Pop Century Room Renovations

Strange some of us never saw the coffee station/window pics before. They look new, yet not.

That's weird they have drawers under the coffee station. Makes me wonder if they originally planned to put the refrigerator behind the double doors in the dresser, then realized people would use the drawers for clothing and switched it?

I still want to know what's behind the double doors in the dresser.

My guess is that they just obtained "stock" furniture for the test rooms and that's what was available. They also may not have known exactly what size refrigerator they'd be putting in the rooms at that time. I've noticed a few other minor differences between the test room and the actual room -- longer handles on the Inovabed, different chairs, different surface/top on the "end tables/cubes" beside the beds, outlets in the headboard....just to name a few. Maybe that could be our game to keep us occupied today -- "Spot the Differences". :D

And my guess for behind the double doors is.....A free trip to Disney World!!!! :) Actually I think it's a safe.

I agree. Yesterday I watched a video of a refurbished CSR room and that's where the safe is in those rooms.

I am going to be staying at Pop in December this year in a standard room. What are the odds of getting a new room? Any idea which sections are getting the makeovers first?
TIA

90s and 80s being worked on first, then going backwards through the decades. 90s seems Practically Ready to Open, and reportedly both 80s buildings are underway. No telling yet how far along they will be in December.

THANKS! Good to know!

Where is the info of the order in which the buildings are being done? Anyone think they will leave the 60s section for last? My husband thought maybe they wouldn't work on the buildings by the main pool area until the warmer weather is over. So maybe skip it and do it in the winter season, like December thru March. ??

Do you all think a cot/air mattress would fit at the foot of the Murphy bed? Allowing the person in Murphy bed to get out of bed on the side between the 2 beds instead of the side by the door?
This is my artistic mockup of a cot in that space (dont judge me LOL)

I worry about blocking the door in case of a fire so i am obsessing a bit over where we can fit a cot if we have a renovated room.

Ha! Love it.

In my non-professional opinion there is about 30 inches between the Murphy bed and the coffee bar. I based that on the 4 floor boards that I think are about 7.25 inches wide each.

I am leaning towards no only because when I booked December all preferred pool rooms were out of inventory from November thru holidays leaving me to believe they estimated being in reno by then - again just my assumption

Yeah, same for me for November, but how can all Preferred rooms not be available for November and December? I don't know what it means. LOL.

Somewhere way back in this thread (I think it was here and not the main POP FAQ thread) one of our posters was at POP and spoke to someone involved in construction who said they would go backwards through the decades and bldg 2 in the 50s would be last.

@FinnsMom7 is talking about Preferred Pool View rooms, which are all in the 2 60s buildings specifically facing the Hippy Dippy pool, so I can see them all being unavailable for booking at the same time. I think there are roughly 120 total Preferred Pool View rooms out of 2880 rooms in the whole resort.

I'm curious if the PPV rooms will still be unavailable in early 2018 when next year's rates come out. They may block them out for a few months until they have a better idea of when those buildings will be closed.
