Room only discount code club

Was just getting ready to book the Dolphin at $139 per night (pre-pay non refundable rate) then got an email this morning. Here are the details for those of you that are still waiting.
Deluxe’s
Animal Kingdom lodge. Price without pin $280, price with pin $182
Saratoga Springs reg. $325 (studio) is now $211
Wilderness lodge Regular $330 is now $214
Contemporary reg. $325 now $211
Moderate’s
Caribbean beach resort reg. price $164 now $123
Coronado Springs reg. $169 now $145

I am actually helping a honeymoon couple with this trip and the bride to be got the pin email. No current reservation, I just signed them up for emails about 2 months ago and she got this last night. I also signed up groom and myself and neither of us got the pin email.

I'm new hear and am wondering what the "pin number" is that you all are referring to! How do I get that as well?!

You can't unless Disney sends you a pin code. Pin codes are tied to the person/family they are sent to. The codes come in snail mail or email. They are pretty rare. They vary in dates and discounts. Read post 609 of this thread for a little more information on how to increase you chances of getting one.

It just can in an email. I signed up for the email list over on the Disney website and it just appeared this morning. I probably signed up about 2-3 months ago and this is the first I have gotten. I think there must be some magic involved as I was getting ready to book the Swan/Dolphin today and this morning it appeared. :rotfl:

The dining plan is ~$45/person/night, so with those discount rates, they are better off with the room only discount IF they go deluxe. At the moderates, they would be better off with free dining. Of course, "better off" assumes they are going to eat all the food that is provided as part of the dining plan, which can be a lot. When I was on my honeymoon, I LOVED the convenience of knowing my food was pre-paid, though, so even if we didn't make full use of the plan at the time, it was nice to have.

We stayed at AKL for our honeymoon, which was incredibly romantic in a savanna view room, sitting on our balcony relaxing with some good wine and watching the giraffes and zebra run by. It's really an experience you can't get anywhere else, so we loved it. We took the buses and it really wasn't that long a ride to any of the parks (though that was before Kidani was built, which has extended the ride a bit).

I think the Contemporary with its views of the magic kingdom fireworks can be romantic, and you can't beat the convenience, but the overall decor isn't all that romantic IMHO. If I was picking a different deluxe for my honeymoon besides AKL, it would be Polynesian, Grand Floridian, or Yacht/Beach Club, but those aren't on your list. Every couple is different though - we've stayed at pretty much all the resorts and love them all for different reasons!

Thanks for clearing up the question about which is the better deal. It makes sense now that you apply a price per person per day to it.

Seems like a whole new batch of PINs went out as my mother just received one this week as well. She skimmed it but it was something like 25% off values and 30-35% off mods/deluxes. Must book/travel by December 22, 2011.

Come on 2012!

What date do you have to book by?

Is there any reason people book online instead of by phone? When you book by phone you have much longer to make changes/make final payments etc. Am I missing something?

Why would you have longer to make changes when you book by phone? The dates are the same as far as I know. Though I don't usually book a package.

Personally, I do everything online. I hate having to pick up the phone. Plus it's much easier to see exactly what you're paying for and make sure you don't get something you don't want like insurance or tickets or anything else they like to add in.

Have not had good luck getting anyone knowledgeable in the phone in a long time. No luck with the last 3 I have talked to. The first gave me tons of incorrect info ("just take your luggage on the resort bus when you switch resorts- they have space under the bus"), the second royally screwed up my reservation, and the last one "fixed" it but it is in the wrong name on the confirmation. :rolleyes1

I don't know why it is, but it's true! I swear haha :) Only for room-only though I don't know about packages. The full payment isn't due until check-in, and you can make changes without penalty up to 5 days before (not 6).

You can check your reservation online, then you'll see that they didn't include something you didn't want.

with room only res. balance is never due until check-in. All you pay up-front is first night. Whether you call or do it on-line, with room-only you have until 5 days before to cancel. You have to call to cancel/modify, even if you book on-line. I hate having to call but I had to call this time b/c I was checking Passholder rates (my AP has expired -would've had to purchase before checking into resort- so I couldn't access Passholder site).
Over the phone, the CM told me there was a PIN attached to my household. I've never had this happen and have taken many trips to WDW. Good thing b/c there wasn't a Passholder rate available and I wouldn't have gone otherwise.

Just 2 more weeks!

Wow. I just saw the Visa offer for Jan and Feb 2012. I guess this means that there's nothing for November/December this year. :confused3

Doesn't look good for Nov/Dec! I still don't understand; I still see a lot of availability (at least for our dates) both with and without free dining. By the looks of things we are going to be staying in a pretty empty resort (no complaints here:thumbsup2)

Planing to stay two nights in Feb. To use the room discount, could I purchase the DP and one day park ticket as well?

Just as was getting depressed about a no room only offer for my Trip in November i read your post. What a positive spin on paying full price, i will truly enjoy having the hotel and staff to myself! thanks:thumbsup2
