Disney Riviera Resort

Were there any details provided as to how the gondola station might connect to the new resort? I would think direct access to the station from the main building would be key to selling this.
I don't believe the station will be directly connected to the building but they will be very close.

I am only speculating, but I believe this will end up being more beautiful than the picture makes it look. I'm thinking French Riviera? Maybe even GF level of "luxury". I have thought all along that it will not be difficult to separate this property from CBR and retheme it, give it a new life. *Maybe* they will share pool amenities, but I'm guessing no...

They will not to be able to share if they want to charge what they're asking per point for DVC. This will need to be completely separate for this to work, including bus service.

Looks like any hope thought that WDW was going to open up a moderate DVC category is gone.

They are going full on to the higher end.

Take down the mod and put in a "luxury" DVC.

I still don't see how the "views" can be that great to command what I think the cost will be.

But I'm sure it will sell out and the move celebrated.

ETA: I think it was @skier_pete who called that they were not going to go mod with it. Credit where it is due......

I agree, it will need to be separate as much as possible, to maintain the "deluxe" image associated with DVC (or desired by DVD, anyway). Unfortunately that means higher dues costs for Riviera owners, since they'll have to pay operating costs for any transportation that's not shared with other resorts (buses, for instance). Costs of shared transportation (gondolas, I assume) will be shared by Riviera owners.

I was wondering that myself. How will the views of CBR integrate into the theme of this resort?

Honestly, I never even considered that they'd go moderate with DVC. It's clearly successful as is. I do think it's a shame that they would remove mod hotel to add deluxe DVC though.

I think that them doing this very clearly shows their priorities. It'll be interesting to see how it's all set up but to me this looks unpleasant for both the dvc owners and the resort guests.

Some are on the first page of the old gondola thread.
Do you mean this? Doesn't show the resort mocked up but we can see where it'll be from the pic above... even if they have the shape of the bldg wrong...

"Luxury" by hospitals industry standards...requires certain criteria to be classified as such.

Disney does not do that. It's too expensive and they don't design for it.

This is gonna be bay lake in separate fence next to Caribbean...more or less.

You have to wonder what you think that's worth? That's the question.

Unknown at this time.

DVCNews.com has an article showing placement of the Riviera relative to remaining CBR sections as well as placement of a new pond to increase the sense of separation between the two.

IF the rooftop restaurant is NOT Rivera DVC
exclusive,

AND since the gondolas are already shared with 1000s of NON-Riviera guests,

THEN WHY drop $25K to buy-in
in CBR's backyard?!
Doesn't sound Deluxe to me!!!!!

No different than buying in at the poly or GF. Those resorts don't have DVC exclusive dining or lounges. They all have monorail access also shared by thousands.

But the monorail is shared by far fewer than the gondolas will be... ... I think that matters in this context.

To be honest...it has to bring a lot more than that at the current prices...

People are way downplaying the reality that all previous dvc offerings of this type have mooched off existing deluxes/adjacent parks or both.

That is not the case here. A restaurant that people only want in a 2 hour window and a pool with a splash pad and the dvc circle slide isn't close to that.
