The gowns have arrived this morning. This was a lovely surprise as I never received any notification that they had shipped. I suddenly got an email from our ladies in the sales office to let me know that there are a couple of packages for me. I was expected one from
Amazon, but had no idea what the second one may be. In the end it turned out that it was actually three packages and two of them were the gowns. Two of them were roughly what I had expected, but even prettier than what I had hoped for. One is atrue Wedgwood blue with bright royal blue accents and the other is a pale lilac with Cadbury purple accents. I have decided to wear the blue one for the second formal night and the lilac one for semi-formal night.
The dress that I had made for the first formal night with the Golden Mickeys theme was a surprise. There must have been something lost in translation between the manufacturer in China and me. The dress is gold as I had requested, but instead of the dark blue embroidery that I had requested, it is actually a lovely shade of dark purple. I think I prefer this to what I had originally pictured. However, this has left me with a couple of headaches. To start off with, I dont think purple and red really works too well together. So I have to give some thought as to if there is a way to alter the Minnie ears to match the dress.
The second issue was potentially more difficult to fix. I have commissioned some jewellery to go with the dress and we agreed on a combination of gold and blue oxidized wire and dark blue flower beads and Swarovski crystal. This would now no longer match the dress. I knew that the jewellery artist was going to start on the custom work last week, but as the other set is much more involved; I hoped that she started on that and we could still change the colour scheme for this set. Still, I figured that if she had already done this or did not have the beads in the right colour, then the dark blue would work as well. I emailed her as soon as I got home. Fortunately she has not started yet and will look at alternatives.
I have a day off tomorrow and will try them on. I will also try to take some photos of the dresses then. In the meantime here are some close up that show the colour and embroidery:
