How many snow days have your schools had so far this winter?

Today is our second snow day where the schools are closed. My daughter, however, commutes to college and her University is open for business. While it is a nice little break during the week, I would much rather have school end a few days earlier in the summer when the weather is nice.

Funny thing today is that there is nothing happening weatherwise right now. We are expecting sleet and freezing rain to start soon, however. Because our district encompasses two towns with lots of hills and young drivers going to the high school, I guess it is the right call to make.

What about where you live? Any snow days yet?

Mid-east coast here. Oddly, we've have nothing. We usually have a few days by now. We've had a REALLY mild winter. Today and tomorrow we will be in the 60s (it's usually in the 20s/30s this time of year).

I often feel like there is an overabundance of caution these days with weather. Granted, no one wants an accident or to get stranded but sometimes they call the day off and there's nothing.

Usually, by now, we would have had at least a couple of snow days but we've only had one calamity day so far & it was because of fog.

Today is our first - Northeast New England. Not a speck coming from the sky yet, but it should be messy this afternoon. Of course, maybe our superintendent just wanted to go into Boston for the Patriots Superbowl parade?

Southeastern Massachusetts here and not a single snow day yet! We even started the school year earlier than usual this year, because we've been hit the past few years and the kids have ended up in school until the very end of June. This year, if all goes well for the rest of the winter, they'll be done on June 12th. That's the earliest I can remember them getting out!

We've had one snow/ice day, three early releases for upcoming bad weather in the evening.

One of the districts (Pollock Pines) here took 6 consecutive school days off.
I posted that on my Facebook and one of my cousins in Canada just laughed.....no snow days in his district, you just leave for school and work earlier if the weather is bad!

Atlanta here

Two...cough, cough..."snow" days. We got a very light ice coating, topped by 1/2" of snow...I think that was on a Friday night/Saturday morning. Schools were closed Monday and Tuesday. Still in total disbelief over the whole thing.

Are we neighbors???

Today is #4. Supposed to be sleet grossness most of the day, so I understand why they called it, even if it's not happening right now. Gotta keep the kids safe. AND now I can watch the Pat's parade!!!

I'm in the Northeast. We have had one snow day, a couple delays and an early dismissal so far. We are delayed today for freezing rain but it hasn't been doing anything the past hour.
I'm with you OP, I'd rather they don't use their snow days and make them up on long weekends when the weather is nice.

We've had next to no snow this year. Had one snow day, but it was more for ice. My daughter is now past hoping for snow days and is hoping for no more so she can get out earlier in May.

2 days here in Colorado. We have 4 built in to the calendar, so I'm always happy to get a few.

One snow day, one early dismissal day and counties around me are closed because of flu/strep outbreak right now

I'm in Jersey/Philly area. We haven't had any yet. Thursday morning is supposed to be really messy so I expect a 2 hour delay. Two days are built into our calendar. If we don't use our snow days the kids get a 5 day Memorial Day Weekend.

I think our school has had 2 days off and a 2-hour delay here in mid Michigan. They were both due to lake effect snow.

I think we're all neighbors! I have 1 son in our town schools (home) and 1 in a neighboring town private Catholic school (they didn't cancel). Try explaining that to a very jealous brother who had to get ready this morning!

We are in Athens and just closed early the first day around 3 on Friday, and weren't closed any of the other days and we are north of ya'll.
