I've been so busy at work that I haven't even had time to pop in here and let you all know how my run on Sunday went. It was a perfect December day - low 50s here in Southeast Wisconsin and not a flake of snow to have to deal with. (This is in stark contrast to early Decembers in years past). I set off from my front door, heading north. And just so you don't think this area is all beautiful vistas of Lake Michigan....
...we also have beautiful vistas of corn fields.
As for the run - it was a completely new route for me. It was a mix of residential streets, country roads, crushed gravel recreation path and paved pathways. I met Bambi and the kids at the Oak Creek Parkway, exactly
13.1 miles from home. Total Time:
2:24:49, or 11:00 minutes per mile. I felt pretty good afterward - we ate at a Sonic drive in because Bambi didn't want me to offend anyone inside a restaurant with my smell. Luckily, it was nice enough out that we could sit in the van with the windows down.
Later that night I even took Madison for a 1/4 mile run and Evan for his mile. I was a bit sore after that, but still not as bad as after my 11 or 12 mile runs.
So, now that I know I can survive 13.1 miles, I guess I need to work on my time. I'm pretty proud of myself for doing this one in under 2:30.
