Unpopular Opinions

This thread is an excellent example of show preferences - I love the Golden Mickeys and have not been back to Toy Story since the first time I saw it, nor do I care for Aladdin.

Wishes is my favorite show - the world needs more Stitch!

I also love Nassau.

I do not get why anybody goes on the Aquaduck more than once. I did not think it was very fun. But, based on the lines, I am definitely in the minority.

I did not enjoy the Magic of animation show at AP on the Fanatsy and will try to avoid it from now on.

Yeah, what is wrong with people who enjoy being active, don't want to relax, and/or are on a tight budget having an opinion that a cabana wouldn't be an enjoyable or an affordable option.

To be fair, I think when a high-ticket item is involved, such as cabanas or concierge level, people on both sides read into posts a whole lot of judgement that simply isn't there.

(I've never seen anyone suggest there's something 'wrong' with not wanting a cabana. Saying it's essential for your own enjoyment doesn't equate to passing judgement on anyone else.)

One thing that annoys is there are people with strong opinions but have never ever done it themselves.

None of us can actually prove to each other that we have done anything. We might not even exist as we say we do online. (My first years online were on wedding planning boards which really bring out the crazies making up their whole online personas) You and I say we have sailed concierge and had a cabana at least once (and we have different opinions on how necessary they are to chide enjoyment). Prove it. We can't. Photoshop, editing software to make up a receipt, etc...can't be proven. So I think maybe your concern that people might not have done something could be softened with the realization that maybe even you haven't done something just because you say you have.

Most people who have looked into renting a cabana but haven't done it SAY that anyway, for example. :)

I loved the town of Skagway. The National Park Service has done a nice job in preserving and restoring old buildings. They also have a very nice brewpub in town. I know some people think Skagway is a tourist trap, but I liked Skagway very much.

We loved Skagway (and hated Ketchikan) and that combo seems to be the exact opposite of most people. Even looking at excursions now (vs 2003 when we were there) I still see nothing at Ketchikan besides the lumberjack show or *leaving* town.

Tipping in Palo and Remy, seems a few do not want to do it.
Toy Story show on the Wonder, a full house laughing and enjoying and a standing ovation, a few here do not like it.
Verandah a must in Alaska, a few do not agree. (Prices show most agree).

You are contradicting yourself. You are very opinionated whenever anyone posts about not sailing in a verandah room to Alaska when you have never done it!

Oh, and I'll unpopular opinion an unpopular opinion: yeah, sometimes there's no substitute for being there, but I think an adequate amount of research qualifies someone to hold as strong an opinion as they like. If that weren't the case, we wouldn't have people who are designated experts in subjects like WWII. :)

This.

I don't think you have to visit a port to have a good idea whether you will like it or not. There are enough reviews, informations and videos to give you a pretty good idea.

I can see where some might enjoy the big porthole room better than a verandah but others may never understand why a "window" could ever be better.

Also yes, the food is very subjective. I have read where the food by the pool is horrible and others that have said they loved it. I haven't had anything bad yet, but I don't remember anything knocking my socks off either (other than Mickey Bars :) ). I'm pretty picky about food though.

That is one reason I haven't ask if Believe or Wishes are good shows for my teen DS and DH. I love that there is a mix of opinions on this site and that opens up a lot of opportunity to view things differently or in ways I may not have thought about
but I figure I would get lots of yes and no's so I haven't ask.

Love reading everyone's thoughts and opinions on here. Keep them coming! :)

i am really enjoying reading these..shows how different peoples likes/interests are..which is great.

My unpopular opinion from our Magic cruise:

I know I am in the minority LOL...but...we thought Palo Dinner was overrated, especially the souffle. Our server was awkward. The price was fair though. Maybe we are spoiled with living in a City with many great restaurants.

Just our experience... Disney's service was the same as any other cruise line we have sailed with. Our MDR servers, room host and Guest services did nothing different. hoping our upcoming fantasy cruise will give us that WOW we missed with the Magic.

I have to agree with you on Atlantis, we loved our day there and can't wait to do it again.

I do not like the Golden Mickeys. There, I said it......this seems to be a very popular show with a LOT of folks on this board and while I respect that, we just did not enjoy it and opted to leave during the show and have not watched it since then. Our FAVORITE show is Villains Tonight which seems to be unpopular on this board but we love it! :goodvibes

I also don't understand some folks that say you should have Palo brunch instead of dinner if you want a view. Every time that we've had dinner in Palo we have always had gorgeous views. Obviously, if you wait until it's full dark you will not have a view but if you get there early enough you will have a gorgeous view.

It's funny; I am the opposite. Villains Tonight was my least favorite show.

We had a great time on the Alaska cruise last year with an oceanview room. The verandah prices were way too high.
I like Nassau better than Grand Cayman. Imho, there is more to do in Nassau, and I thought it was cleaner than Grand Cayman. However, I did enjoy 7 mile beach in Grand Cayman.

I enjoy Castway Cay but I think it is over-rated. I would rather hang out at Cocoa Beach.

MUN

I really liked Skagway too, especially the railway.

I don't feel using my DVC points for cruising is a waste. But, watch, I will receive responses arguing the point that it is not a good way to spend my points........

Interesting about Atlantis though. I am glad that people love it there but for us spending that much money and receiving a lot less than we have in previous port adventures elsewhere kind of did that port in for us. Even though we ate lunch at 11:30, they were already out of Cesar dressing for their salads and were also out of cookies for their kid's meals. Little things surely but at a hundred dollars a person and there are five of us, I expect what is on their menu to be available especially since we ate at an early time. I would travel with DCL there again, perhaps to solidify my opinion, but would never spend a week there as a guest of that resort. It would bug me that here comes all the cruiser clogging the walkways and overtaking the services......

I never ate lunch there. Plus, we were only two adults last time and have a child under three this time, so it was worth it to us. If we were a family of four, I might not think it worth it.

The crab feast at George Inlet Lodge just outside of Ketchikan was great, but if you don't like seafood, it wouldn't be for you.

I never used our verandah. It was hot as balls out there and we were barely ever in the room. I'd have no problem with porthole or even inside based on the amount of time spent in our room.

Just tried the Palo Brunch for the first time. I was sooo excited to finally try it after five DCL cruises. What a disappointment! Service was fine but I found the food....eehh, nothing special. I tried the chicken parm that is raved about - eehh...nothing special. The best thing about brunch is the alcoholic drink and a couple of the desserts. They did not even have chocolate strawberries-only white chocolate. Yuck. Not worth the money and I would have been happier to eat at the buffet to grab a burger poolside.

All 8 of us in our party liked the beach and water in Nassau better than Castaway Cay. Didn't really get the rave of CC.

My family loved Villains Tonight and not so much the other shows like Golden Mickey or Believe (? Can't even rem the name).

We still like to tip well even if we hear a lot about the comment cards since we know how much work the servers are doing for us every day to make our vacation special.

:lmao:Now I don't feel so deprived - I simply can't justify the extra $ for a verandah, so it's inside & porthole for us. Thanks for the laugh! :D
