Trying to picture/understand the doggie relief areas, particularly at AofA. Is this area roped off? Are there signs indicating what to do? Do dogs just go on the grass in those designated spots? Has anyone seen photos of this yet?

Picture this: MK closes at 11, John, Mary, Billy Bob and Sally all get back from the parks around 12-12:30 and then have to take Fido, Fifi, Gloria and Pluto out to go potty walk, at the same time. And they're all in the "designated dog section". Yap yap yap. :worried:
Pretty bad situation, but even worse if they are too late. Uh Oh.....

No....Disney has stated that dogs will not be allowed on buses. Service animals are the exception under ADA which also allows dogs in any hotel room that a non ADA person can reserve.

Disney has said the dogs CAN use some buses, including Magical Express and the Resort loop buses, which would impact POR and FW. They are also permitted in the Minnie Vans so that is something to consider for highly allergic folks. Other than going back and forth to doggie daycare (which is now getting pricey) I have no idea where someone would go with their dog in a Minnie Van.

"Guest with dogs will be able to use Magical Express, Minnie Vans and internal buses at Fort Wilderness and Port Orleans, but dogs must travel in a pet carrier. Dogs will not be allowed on monorails or watercraft." WDWMagic

It simply doesn't matter because dogs can't read maps and if they happen to be in the Lobby with their owners when they need to go, that is where they will go. If they're in the rooms and need to go, then that will be the spot, etc.

And if they are roped/fenced off, which I would hope, how do you make the dog wait until they get to the proper area after they've been in the room for 7 hours.

I'm sure that Disney has polled different groups, at the parks, at resorts, at home.

The odd thing is that on this subject they don't seem to have surveyed anyone at all. Whenever there is any sort of guest poll or survey at WDW, the details always find their way onto the internet very quickly. I heard NOTHING about this until I got an advance heads-up from someone I know at POR just a few hours before the story was broken officially.

And why only give guests two days notice? It all seems to be very ad hoc and last-minute, and some CMs seem to be pretty much making up the guidelines and advice as they go along (although admittedly that's nothing new).

ALL dogs need to be in a pet carrier? I see them not being able to enforce this or easily making the exception. What about your typical golden retriever, german shepherd, boxer, etc? Are owners really going to be toting around carriers big enough to house those larger dogs?

Hopefully, someone will use the Minnie Van to take their dog to Best Friends for doggy daycare.

Not happy about this at all as my son has allergies and we are a family of five so we cannot book at just any resort.

And the majority of resorts still don't allow pets.

And IMO that's a valid point. Now there are options for more guests than previously existed. Non pet locations for those with allergies (albeit service animals have been and will continue to be able to stay in all resorts - in any room. And resorts that allow pets for those who travel with them.

Yes.

Not in a carrier, sorry you can't board the bus. I don't think it's going to be difficult.

Nope. So I don't see it being an issue with large dogs on the bus.

Yes, little four-legged Rex will enjoy the shared experience of riding Space Mountain with his owner, and both he and his owner will enjoy the wonderful food at Be Our Guest Restaurant, and that will be magical for all involved. Wait - oh, yeah, I forgot reality: bringing Rex to Disney will result in exactly zero shared experiences with his owner that they can't also enjoy at home. There will be no "special" magic to share, just walks and playing fetch like everywhere else.
No, but someone’s trip could be more magical enjoying the things you mentioned if they are not constantly worried about the well-being of a dog they love that they had to board far away from where they are when the dog doesn’t do well boarding.

And some dogs have never seen a "puppy pad" in their life. Resorts are optimistically including them in the puppy welcome package, but most dogs won't have a clue what they are for, and will choose another "spot" in the room during their 7 hour time out.

One thing I noticed on social media is that vloggers, bloggers, etc. are stating how “surprised” they are that so many people seem to be against this policy. I’m sure if we did a poll, 90% of those who count themselves as surprised would also say that they are dog owners. Just because people are polite to you and your pet doesn’t mean they like your pet.

Okay, I'm re-reading the policies and I have a question about the last one that maybe people who have stayed at other pet friendly hotels (maybe Universal, etc.) could answer. "Up to date vaccinations records must be available upon request". I thought I had read at some point that people checking in with dogs would have to show vaccination records, but this is worded in a more vague and relaxed way. I never stayed with my dog at a pet friendly hotel, what is the standard practice for that kind of thing? Are people usually asked for records or just as needed? What's the norm?

Do all of those resorts even have Minnie Vans yet? For some reason I thought out of the list of resorts that allowed animals that only YC had Minnie Van service as of now.

Yes.

They'd be flying in to be on MDE so yes, they would have a kennel for them. If not then they'd be service dogs and it doesn't apply to them.
