Is this meal worth it. We really want to go to Yatchmans but will have been in the park ALL DAY and won't have time to go Change clothes so this seems to make more sense and less running in between places. Plus we can do it as a Fantasmic Package. The trip advisor reviews are meh. Would you try to figure something else our or go for it?

We haven't been in a few years but when we went is was delicious! It still ranks as one of my husband's favorite restaurants.

We went for the first time in April and were very pleasantly surprised! Started with the small cobb salad (so delicious, i loved how it was all shredded up) I had the filet of beef (very good) and my husband and i both got the mini deserts and each got 3 different ones so we could try them all! They were all amazing and the highlight of the meal (if you like desserts) (also, we dont always eat like that, just at disney with the deluxe dining plan!)

If you are on the regular DDP, and you paid for it, then HBD is not a very good "value" as it is 2 TS credits, and with the regular DDP you only get entrée, dessert, and drink. Getting to the $80 break even point will be tough. Even with the F! pkg attached, you're paying more with your credits than you would OOP, as it is only $69 and, again, your 2 TS credits are worth about $80.

We've been doing the Fantasmic! package here for years. We were there over the weekend and if you are on TIW then have them ring up the alcohol separately and plus I wanted a bowl of soup as an extra appetizer. It was pouring rain and I really wanted soup but also wanted the crab cake. Both were excellent and my DD and her BF got the cobb salad app which was just delicious. The filet was OK. Not the best I've ever had but still quite good. There was much better offerings years ago but the DDP shortened the menu.

The mini desserts were just enough.

December weather should be reasonable enough for you to wear more than acceptable attire to get to Yachtsman without issue.

Depending on what your transportation plan is, it might be easier for you to leave after Fantasmic/HS onto an AKL bus instead of trying to transfer back to AKL via AK from YC after Yachtsman or return to HS after Yachtsman if you're using a car. Although if there's a resort to resort transfer AK/AKL is probably one of the easiest off-monorail resort to resort transfers to perform.

I've never been to HBD and have always wanted to go, my past Yachtsman experience was just okay.

I'd personally seek out Shula's over Yachtsman but it'll depend on if you're on the DDP

We tried HBD for the first time on our most recent trip and we'll definitely be going back. We did lunch so nothing particularly fancy, but I had a really delicious sandwich and DH had a burger he really enjoyed. The desserts were a fancy little assortment of mini desserts and they were delicious as well. Service was also good.

HBD is the only TS restaurant we do every single trip (and I go twice a year). Last trip we did cheat and do the outside one but still I got my Cobb Salad. I love the atmosphere of the place and have never had bad service or a bad meal there.

I REALLY like the Brown Derby.
I went for the first time in 2012 with my brother (adult.) We ate at many restaurants that trip (Flying Fish, Via Napoli, Kouzzina) but we both agreed that our meal at Brown Derby was the best meal of our trip. We had lunch--the food was excellent, the service was superb!

I went again this past January with my husband. Again we had lunch. The service wasn't quite as amazing--I think it was just our particular waiter. It wasn't bad...just not as amazing as the previous time. The food was still excellent.

We are currently trying to figure out our ADRs for our January 2018 trip and Brown Derby is a likely candidate!

Even with the standard dining plan, I thought that you could get an appetizer at a signature restaurant. Since you're using two credits and all. Has this changed?

Nope...standard dining plan does not include appetizer no matter where you are dining or how many credits you are using. Has been this way since they took the app away from the regular DDP many, many years ago.

Now that is just wrong; what a rip-off. I suppose you could get an appetizer via the Fantasmic package, though not sure if that limits you as to entrees and desserts.

I usually hit the lounge more now, because it's a walk in. I spend so little time at HS anymore, its always a last minute decision if I'll stay long enough for lunch. But both the lounge and the restaurant are quite good.

Thanks for all the tips. Makes me feel much better about swapping this out from Le Cellier. Was just going to be a lot of Trouble to get over to Epcot when we are spending the rest of the day in DHS. We are on the Deluxe plan so we will get the appetizers even if we don't do a fantasmic package. I have decided to try to collect as many of the Glow Cube and Drink Glow Clips as possible this trip so excited to be able to the little Derby Hat from there.

We have only been here a few times. It's good but not a must do for us. I was actually disappointed in the Cobb Salad. It's chopped so finely that it is more like a minced salad, I found it mushy. It tasted good but the mushy texture just didn't work for me, I prefer some kind of "crispness" to my salads. The second time we went I got a salmon dish (not sure if they still have it), it was delicious!

We ate at both places last month. We liked both. HBD was a nice relaxing meal out of the hot park and got us fantasmic seats without a wait. I don't like the cob salad.we were on the DDP and there was no restrictions on what we ordered but the mini dessert was our only option for dessert. YM is in a whole other world. Better service and fantastic food. One note is the the dress at the YM has become way less regulated. We saw tons of people in park clothes.

My opinion was meh. Nice place for a snack and drink, great atmosphere for a park break. But my Cobb was NOT good. Wilted, minced, and oily. And I'll eat Cobb salad pretty much anywhere.

And park restaurant means little kids possibly running around or climbing on their booth. Not really something I mind but it's expensive to eat there, so next time I'd skip it and eat counter service or hop to Epcot unless all I wanted was an appetizer and glass of wine (those were good and much quicker than that salad)
