Do you think dogs should be allowed in guests' rooms?

I know RPR over at Universal is dog friendly. It's a beautiful hotel, and despite four different stays, I've never seen a dog anywhere on the property.
Now, that being said, I am not a fan of the idea. I have two beautiful, boisterous, loving and wonderful Labradour Retirevers and I couldn't bring them. They would bark and bound out the door every time we opened it, they would need to be taken out to pee 100 times a day. Part of vacation is leaving them with our very competent and expensive pet sitter and knowing they are in good hands. They would be a nuisance at a hotel, and that's MY problem. It's certainly not the problem of other paying customers. Then again I don't let them stand in the yard and bark at home, and I've NEVER not picked up after them on a walk. NOT ONCE. NEVER. And I'd like to find the people that do that and kick them in the shin for making responsible pet owners look bad.

I guess this idea could work for certain dogs with certain personalities.. just not mine. And it seems like an unfair annoyance to put on other guests with the barking and mess.

If every pet owner were as considerate as you, I would feel much less strongly opposed to Disney's policy change. Sadly, I suspect that there are hoards of pet owners that simply don't give a flying you-know-what about their fellow Resort guests. I sincerely hope that I am proven wrong.

I haven't read through the whole thread but I'm sure this has been mentioned - what if you get stuck in a room next to/above/below a barking dog??? Not everyone is in the parks from open to close. Some people have kids that need to nap, etc....I think this idea sucks. (And this is coming from someone who has and loves animals)

For those asking for a direct phone number to contact Guest Relations, their number is (407) 560-2544. (The number in a previous post above is a general number for WDW).

They are saying dogs will be restricted to certain buildings and areas, but they do not seem to know yet whether dogs will be allowed on all the walking paths at these resorts.

Like many others, I already had a reservation coming up soon at one of the affected resorts, and it appears nothing else is available to switch to, so shortly before arrival. After this stay I would lean more towards offsite resorts for future trips.

Why is YC $75 a night and AoA only $50? As well as the Cabins etc. I can't see how a YC room is harder to clean than a Cabin or an AoA suite.

$50-75 a night...wow what a revenue generator if this catches on? How much do they pay the housekeeping staff? Let's say $15 an hour. Even if they designate special cleaners each day, let's say the person spends an extra hour on the room. So $15 of labor. Nice profit there

Wait until they figure out how much people will pay for a picture of their dog with characters.

I guess what I don’t get is the outrage UNLESS you’re TRULY allergic. But other than that, we ALL spend thousands of dollars & some of us do that multiple times a yr every yr. There are PLENTY of things that I’ve encountered from other guests that I don’t prefer or agree with. There are also some policies at WDW that I don’t agree with or prefer. But that is everywhere that you’re exposed to other ppl. That’s just how life goes. But I choose to focus on those things that I like that make continuing to go worth it for us. Most ppl are describing seemingly slight annoyances that MAY occur. To me, THAT’S entitled b/c some ppl have pointed out that this new policy offers benefits for them so it’s not just about you or your family. I think WDW is making an effort to accommodate a variety of guests interests (even if it’s for the $). The way they have proposed to do this seems reasonable.

However, fwiw, I do think that it sucks that they did not give existing guests booked a sooner notice...although they do that kinda stuff all the time with rehabs & closures.

I am not allergic. I was attacked by a dog on my way to school when I was a child. So I don't like dogs. I have gotten over my fear of most dogs. But I will cross the road to avoid passing a bigger dog on the sidewalk if I'm walking. The reason? I find many dog owners love their pets so much, they let their pets sniff, lick, jump on you and laughingly say, "Oh, they really like you!" I really prefer to not encounter dogs on pathways at resorts on my vacation for that reason. Many dog owners are very respectful, but some are not.

I vehemently disagree. But that's fine--just keep your smelly dog quiet and away from me (and out of the pool, restaurant, etc.)

I'm really curious just how long it'll take them to let us know what specific buildings are going to be pet friendly? I also have a stay coming up at one of these resorts.

I just phoned guest services to complain here's what they told me.

All rooms at dog friendly hotels will allow dogs.

2 dogs max of any size.

Dogs will be allowed on magical express if you have allergies you will have to wait for another bus.

You will not be moved from a resort if you have allergies, your options are request a deep clean, take a downgrade and get a partial refund or pay to upgrade. Even if you booked this as a pet free hotel.

This comes from corporate and guest services can't do anything.

Dogs will not be allowed on public areas, but guest services can't promise this will be policed.

Noisy dogs will be asked to leave, only well behaved dogs are allowed. Again they can't promise how this will be policed.

A deep clean will conist of carpet shampoo and cleaning of air vents, soft furniturings
Such as chair cushions, pillows, matteresses and duvet will not be changed.

I spoke to Darling on the guest relations phone line and Joseph.

As a fellow dog "attack" victim, I totally understand where you're coming from. I was five when my friend's grandparents' German Shepard charged my friend and me, brought us to the ground, and jumped on us. We were unattended in the backyard during the incident and, when we ran into the house crying hysterically, we were told, "Oh, she was just playing. She must like you!" Truth be told, the dog was usually a very good dog but the incident was traumatizing nonetheless. I still flinch when in the company of a big dog.:worried:

Wow, that "deep cleaning" sounds remarkably shallow...
More like inch-deep cleaning...

Ironically, the guests that are really against this will go hire the baddest bulldog lawyer they can find to hound Disney about throwing them a bone and changing this - unless of course a judge tells them they're just barking up the wrong tree.

Wow. For a company that has for YEARS catered to people with severe/serious food, etc. allergies, it sounds like they really don't want to take people with serious dog allergies into account. If they want to add the policy, fine. At least contain it to several buidlings, etc. Yes, I know... just don't stay there. And wait for the next DME bus. Too bad for you.
I was trying to stay positive that Disney will work this out well, but after reading this, not so much.

Twice for me.
