Almost ready to book for our end of August trip...we have been to the Poly many times, but never stayed there. I'm hearing about construction?? Can someone please let me know what this entails and if it would really affect our visit? I'm torn between choosing AKL or the Poly....we love the animals BUT that monorail will be looking dang good for a mid day break on a 90+ degree day, which is what is making me think the Poly would be best for my family this time around. THANKS :)
There is no particular construction that should be a negative impact. They're working on some of the balcony supports on some longhouses, but in Florida humidity exterior maintenance is a year-round thing. The second pool will be open by August.

Thank you! I'm not a complainer, just curious :) That's great to know about the pool, I know we will be spending lots of down time there. Super excited to be able to stay here!

The feature pool and splash area have been open for a while. It's the "boring pool" that's going to reopen. If anything, it'll lighten the load at the feature pool.

As aaarcher86 mentioned, the gate does require your band to enter. That said, it would be very easy to pool hop there. There is so much traffic in and out of those gates, you could wait 30 seconds for someone to open it and you're in. But, it's definitely not something I'd worry about. People will find a loophole or backdoor for just about anything. Enjoy the pools - they're beautiful.

When I was there last week, the gates got stuck a lot, so I would have to try a bunch of times with my magic band before they would open, and sometimes someone else would be leaving first. Some thing would happen to others when I was on the way out. It would be really easy with someone with a MB from another resort to just keep trying until someone else opens.

BTW, the "boring pool" will now have bar/grill, a hot tub, and much bigger deck space. It's a salt water pool too. Like you said, I think it's great that this pool will be more of a "place to be" and pull some traffic away from the feature pool (that's my hope at least!). I just got back from GF a few weeks ago and really appreciated that both pools had their own "scene." Hoping Poly will be the same way.

The new pool looks absolutely beautiful as well.

What is the status of the Oasis pool? We are going to be there in 34 days ! I hope its done!

I'm sure it will be open. Our view was the pool last week. The were putting final touches I it. It's very pretty and peaceful.
This makes me very happy! We have stayed there 3 times in the last year (3rd time in April) and I've been dying for that thing to be finished! I'm very excited!!!

I think the Poly is a great choice and as others have posted, construction shouldn't be a concern in August. AKL is great, but the Poly is just amazing! Happy planning :wizard:.

Can anyone tell me if the Poly gift shop has playing cards that are a "poly theme"?

I don't know the answer, but hopefully someone else will be able to answer :flower3:.

You will love it! Everything about the Poly is great (IMO) :goodvibes.

It sounds amazing! I can't wait to see it in person :).

Hope you have a great trip :yay:.

We're staying in the newer DVC studio rooms in May. I believe they are the long buildings nearest the TTC. I'm working on timing things for my itinerary, but I need to know how long to expect to walk to the TTC. I've read online that the path (shortcut) to the TTC was down or taken out, but I've also read it's back, maybe? Somewhere I read you need to walk around up by the bus stops, which seems like an unnecessarily long way around. Can someone please help me out and tell me if there's a path directly to the TTC?

Thanks so much!

Hi All! First time poster here, looking for some advice! Really looking forward to our April Poly visit - we are staying lagoon view, club level. We've camped at Fort Wilderness, stayed at a bunch of the moderates and the AKL - Kidani village, but this is our first time at the Poly and it really feels like a dream come true! With two young boys (5 and 2) I'm wondering if you would recommend a ground floor room (with patio) or balcony room? I'm wondering what I should request for the online check-in. I think there are only a couple of balcony rooms in our booking category anyway...but I'm wondering if there are better advantages to the ground floor with young kids? Thoughts??? Thanks in advance!!!

Based on this map, it would appear the walkway to TTC is open once again.

But I too would like to hear positive confirmation from somebody who has been there recently!

My nephew and I were scheduled to arrive this week and we were so excited! He passed away unexpectedly last Friday afternoon. We have visited DIsney World many times and were especially looking forward to staying at the Poly and had reservations for both Symphany in the Stars dessert party and the Club Villain. I don't think I will ever return to Disney as I can't imagine coming without him.

I will love and miss him everyday for the rest of my life. I am truly heart broken
I am so sorry for your loss. Hugs.

We have just booked our second Poly stay for mid-August, and I am having trouble deciding on my longhouse request. We are booking a garden view room. On our last poly trip we stayed in Tokelau, first floor, east side, close to the beach. My kids favorite thing was having direct access to run back and forth to the beach from our first floor room. I loved that they could run to the beach with dh while I sat on the patio with my coffee. If we are looking for easy direct access to a beach, what will our best bet be now? Based on Tikiman and touring plans, it looks like maybe Fiji or Aotearoa? We were never on that end of the resort on our last stay, so I am unfamiliar with it.
