Beautiful gowns once again!

Hope your back is feeling better!

That is so wonderful about Key West and Graham finding that snorkelling excursion from a catamaran. We did this in the Bahamas and I am a big water phobe and I just adored it! And to think you have a coral reef!

I was non plussed about Nassau until I found Diamonds international and tanzanite now I am obsessed. I just adore this gem.

I am sorry about your back. Congrats on passing the 50 day mark!

As I was reading I was thinking please give us a sneak preview of your dresses...thank you! I so look forward to seeing them on you the prototypes are beautiful. I love those Mickey ears!

Do you ever watch Sondra Celli and the dresses she makes? Oh my ever considered flying to Boston and scoring one of those babies?

I adore Tanzanite, but even looking for some Tanzanite in Nassau did not endear the place to me. I finally got some Tanzanite jewellery in Alaska last year.

There will be another dress update with some ready made dresses that I will wear for the cruise casual nights later in the trip report.

I had never heard of Sondra Celli and had to Google her. I love the dresses, but could not imagine wearing one of them. They are a little bit too much in your face for my personal taste. I can however appreciate them as pieces of art.

Those are all beautiful gowns. Cant wait to see the variation of color on the dress you already have.

They really are beautiful.

Beautiful gowns once again!

Hope your back is feeling better!

I am much better. I was a little stiff and sore when I first got up this morning, but by the time I arrived at work, I was fine.

Update coming right up.

The gowns have arrived this morning. This was a lovely surprise as I never received any notification that they had shipped. I suddenly got an email from our ladies in the sales office to let me know that there are a couple of packages for me. I was expected one from Amazon, but had no idea what the second one may be. In the end it turned out that it was actually three packages and two of them were the gowns. Two of them were roughly what I had expected, but even prettier than what I had hoped for. One is atrue Wedgwood blue with bright royal blue accents and the other is a pale lilac with Cadbury purple accents. I have decided to wear the blue one for the second formal night and the lilac one for semi-formal night.

The dress that I had made for the first formal night with the Golden Mickeys theme was a surprise. There must have been something lost in translation between the manufacturer in China and me. The dress is gold as I had requested, but instead of the dark blue embroidery that I had requested, it is actually a lovely shade of dark purple. I think I prefer this to what I had originally pictured. However, this has left me with a couple of headaches. To start off with, I don’t think purple and red really works too well together. So I have to give some thought as to if there is a way to alter the Minnie ears to match the dress.

The second issue was potentially more difficult to fix. I have commissioned some jewellery to go with the dress and we agreed on a combination of gold and blue oxidized wire and dark blue flower beads and Swarovski crystal. This would now no longer match the dress. I knew that the jewellery artist was going to start on the custom work last week, but as the other set is much more involved; I hoped that she started on that and we could still change the colour scheme for this set. Still, I figured that if she had already done this or did not have the beads in the right colour, then the dark blue would work as well. I emailed her as soon as I got home. Fortunately she has not started yet and will look at alternatives.

I have a day off tomorrow and will try them on. I will also try to take some photos of the dresses then. In the meantime here are some close up that show the colour and embroidery:

Oh my! They are lovely! Can't wait to see them on you in your cruise pics!

I guess I didn't comment on the Key West day. Sounds like a fun snorkel trip. Will you book or did you book it via Disney or on your own?

YAY for getting the dresses sent.
The embroidery looks amazing. Can't wait to see how it works.

Is there a way to pull the trimmings off the headband and fix something back with blue/purple colours instead?

Nor can I.

We booked this directly via the tour operator and even got a bit of an online discount. The excursions that Disney offers in Key West did not inspire me. We only booked Disney excursions in Cartagena and Puerto Vallarta.

I need to have a closer look at how easy it would be to pull off the trimmings. This was my first thought. The second was to paint over them with a purple glitter nail polish.

Oh what a nice surprise getting the dresses! Good job too as the Golden Mickey's number was slightly different to what you expected and you managed to change your jewellery order in time! Love the lilac with cadbury purple and adore wedgewood blue. Can't wait to see them on!

You will have to save Mickey ears for another night! Unless there is a way of recovering the ears with the right colour?

Yes, I am glad that they arrived a bit earlier than I had expected.

I will work something out for the ears.

Well, I tried the dresses on and they seem to fit well. I could not tie them up properly, but they still looked great. Here are some photos of them hanging up:

it looked like from the photo the red flowers might detach? I wonder if you could add the correct colour to match your golden mickey's dress instead.

I love all the dresses. I like to dress up like a princess too, but I've showed Fran your dresses and she says that I would upstage her too much and she'd be embarrassed and self conscious. So I'll be a vicarious princess through your dresses, jewels and tiaras.

Beautiful! The dresses look great on the hanger. Bet you'll be the best dressed gal on the cruise. :thumbsup2

Those gowns turned out really nice!

Thank you

I have to have a closer look at them over the weekend. If it can be done, I have already found some replacements that would work.

The dresses look great and I love love love those Minnie Ears.

The ears were literally love on first sight when I saw them.

They really turned out gorgeously!

Thank you.

I would have thought a Princess gown would go perfectly with Fran's tux.

That is kind of what I am trying to achieve ;)

As you know I absolutely adore dressing up and if I am quite honest, one of my dreams is to go on a more formal cruise where I would have to dress up every night. Graham does not quite share my enthusiasm. He has to wear a suit every day for his work and is not really inclined to dress up when we are on holiday. So I was very happy when he came back from town not so long ago being thrilled that he had seen some waistcoats in one of the shops. This is usually his one concession to dressing up. He took me to see them the following weekend and I was very excited to see a gold waistcoat that would be perfect for the formal night that coincides with the Golden Mickeys show. We could not see any price on it and unfortunately it turned out that it was part of their Formal Wear for Hire collection and not for sale. I did some browsing on Ebay and came across were similar waistcoats. They come with either a bow tie or a cravat. We are going with a bow tie for the two formal nights.

I think this will go perfectly with my gown for The Golden Mickeys:

I will wear my blue gown on the second formal night and I hope that this colour will compliment this:

This will go with the gown I am wearing for semi-formal night and also with the gown I am bringing for Palo:

Last, but not least, this will compliment my gown that I have bought for Prince and Princess night:

Looks like I will have a prince during this cruise and I can’t wait to see the photos.
