I have a question -- I am thinking of booking Fort Wilderness Lodge -- Do the runners run by there during the 1/2 (which I am totally leaning towards more than the full)? My husband and son will be with me and I NEED them there cheering me on!!!! :cheer2:

I don't recall going near Wilderness Lodge during the half or the full. There are plenty of other places they can go to cheer you on.

No, they don't run by Fort Wilderness, or the Wilderness Lodge. The closest they come is World Drive before the parking toll booths for MK (or through, depending on the course - I've run through the booths before for the Princess. But I think for January, they swing us to the left to go around the Petty Driving Experience), or still on World Drive past the road to the entrance of WL. It might be the service entrance to WL, or maybe an exit only, I'm not sure, but it's not the main entrance, I don't think.

They can easily cheer you on at World Drive, directly in front of the Contemporary though! If they can get there that early in the morning! I'm not sure if you'll have a car, or want to walk, because I don't know if they operate the boats that early in the morning. That's somewhere around mile 5 or 6 for the Half on Saturday. Depending on how fast you are and what corall you're in, it could be around 6:15 or 7:30 in the morning!

Hope that helps!

Oh man. I haven't done a full marathon in 10 years, but I really want to run the Disney full at least once in my life, and with the 20th anniversary, this may be the year. YIKES!! I'd have a lot of work to do between now and then...

sunshine girl If you're in the Ann Arbor area, and you want to consider a group, you might want to check out Running Fit. They have running groups for various levels of experience. I'm not a participant, so I can't tell you how they are. Running Fit also puts on a lot of races, and if you volunteer you can get some nice perks. (Like $30 off race entry for one of the races they do--I've got race coupons to use up!)

I'm sorry if this question has already been asked. How early does the 5K get sold out?

I just saw that the Disneyland 5K for September is already sold out and I'm freaking out a little. I'd love to participate in the WDW 5K in January 2013, but I'll be giving birth in June and there is no way I can commit to the race so soon after that. I want to have a few months to think about it.

If my memory serves, it was well into November before any of the Marathon Weekend races sold out.

I went on the race site today and was looking the registration for the race. Didn't see anything about the marathon, but on the message board on the right hand side, I saw it said that the 1/2 was $60, $50 for FL residents and Goofy was only $298!! I got excited b/c it's cheaper than the $350, and then... I woke up! :sad2: If only the reg fees could be as cheap as my dream! Oh well! :goodvibes

Had a nice talk with my hubby today and I've set my sights on the 2013 Tinkerbell Half! I'm excited as I've never been to Disneyland and I've never run a half marathon. I feel like I need this to get myself healthy and be the person I want to be...

I have 11 months to train...here goes nothing! :)

I just started really running about a year ago. I have done three halves (including the Donald this year), and average about 30-35 miles per week. My first Marathon is in just over two months, after that I am going to decide whether or not to do the Marathon or go for the Goofy.

It sounds like you have a good running base. And if you have been following a good training plan for your Full, then are on your way to being a Marathon Finisher!

If you are like me, always looking for the next challenge, then definitely evaluate how you body responded to the Full. What kind of recovery you required, how your legs felt, etc. Then make your decision. You will have plenty of time to make the call.

Next year is the 20th anniversary of the Full at Disney. That is going to be epic, with a special medal, etc. So I would recommend running the Full at the very least. There are Goofy training plans that you can follow to make sure you are prepped for that challenge. And you would have plenty of time to prepare for that.

I am going Dopey next year. I am running my first Full in October. I am betting on maintaining my fitness level for the Full between then and January, while training for the back-to-back aspects. It might be a little crazy/ambitious but I love a challenge.

And we have WISHers here who will help make sure we do what we need to do to be 'ready'.

You will love running it !!! It's a great race to be your first 1/2. It was hands down my favorite race and I've been doing the DL 1/2 for years.

You've got 11 months to train and most importantly get your costume together.

Congrats on your decision to run. Good luck :)

i just started my training for 2013 1/2 princess half marathon!! i started with 5k slowly i will do more.. :cool1::cheer2:

Yep, I got a little "save the date" card in this weekend's race packet: 2013 Princess Half weekend will be Feb. 22-24. Registration opens July 10. :thumbsup2

Thanks for sharing!!
