

Love reading your live trip report!!! We live close to each other, I'm in Logansport just about 45 mins from you. I'm wishing i was in Disney with you. It is only in the 40 here today. Can't wait to hear more!!!

Erika, I see all the times you have stayed at WDW, everything from value to deluxe! We have toyed with the idea of staying at Pop Century in the future, but wanted some insight on how it is after staying deluxe?

Fights broke out! LOL I knew it. :lmao:

We are finally at the studios!! In line for TSM.

I love POP. You might need to get two rooms though because the beds are small. Unless you have small kids. But the resort is really neat. And when the ap rates are $59 or $79 its hard to pass up. Especially when we travel with a grandparent and need three rooms. Most of the times we stayed there it was a split stay with a DVC resort when we used points for a Sunday thru Friday in a two bedroom villa then stayed at POP.

Honestly I'm really not impressed with much of it. The lounge is very small, most people down there are in wet bathing suits and barefeet, piling plates with all the hot appetizers they can carry before anyone can even get a chance to get near them. Way too many little kids grabbing food with their hands, no parental supervision, etc. Dirty coffee stirrers, empty sugar packets, missing tongs, its more like the Golden Corral than a concierge lounge. There seems to be way too many people staying on this floor compared to the offerings they're providing. They bring a pan of something out (example: 20 mini egg rolls) and they are gone in less than one minute. People are standing around waiting for food. I actually feel sorry for the lounge castmembers because they seem nice and friendly but they are trying to control a zoo of chaos. I saw a CM tell a lady she needed to wear shoes and she ignored her and continued on. I saw a boy about 12 years old take off his wet sneakers, peel off his wet socks, leave them in the middle of the lounge floor and then procede to take apple slices with his bare hands. There are many small children unattended, so I'm guessing parents like to treat the lounge as free babysitting. I have been staying out of there because it really makes me angry. I swear I came so close this morning to unleashing a tirade on a boy who was about 10 years old playing in the sugar cube bowl while his mother stood right there next to him. I may sound like a snob but this is completely unacceptable to me. We've stayed on the CL at the GF, YC, WL, AKL, BWI, and Poly... this one is the bottom of the list for sure. I don't think its the CMs fault, I'm sure they don't want to play sheriff all day to a bunch of kids who really ought to know better. Or if they don't know better then their parents should know better.

I will definitely stay at the BC again, its a great location, we love being close to Epcot, we love SAB, our room has been cleaned every day by the time we return from the parks (which is HUGE in my book), but I wouldn't waste money on the CL here again. I made all my own ADRs online anyway so really we just like the use of the lounge as an added bonus. I don't want the stress of having to deal with a huge crowd every time I want a glass of water or a cup of coffee. I want a lounge that is relaxing and enjoyable for down time and I want an occasional snack that hasn't been touched by 50 kids.

Rant over  Sorry about that!

That is such a shame! We unfortunately felt the same way about the BC CL. We lucked into an upgrade to the Concierge Floor last year because of overbooking, and we kept saying all week that if we had to pay for it, we would have had to complain. It is really too bad! Your family looks so happy, thanks for posting the live report!:)

OMG! Seriously? I'm starting to wonder if you are at Disney World or on a secret reality show that you don't know about yet! :lmao:

I'm glad you all have made the most of what sounds like a horrible weather week. My cousin lives in Orlando and she sent me a txt this morning saying there was a ton of damage from the storms. And it's not even Summer yet!!!

Thanks for the review and the pics of the menu.:woohoo:

TigrLvsPooh,
Despite the issues you had with those rude guests when you were in the lounge, can you say how it took the Cast Members to refill their various food items during breakfast and the hot food offerings from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM?

I was also wondering during breakfast did the lounge still have Oatmeal every morning?

Still raining. A total wash out. :(
We did TSM, sounds dangerous, American idol, lunch at 50's PT, and that's all folks. Leaving for the hotel. My feet are like prunes. We are supposed to fo to MK tonight and have dinner with pooh. We will see what happens......

I am so bummed for you about the weather!! I know you are making the best of it and I'm sure having a blast!

Thanks for the info. We always get 2 rooms, and when we cruise we get 2 cabins. When I booked our upcoming summer BC trip the cm on the phone said "I will put in for connecting rooms", to which I said "please don't". She laughed. My kids are 17 & 18.

The CMs are constantly refilling everything the best they can. The amount of people and how quickly the food goes really keeps them moving continuously. Yes I have seen oatmeal with all the toppings every morning. Also hard boiled eggs, assorted pastries, bagels, fresh fruit.......its all exactly the same except the danish flavor rotates between Apple, coconut, cinnamon, and raspberry and the muffin rotates between blueberry, banana nut, and a breakfast bread rotates in as well. Plenty of breakfast options every day.

At night they have two hot items ..... so far we've had mini egg rolls, wontons, chicken skewers, these little brie things, a couple of different puff pastries, one had peas inside it, basically just your standard mass produced banquet type appetizers. They typically bring about 20-30 out each time so they go fast. Everything has been tasty and hot. No complaints.

Thank you for that reply.

I'm so sorry about your weather!! My oldest son and I had the same experience in Dec 2009 - when we landed in the airport, Orlando was under a tornado watch! Fortunately that was a short trip, but it just rained continually on our MK day - we had MVMCP tix for that night too, and really ended up having a ball, but it was so wet and miserable! (that was the day they were supposed to tape the Christmas parade, but had to reschedule)

All that planning we do, and we just can't control Mother Nature! Crystal Palace is a must-do for us, so enjoy tonight :goodvibes
