Brazil - the next likely pavilion

Well, World Showcase already has an Islamic prayer tower in Morocco. If they add the Christ the Redeemer statue for Brazil then they'll just need to add Israel as the next country (recreation of the Western Wall?) so that all 3 of the major Abrahamic religions are represented.

Large tour groups, much like many of the original countries when Epcot opened???? Seems like it makes perfect business sense. Anyone remember when french was the second language on all the announcements, not spanish? I mean why would the French want to visit a "Disnified" version of their country? Because they could.

And does Epcot really "need" any countries? Not really. They need newer draws to what's already there.

If you're suggesting that they'll attract more tour groups from Brazil...then that opinion is formed without an eye to global economics. Brazil has real problems...the tour crowd has already peaked.

But I don't mind it if they add things to Epcot...we are still way in the "net loss" category in that park...mgm is as well but we're getting something...we've gotten nothing in Epcot but festival booths moved in an out of storage.

Yeah...can't wait...

And you forgot the 40 foot statue of tom cruise

Perhaps they should just buy Holy Land and call it a day....

although the counter to this was that Californians didn't really want to visit a California themed theme park until they added Cars Land

I agree, I'd much rather see rides added into World Showcase than countries. There's only been 2 real attractions in this section (not including the movies). Give us Mulan, Pinocchio, Mary Poppins or Alice in Wonderland and of course a Ratatouille ride.

I was hoping for a Transylvania and a "night with vlad the impaler" attraction myself
Romania would be great - beautiful country especially Brasov and the Carpathian mountains and last time I visited all you needed was $2 dollars US payable immediately to the policia to fix whatever technicality you breached.
That said, Europe is pretty much already well represented and Greece has a lot to draw from historically so would seem a better choice if they wanted another European type country.

I'm a California native and I quite enjoyed riding the CA version of Soarin (in both CA and Florida) it was fun to recognize the various scenic places in my state.

Or in case you get confused on your way to the magic kingdom...just go to Epcot instead...

Come on...you really need that frivolity everyday you hang out there?

There is such a thing as overkill.

Ratatouille makes sense to me...I actually think nemo makes sense...

But it's not "match the cartoon to the country". Is everyone required to act like they're 7? At least let me get hammered at the beer stands next to all these cartoon rides first.

I got an idea! Alice in wonderland! We don't want another omnimover or boat ride. Let's do something like a mild version of Gringotts/beginning of The Mummy from universal. Down the rabbit hole, spiny craziness, bright colors and music. I also think of the unbirthday sequence from the old castle project show (the one that just ended, I called all of it Wishes)
A mild thrill

Yeah...I've been on that ride...

It was in Anaheim and Marne a vallee

Honestly I think Brazil gave us their answer as to what their pavilion would be ................. did you watch the opening/closing ceremony of the Olympics where countries showcase what makes them so special. Practically crickets. I saw carnival and a single model.

:worship: After mulling it and going round and round in my head .............. this is what makes the most sense for so many reasons.

- The WS was a way for people to travel back when travel was harder & more expensive, there was no internet or decent cable travel. It truly was a way to learn and experience food etc from other countries. None of those things is a problem anymore and the WS lost that purpose.
- There is never trouble getting dining reservations at Epcot, the last thing we need is more restaurants.
- Food & Wine have basically given them the opportunity to share foods from around the world.
- Same number of guests, this won't bring more, same amount of spending money, won't make more.
- Park needs LURE, that is attractions, not stores and restaurants.

They need stay on their path (and they keep veering) of only building cash generating projects. A few new countries will not do that. Attractions that draw in guests that have no world showcase interest will and time spent will lead to at least food dollars. Using those pads gives them room to build a good ride, not another boat ride.

I do think you need South American representation. I would prefer Chile, and a whole Machu Pichu look, but I will gladly accept Brazil if it comes as it has some great aspects for a pavilion.
I do think at some point you probably need an Austrailian/New Zealand area as well....

I would also welcome Egypt and India

Machu Pichu is Peru ... which is why I would have loved Peru. I also said Colombia because a pavilion designed to look like Cartegena would be beautiful and the foods etc could be introduced. Again I think it would be money spent with little return.

LOVE Australia or New Zealand but since their beauty is the land, I think AK would be a great location for a large addition with these. Nemo ... there are dinosaurs in Australia, what a great makeover that could be in Dinoland.

That would be pretty awesome. I'm not sure if everyone would agree with the décor though.

I have that detailed book ......... they would need a lot more of these. Big budget.

We enjoyed Maelstrom. OK, not top flight attraction, but, we enjoyed it. I am excited by the idea of the WS, as a way to get a flavour of a range of countries in a small space. I love the idea of getting glimpses of other cultures, foods, places. Of course, I understand that WS was always going to provide a caricature of such a thing (look at UK) But as an idea it was more appealing to me than the IP driven stuff. I am firmly in the NO camp for adding Frozen. I am sad that it is/ might go the way of IP. That s what the Magic Kingdom is for?
I love the Magic Kingdom, but, Epcot is something else, and the WS was, to me meant to be about travelling, seeing a snapshot of other than home.
I am not really in this to "win" and turn back the tide of IP based stuff. But, just registering an opinion.

Brazil Ride.

Get on a Carnival Float, which starts loud and mardi gras ish, show casing the music, then wends it's way through a coffee plantation, then, parrot flight style, moves through a small journey of the Amazon, where you fall off the edge of the Iguacu falls, wash up on the beach, and finish up at a football match.

Taadaa!

OR EMPEROR"S NEW GROOVE RACE TO THE THRONE...

Beyond disappointed if that is their choice.

Somebody check me but I think UP is tied to Venezuela and and Emperor's New Groove is Peru.

Peru (or Colombia) would have been of much more interest to me than Brazil if they were going for SA.

Had hoped that Greece would be the first new addition.

you're on my level sir
