Ok, for those of you playing along at home - today was final decision day.

FIL saw the doctor this morning. He took the brace off (two weeks early) and put him in a soft collar. So in spite of how he feels, he's clearly recovering well. But of course he has a long way to go. The doctor told him no heavy lifting, nothing over his head and "don't make me regret taking this off early."

There was a point this evening where FIL decided he felt good today and maybe they should go for part of the time. But at this point everyone agrees that would not be a good idea. They are definitely looking at the next trip though. Hoping I get that bounce back for Oct. and cross your fingers that we can go when Air Supply (MIL's favorite band) is playing.

Off to cancel rooms now. Much as I wanted a decision, this is very hard to do.

Its not the situation you wanted but at least you can move forward with a plan now. Great news that FIL is recovering .... he can look forward to the next trip :)

I agree with Sarah, it's better to be safe this time and that way he is fully recovered for the next trip.

Does anyone else get obsessive about cleaning their house before they leave for vacation? DH thinks I'm nuts... He always jokes that I'm cleaning the house so that if someone breaks in they think "wow, they cleaned for us!" I just like coming back to a clean house.

I am the same way!! It doesn't matter where we go or how long we stay, I HAVE to make sure the house is clean and all the clothes are caught up! Of course this time we are leaving our 2 sons at home (19 and 22) and I'm not sure making sure the house is clean will make any difference this time!!! LOL!

I can't believe we leave tomorrow!! DH is getting off early and we are driving at least half-way. That way, it puts us that much closer to WDW on Thursday and we'll still have plenty of time after we check in to go do something!! We packed our suitcases tonight. Still have plenty to do tomorrow before we leave!! I sure hope to see some of y'all while we are there! I will have my LG Mickey Head on my camera bag so be sure and say hello!! Oh my goodness, I can't believe our trip is finally here!!:cool1::banana:

Glad your FIL is recovering well. I know it was so hard to cancel the rooms. Thinking of y'all tonight!

OOOHHHHH Arwen... sounds sooo mystical! Love it! Pleasure is mine, ma'am! :flower3: but can I still call you Wedgie from time to time? :rotfl:

My movie would be appropriately titled "The wishes she would've been a Disney bride" or maybe "Psych! Not for you" (this is me using reverse psychology on myself)... lol helps with the zero-expecations mentality I need to adopt for this trip! :thumbsup2

Hi Christina... :wave2:

suddenly, I feel like we're all in a group home... I'm sure our SO's would agree we should be in one... lol

Hello my name is Christina (everyone says 'hi Christina'). And I'm addicted to WDW

I am thrilled that your Dad is recovering so quickly, but I am sorry he won't be able to go on the trip! At least you finally have a decision and you can look forward to your next trip!

I'm a newbie to the group - just joined in September. It's been so nice getting to know everyone! I'm Robin! Hello everyone!!

Oh wow ... at least they can look forward to a future trip, and this way you get to go with the split stay right?
And you can still do the laid-back version of your touring plans if you want to, even without having someone on the trip who "needs" them ... ;)
I rented from Buena Vista. There's a discount on AllEars.
Thanks! I'll look into them.

I like coming home to a house where nothing needs done. I even usually wash the night before we come home so that I can just put all the clothes away.

Ok, rooms are cancelled. I'll deal with the ADRs tomorrow.

Thanks for the kind thoughts. It's hard to be happy and sad and disappointed and relieved all at once. But it's nice to know you guys totally understand.

Going to bed. Tomorrow it will be all about Plan B. I'll post before I drop ADRs.

Thread getting close to 250!

I won't be near a computer with net access till late tomorrow afternoon, so if this thread reaches the point of being locked, I will start Part FIVE when I am in front of a computer. As per usual, please save the first 4 posts for me! Thanks. :thumbsup2

Yeah, I worked on my plans last night. I'm so happy with how relaxed they are. We get to spend plenty of time in FLE now. The rest of the time you can find us playing SOTMK or hanging out in WS. :)

It's not just you! After the hectic, craziness of a trip to anywhere, but especially Disney World, I need to come back to the calm and order of a nice clean house! And since I can't find any elves or fairies or mice to do it for me, it's on the list of things to do before we leave!

I don't have any of those to do mine either. But Mom is staying here with the kids while we are gone so I know our house will be clean when we get back. She stays with DS6 while I take DS2 to school for an hour on Fridays and my house is picked up stuff while we are gone.

I do that too! I love having the washer/dryer at Disney.

Oh my goodness! I'm not sure how much more of this "I'm leaving ...." malarkey I can take :faint:

Awe (((hugs))). Glad you have your decision and can move forward. I'm sure it's sad that they can't go but there is another trip you can plan
