Unpopular Restaurants with a Great Dish

There is a Chinese/Thai/Japanses restaurant near my home where after visiting many times, they only make a single dish that I like. And I actually love it.

I don't think its fair to fully judge a restaurant on one dish, but Disney being a tourist location its not easy to give 2nd chances to restaurants. So I imagine that there might be some really unpopular restaurants out there that actually have something on their menu that is really good.

Has anyone out there fell in love with a dish at a restaurant that people typically avoid?

A lot of people don't like Tony's, but I love their shrimp scampi.

Katsura Grill gets a bad rep, because truly, their sushi and teriyaki dishes are, well...kinda terrible.

Their chicken katsu curry rice, however....is delicious. Hard dish to mess up here in the states, I'm sure they use Golden Curry, but regardless, it is fantastic and reminds us of the karē-raisu we ate all over Tokyo & Kyoto.

Sometimes the food at T-Rex gets meh reviews, but I had the mushroom ravioli with lobster sauce last trip & thought it was delicious.... One of the best dishes of the week

A lot of people give a so so review to Shutters over at CBR, but my husband and I went there in September and thought we had some of the best steak of our lives there.

We ate at Portobello in DS and DH still talks about the Gnocchi with Nonna's Sunday Pork Ragu.

Coral Reef seems to have a 'poor rep', but we like.......

-- Trout with White Beans & Greens.

Coral Reef: mahi mahi for entree & turtle cheesecake dessert
Restaurant Marrakesh: slow cooked leg of lamb. When I was there in Sept, it was much better than Raglan Road's lamb so kudos.

This is an interesting thread to follow as I am always fascinated with people's differing views on the same restaurants and their dishes. One man's trash is truly another man's treasure!

Nine Dragons gets a bad rap IMO. Lots of folks make the comment its like your neighborhood Chinese place around the corner, but its not like any place we have back home. The Honey Sesame Chicken is a must try if you go.

Love that and also their Kung Pao chicken if you like spicy. Not doused in sauce wither which makes it ten times better!

I have heard Beaches & Cream over at Yacht Club isn't a big hit with a lot of people, but my family went several years ago and tried the Kitchen Sink dessert and LOVED it! It was a serious challenge for the six of us if that gives you any idea on how big it is.

Here's a link to what's included in your dessert. ;)

We had lunch & desert there, very yummy and excellent service.

This is one that I am planning to hit with my family in December as I heard they made some positive changes recently. I ate there about... 15 years ago and really enjoyed the Kung Pao.

ABC Commissary-Asian Salad with Chicken- is a great alternative to everything else they have there.

I was hoping to contribute to this thread as I posted it, but really didn't have anything to add. But if I did, it would be ABC Commissary. Everyone in my family agreed the food was awful, especially their burgers. But I tasted one of my kids Chicken Strips and it was very good. But I believe those strips are standard across all parks, so I didn't mention it.
