Liesbeth, we used a matt magnetic paper to print our roaming magnet on because we found that even permanent markers don't write on the glossy ones.
Thanks, I will use some other paper.

There's definately three so far, we'll I've seen three posted on here but there's probably more. I think a good rule of thumb is to put it on a door with a FE or with door magnets, that's what I'm planning on doing. I just hope they all make it home at the end of the cruise. I'd hate to see any of them going missing.
Sept 10 out of London City at 7a
Well just 3 weeks today and we will be waking up on our first sea day.
I hope it will be a calm sunny one and we can all enjoy walking the decks and enjoying all that the Magic has to offer. Relaxing, sitting and enjoying a coffee, relaxing. Ahhhhhhhhhh.
(Off to have a minor panic attack now!)
A couple of months ago, I mentioned here on disboards about a getting a group to go walking each "non-port" day (to help ward off those pesky "evening dinner & FAB'S" lbs that seem to sneak up on us!), and there was a good response. Was just checking in to see if people would still be interested? Since the time is getting closer, just thought I'd ask to those interested if you wanted to meet about 9:00 am in front of Luminere's by the Mickey Statue? I walk fast and do my best walking when I'm talking! Would love to have company if anyone is interested!!!
I found this out the hard way. Many US credit cards add an overseas transaction fee (can be $1 to $3 depending)! In fact, only 1 of my 4 cards didn't (Capital One). So check with your bank before choosing which card to use, or get a new one that has no fees. The fees really added up, especially if you don't want to carry cash, and use the card for lots of small purchases.
Hope that helps!
So far I've seen travelling trevor the teddy bear, pat's travelling stitch, and my Mickey across the Atlantic one.
Anyone got any more they haven't posted a photo of yet?
And on another note it's such a lovely day today, so have decided to try and sort some packing out. It's going a lot slower than I hoped... and at this rate I will still be packing the night before. But I address this to the ladies... why is it that my DH doesn't understand my need to try everthing on that I'm packing just in case the clothes fairy has sneaked and altered them I just can't pack anyother way.......just have get clothes everywhere at the moment !!

Thanks for the great offer, but I'm taking the disney transfer. It was a decent deal because I needed the ride from the ship to MCO as early as possible in orlando on the way back. I'll keep an eye out for you all.Not sure what your plans for the 10th are but I'm organising an airport to port transfer for the 10th, leaving airport at 11.45am, should be at the port at 12.15pm ish. It's 10 euros per person. Still got two spaces left. Let me know if you're interested
I'd love to! I like walking. Most airports have major currencies on hand and Euros for sure. Agree that if you exchange the $1000 without fees that would be good. You could probably use the extra Euros toward your bill on the ship or exchange them back when you get back to MCO. Rates in airports tend to be okay, not horrible. Better than on the street at exchange booths. I know I have said this before, but ATMs tend to have the best rates, so if you don't want that much in Euros (700), you should consider just using your ATM card in Barcelona airport. Just be sure and let the bank know. I feel like I sound like a broken record, but all this talk about how people use their ATM cards in America, you can do the same in all the parts of Europe we will go on this trip so you can get cash for those places that don't take cards.

Another note on exchaning money at MCO. You can charge it as a purchase, not cash advance, and if you want, you can get an international debit card instead of the actual bills.
Not to early for a beer is it?

How many travelling magnets will be doing the rounds? How are you hoping it will work as I don't think there is going to be a list with room numbers on? I would love to sign them and move them along to another Dis door.

The only problem with using my ATM card is that my bank charges for transactions at anyone else's ATM. I can't recall how much - I'll have to check. How do you know what the exchange rate will be? I know when I asked about buying Euros at the bank their exchange rate was a little higher (worse) than Travelex (I came home and looked it up).
I got a Capitol One card just to use in non-US currency ports. I hate transaction fees and Chase Visa's are high.
Good. I think we'll be using Dennis' Discover card for that. Would the debit card work like an ATM card? Is that what the Travelex Cash Passport is? I know we're going to have to carry some cash around. I would assume places that don't take credit cards wouldn't take a debit card either.
With respect to the Travelex card, I use it for small purchases or cash at an ATM. Last year on the WBTA, John made the mistake during the trip of once using our regular Visa. The number was stolen and when we got home we had to get a new card. We do not use the Travelex card for car rentals or hotels as they place large holds which take a long time to release.
What about the suggestion (forgot who made it) that we just use cabin numbers and DISnames for a list? I know we have some solo women here, and I certainly wouldn't want that "advertised" if it was me. Same with people with small children.
I started playing with this, searching through the lists of different activities, excursions, etc., and I've come up with a list of 112 DISnames. I've found room numbers for 70 of these, and the rest I've listed as TBD. I know a lot of people are still waiting for their room assignments (HEL-LLOOOO, DCL??? YOU'RE SERIOUSLY IMPEDING OUR PLANNING HERE!!!), but quite a few others are people who have only posted a couple of times here, and there is no way of knowing their room number - and possibly no way of finding it unless they surface in the next two weeks.
I could post it on the Google groups page, and those of us who are members there could always email it to people on the list who aren't, but want a copy. Or better yet, maybe Karen could post it as part of her roll call on page 1, or I could do a post for that. Then everyone can check their room number and see that it's correct. I think some of the info I found was a bit out of date, with room changes and all.
As rooms get assigned, I'll update the list - I'll need PM's here, though, so I don't miss anyone. I think it would be okay to assume that no one will object to this, as everything I've listed is available somewhere on the DIS (like in the mixology list) or posted somewhere else that's more or less public (Noel's site, the Google page). If they do, they can let me know and I'll remove their info. What do you think?
Regarding cc and their European charges - mine does charge 3% of the amount charged (Chase), so I am prepaying a VISA card through AAA and avoiding using my own cc on the trip. My dd can add more funds to it, if needed, here at home. I can count on the interest charged to come right out of my AAA Visa. No surprises when i get home. It will kinda help me control my spending (I need that).

I'm one of the cruisers who is arriving in Barcelona on the 10th. Please wish us safe flights, on time, no troubles. Remember that some people are barely able to get time off for the cruise without adding extra days. Sure, I'd have enjoyed spending some time in Barcelona, but that just wasn't possible.
Wish us luck.
It will all be fine!
Everyone's flights will arrive on time, with all luggage intact, and there will be no hurricanes, tropical storms, or anything other than perfect weather from the time we all leave home til we arrive back, safe and sound.
We Fairy Godmothers will take care of that!
