Disney's ART OF ANIMATION RESORT Information & Questions

Could anyone give me some details about the drawing class at AoA? How long is it? What kind of activities are involved? Trying to decide if it is worth the trip from POR for my art loving 9 year old. Thanks!

We were there a couple of months ago and did the class for our 7 yr old. It's about 30 long and very easy to follow along and fully comprehend. The artist came out and gave instructions through a TV that projected what he/she was drawing (in our case, it was Mickey). I think it would be worth the walk. You can then try out Landscape of Flavors afterwards to make it even more worthwhile!

Thanks so much for your message! Is it possible to walk from POR to AoA? i was under the impression we would have to take the bus from POR to Epcot then to AoA, but a walk would be way better if that was possible!

If you're interested in what it looks like here's a video. We're trying AoA for a night before our 8 night CBR stay and I was interested in the class myself so looked it up yesterday.

Drawing class starts at 31 seconds.

We've done 2 of the AoA drawing classes and will be doing one the day before our cruisevtoo. My 7yo dd and I both really enjoy them! I believe it would be worth the trip for your art living 9yo and as another mentioned, Landscapes of Flavor is a great food court!

Staying at AOA Nemo suite for 1 night this December and getting ready to check in/make room requests. How realistic is early check-in? Would love to be in the room by 12-1 to let my DS get a good nap before MVMCP. Should I make early check-in my only request? I would love to be close to transportation and quiet area as well, but don't want to be greedy! TIA! :flower1:

There are a lot of factors that determine whether or not you get an early check-in, but in my experience, in 7 Disney trips in the last 15 years, we've *always* been in our room before 3:00. And in all but one case, it was by about 1:00. Since we started using online check-in (our last 2 trips) and have indicated our arrival time, we've had even better luck. In 2015 we stayed in a Lion King suite and indicated that we would be arriving by 11:00 (I knew we'd be there some time between 11-12) and I said that early check-in was more important than our room requests. We got our room-ready text by 10:15 and our room location requests were also met. This past summer we stayed in a Nemo Suite and our room location requests were more important to us than early check-in. I knew we'd be arriving by about 10:30 but we didn't need to be anywhere on property until 4:00, so I didn't make early check-in a priority. Long story short, we got a text at 10:00 indicating our room wasn't ready yet and they'd text us when it was. We didn't actually arrive at AoA until about 11:45 (we wasted time at Walmart while stopping for drinks and snacks) and we still hadn't received a room-ready text. I figured I'd go to the front desk to check on things and just as I walked in the door I got the text that our room was ready (and our location requests were met).

If early check-in is truly your priority, then I would indicate that when you do online check-in. You can still indicate your room location preferences and you could still end up with those as well. The good thing about the Nemo suites is that they're all relatively close to transportation.

Has anyone here used the room requester on Touring Plans? I'm trying to figure out how to request a King Bed, close to transportation. I've never used it before so also not sure how successful it is making requests through them.

I have used it a few times and found it to be very accurate. I have not used it though to request something like a 'King room close to transportation.' My requests have always been for Room xxxx and I've gotten that room or something very close to it.

That's helpful, thank you! Is there a map that tells you which rooms have king beds? I feel like someone on here told me that King Beds are only on first floor, but I'm not positive on that.

Due to our flights being changed we are staying at AOA before we move our next resort ..kids are really excited about the Big pool. What are the pool hours as we arrive around 8pm

Hours vary by Season("usually" 9:00 PM,10:00 PM or 11:00 PM).:)

Any ideas on what the pool schedule might be for this month? We arrive there on the 19th. Thanks!

I was at Pop Century October 14-23 and the Pool Hours for all 6 Pools at POP and AoA were 9:00 AM-10:00 PM(the sign is HARD to read:))and those will "most likely" still be the hours for your trip if I had to guess.:)
