Disney's FORT WILDERNESS CABINS & CAMPGROUNDS Information & Questions

Glad to have found this thread! This is one of the resorts I am checking out for our summer 2018 trip, yes I plan out quite a bit lol but it would be dh and i's 18th anniversary, my oldest daughter graduation present and my youngest girl first wdw trip and the middle one is along for all the fun, food and fabulous-ness! lol

A family of 5, I have been pricing out various scenarios, ASMu, AoA, CSR and now FW Cabins. Can anyone confirm that the sofa bed is a queen? I was thinking of putting the kids in the bedroom and he and I in the living room but just not sure. I guess we could try a night and see how it goes LOL That gives us time to wind down with out the kids etc. This trip is more about the kids and what they want to do, but keeping in our budget of course. I like that there are so many things to do there different than the rest of the resorts, horseback riding, pony rides, campfire etc. My 2 older kids love camping and the youngest wants to and well this is about as close to camping as I get :)

Does anyone know if they are still picking up laundry from the cabin? My DD will be staying for work and was not able to find this service listed on WDW site. Thanks

Can anyone confirm that there are not showers in the quiet pool comfort station? Thank you in advance!

I just read through the first multi-part information post on the first page. In the post with the photos of the laundry room, I did see it mentioned that they will pick-up laundry from the cabins. It said something about the laundry bag being in the closet. Instructions and hours were on that post.

Thanks for the reply. She checked in this weekend and found the info.

There are not showers at the pool. Just a laundry room and the restroom. The nearest loop with a shower is probably 1100.

I just booked 1 night in a cabin for my family of 5. My dd and I will be checking out of POFQ and into the cabin waiting on the arrival of my dh and my 2 sons. What cabin(s) would be closest to everything?

None of the cabin loops are close, but the 2200 loop would be the closest (actually, there are 2 cabins, but we don't talk about those because they are for cooperate use).

The cabin loops are approximately 2/3 - 1 mile away from the main pool, Pioneer Hall, marina, etc. So you will need to utilize some type of non-personal vehicle transportation (golf cart, bikes, bus system). The internal bus system is great, btw.

Can we take a golf cart from Fort Wilderness to The Wilderness Lodge one day and use their pool? also can we drive the gold cart right to the boat dock to take the boat over th the magic Kingdom? Im hoping Magic kingdon has its own private launch boat/dock for wilderness??thanks

You cannot take the golf cart from FW to WL. I do not believe you can use the WL pool. The only time I think that has been allowed in the past was if the main FW pool was out of commission. There is golf cart parking at the marina and more closer to the Settlement area if that parking closest to the marina is full. There are two lines at the boat dock. One for going directly to and from MK and one that goes between FW/WL/CR. On occasion, a direct MK boat may stop at WL on the way to or from the MK.

thank you...well that sucks..I thought they were all one big resort...sticking with CBR. Thanks again :)

We are thinking of staying in a cabin this summer. We stayed there a few years ago when they had the Murphy bed and my daughter thought is was comfortable. I read when the did the refurbishment they replaced the Murphy bed and put in a pull out sofa. Is the pull out sofa comfortable? My DH and I were thinking about letting the kids sleep in the room and we would sleep on the sofa bed.

Getting ready to join all of you who love Fort Wilderness May 28-June 3,2017 with a stay in a cabin. Would love to hear any tips you have. There will be me 52, Mom age 82 and 2 22 year olds. We chose the cabins because of having some cooking facilities for the diabetics in our group. I would to hear any tips you veterans have.

Possible stupid question... in the cabins, do they include coffee and the sugar/cream packs with the coffee maker like they do in other resorts, or do you have to bring your own? We are only staying one night in the cabin before transferring to WL. Gotta have my morning coffee!

There will be coffee in the Cabin

I have a question too. This may seem obvious but I'm going to throw it out there. We are probably going to rent a golf cart. I know there are many unique golf carts zipping about the resort that are owned by individuals, however, the rental carts can all pretty much look similar. If you rent a golf cart how do you tell them apart? Do they have placards like the rental strollers? I never noticed a placard on them. I don't want to park at the boat dock for instance, and then not know how to know which is mine when I return. :moped:
