Yeah, I was disappointed that Bette Midler didn't perform, but her acceptance speech more than made up for it.
A friend recently saw Dear Evan Hansen and Come From Away. She raved about the former but was so-so on the latter. She knows my tastes and said I probably wouldn't care for either. Based on the performances last night, she's probably right. Both were underwhelming IMO. In fact, none of the performances from ANY of the shows made me want to buy a ticket. (I already saw Hello, Dolly!, but if I hadn't, that DHP song wouldn't entice me to go. Saw Miss Saigon 20+ years ago. While I enjoyed it, I really wouldn't want to see it again.)
Why don't they do brief scenes from the plays? I might be interested in A Doll's House Part 2. I read the Ibsen version in college.
