Official 2012 Wine and Dine ½ Marathon Thread

It is actually hilarious that people on the runDisney Facebook are complaining that they had to take a cab back to their non-host resort. I don't get what's so hard about staying at a host resort.

We stayed at Old Key West because we wanted to use our DVC points and SSR, BCV, and BWV were sold out when we made our plans. I was glad to take a cab, no waiting and it dropped us off right at our door. I was SO tired, I thought the cab worked out great.

I went in with a broken toe, barely ate anything all day before the race (how stupid was that?) and decided I wanted to get pics of stuff - so my time was nowhere near what I wanted it to be. No biggie, I still had a blast.

Anyone see this sign along the way? My coworkers came out to cheer me on, and I was dying laughing at everything they had (a loud horn, glitter, etc):

Yeah, I remember it.

I also remember the great signs outside if DHS: "Run like her husband just got home" and is that Gu in your pants are you just happy to see me". We were all cracking up. I think there was another sign but don't remember what it said.

Yeah I saw those signs. I think one said "runners do it longer". It was a nice laugh 10 miles in.

Those signs were the best! So "unDisney" like.:hyper: I think that's why they were so hilarious!:lmao: I was wondering how those people got out on the parkway and along the road since traffic was shut down. They may have only been there to cheer one one or two people, but they were great cheering sections!:thumbsup2:banana::yay:

I remember those...I started cracking up at those! :lmao:

I actually stopped and took a picture of that one! I love it!

And "Keep going! Keep going! (That's what she said.)"

I had an okay race. I've been battling some knee issues during my full marathon training, so I was trying my best to manage that. I am a run/walk person and tried primarily to stay to the right, but there were so many run/walkers in C that it didn't seem to matter. Also, my walk is as fast as some of the slower runners (~13:30mm), so I didn't feel like many people were passing me or bothered. I did not have trouble weaving around walking people myself. But I suppose some of that has to do with expectations. Since I run/walk, I was happy to switch up the intervals if there was a super crowded patch, then just run again when it cleared. My disappointment was that the lines for character photos seemed much more crowded this year. Every line I saw (except army man) had a line with a minimum of 10 people. Even the after party seemed to have longer character lines. I'm just a little disappointed that I have almost no photos. But overall, I thought the race was a good one. DH and I are making plans to return next year and hope to talk our best friend into coming with us.

I'm sorry I missed everyone at the photo/meet. I must have ended up at the wrong spot because I never saw any WISH peeps.

Sounds like a good race!

Do you like the nov run better than end if sept?

I'm thinking about next year. You guys are inspiring me!

How many corrals did they have?

Well ToT was held at the end of September and there were many complaints of it being very hot and humid. This was my first Wine & Dine (and first half ever), and I was very thankful for it being in November. I thought we had perfect running temps and never once did I feel too hot (I ran in a sleeveless tech tank, arm sleeves, and compression shorts with a skirt over it). I think I would have been miserable had they kept it in September. Although the ToT's theme appeals to me, hot & humid does not. Though, I still intended on doing W&D even if it stayed in September.

As was stated, there were 6 corrals going by letters A-F.

It was so nice to see so many WISHers at the meet on Saturday. :teeth: Sorry to have missed some of you. :flower3:

Seriously! How did I miss this? I couldn't find anyone!

 You were definitely one of the people I missed. There were only a few of us wearing WISH shirts and there were so, so many people milling around. We broke up pretty fast after the picture at 8:45 p.m. so we could all go stand in line for the porta-potties for an hour. ;)

OMG yes those lines were almost as bad as the line for Mickey. That Mickey line was Crazy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Did anyone wait?? Im curious how long they waited.

I have run all 3 wine and dine half and I think they finally have the race down. They finally did away with the blinding lights at the speed bumps leaving Animal Kingdom, bag drop and pickup is now longer an issue and the communication of the volunteers was amazing! I really like that they were calling out the flavors of the gel packs so you could try to grab a flavor you like. I always seem to get mocha and I can't stand coffee.

I am not sure about the switch to the last weekend of food and wine. It was crazy busy in the parks. I think due to the final weekend of food and wine and with the masses from New Jersey. I wish they would move it up to the second to last weekend, but I'm sure they will see how much money was brought in with the crowds and keep it the same for next year.

I did not notice any issues with crowds other than the very beginning, but I started towards the front of A. I had a very good time and more importantly came out injury free with 8 more weeks of training for the goofy.

You know I did not notice the crowds and I was there since Thursday. I went to every park (except DAK). You are correct a lot was happening this last weekend. Golf Classic, Festival of Masters, Last weekend of F&W, The Marathon, Veterans Weekend and I think something else but I forget.
