Skipping HS?

we are headed to WDW in January. My third trip, husbands first. We are considering skipping HS in favor of adding a 2nd AK day. I loved AK last time I went (before pandora/nighttime events). I loved Everest, the safari, the trails, rafikis planet watch, the bird show, dinosaur, and nemo. Lion king was closed, so I'd definitely like to see that. I could skip nemo as husband isn't a fan of shows. We'll see.

We are Disneyland APs/locals, so a lot at DHS isn't important to us.
- toy story- we enjoy it, but not enough to use a fast pass or wait in a long line. Low priority.
- ToT- would like to go on this. Husband doesn't really care
- rocking roller coaster- fun ride
- star tours/Star Wars- can't do the ride and not interested in the Star Wars shows and activities
- shows- we would be interested in the Indiana jones show, but not frozen, little mermaid or beauty and the beast (I've seen them. He's not big on shows)

Seems like a better call to get a full extra day in AK instead of doing 2 rides and a show at HS. Am I missing something?

We're skipping it this time, too. We went last year and it was so torn up. Considering they are still doing both Toy Story and SW renovations, it's not worth it to us.

Yeah seems like you have no Interest in Hollywood at all. Seems like a no brainer.

For us. Even with pandora we were done by 5 pm. But at HS there all day and still didn't do everything. But I have little kids so HS is a must. When we go back in 2019 with stars wars coming will have too be a 2 day park. It it's my favorite park. By far. The Star Wars launch bay were the best interactions our whole week.

Its all in whats important to you. DHS is our favorite park because of the 4 rides there. We don't even bother with the shows as we never have time for that. Plus they have the frozen coke stand right at the lake.

I would say the only thing you missed is Muppet Vision 3D (which you probably have seen in the past before it left Disneyland).

Do you not have hoppers? There is enough for me at HS to enjoy for a couple of half days because I love ToT and TSMM enough to ride more than once and I love the atmosphere at night. With a hopper you could do what you want there and leave. Even on a 2 day trip last year I spent some time at HS.

We went to DHS for part of our one day trip on 8-2-17. I could never go to WDW and not go to DHS. TOT is my favorite ride. DS15 loves RnRC. I really like the Frozen show. We love TSMM. We love Star Wars and A Galactic Spectacular is a great night time show.

I am generally a "yes DHS" guy. But I can full appreciate the Disneyland vet perspective..already know TSMM, Star Tours and ToT.
With hoppers, I would still recommend RnR.
Spending an extra day in the more unique AK (where EE is arguably better than RnR) can be a quality choice.

EE is better than RNR in what world? I had to buy pills this trip so I can maybe get on EE without getting sick when it goes backwards where I can ride RNR over and over again and its a lot more fund too.

Exactly, EE is a more intense coaster with more detailed themeing, so it's a better ride ;)

I was going to skip it on my Sept. solo trip but now my husband is going for the last couple of days and requested that we do DHS. So now it's back in the schedule. It means less time for me at AK.

Skip it! I planned on skipping it this last trip but wound up tacking it onto our Epcot day. DD really wanted to meet Star-Lord and Baby Groot and wanted to see the descendants memorabilia. I'm never going to complain about riding RnRC!
But if I had to choose between 2 days in AK or one in AK and one in DHS ... I'd drop DHS without ever thinking twice!

Even though I love RnRC and HTT, we're skipping the studios this November. There just isn't enough to do there to justify wasting a full day's ticket on it (we won't have hoppers), so we're doing a 2nd Epcot day instead. We can ALWAYS fill days at Epcot!

It is probably going to be a 2 day park because the place is going to be a zoo when Star Wars opens and probably for a long while after. Look how crowded AK is because of Pandora and Pandora has probably 1% of the fanatics that Star Wars has.

We have skipped it for the last several trips. Husband doesn't do coasters, so there's no need until they get some more things open.

Probably skip it. We're skipping it for now due to the closures and park rehabs

Rock n Roller Coaster and Fantasmic in the evening is the best thing going at DHS right now. If you feel you can go without those than skip it and get more out of the AK.

It just depends what you like to do. As you can see there are different opinions. We love HS and spend a full day. The rides, the shows, the meet and greets, the restaurants and then close it out with either Fantasmic or Star Wars desert party and fireworks. That doesn't count trying a few stops for snacks. Have fun no matter what you decide.
