Last night during MMVMCP someone, I believe it was a child, fell off of the horse when trying to get off the ride. The ride had stopped and the woman in front of me screamed and when I looked all I saw were feet in the air. She fell directly onto the concrete head first. It was horrible. The horse she fell from was at the highest point when it stopped so it was a very high fall. They of course closed the ride and emergency responders were called. I hope she is ok, it looked so awful. We went on the ride later that night and there were 5 children in the group and it really made me think of how easily someone could fall. So please be extra careful!
Also on a side note, there was a woman standing on the other side of the queue from us that was directly in front of the family sitting on the ground attending to this girl, and the woman stood there taking pictures. Completely disgusting if you ask me...

Hope all are ok.
The kiddos do have to be careful when getting on and off the horses and often need help. Sometimes patients isn't their strong suit for sure. That's when it's up to mommy/daddy to be sure and keep them safe. I'm sure when you have multiple little ones it's not easy to train them to wait on you

Well, to be fair, there is a pretty big difference between the 2.
1 is a fair use to warn others to remember it can be dangerous as we can tend to forget things happen, especially if we have a little one that wants to do it "by myself"
the other is just flat out wrong to take someone else's image.
This person did not provide names or photos of the incident. I don't believe it crosses any personal privacy lines. Photos obviously do

It happens. I used to actually run a carousel. Kids would fall no matter how many safety precautions we took. Sometimes they don't listen. Sometimes they are just impatient. Sometimes mom and dad are not paying attention. Only so much that can be done. I can't even tell you the number of times I would have to come on the microphone and tell kids to sit down on the animals and not stand while the ride is in motion... with their parents right there! Ugh!

I hope the little girl is alright. It is a frightening thing to see and witness.

I agree 100%. I think it's so distasteful to stand there and record away while someone is in distress, I mean what are you going to do with that video? Post it on Facebook or other social media site? If that were me with my child, I think I'd be pretty PO'd about it. I think people who do this are vultures. JMO!

No, but it would be available footage for a lawsuit. Posting about it on a fan site? So the people who pretty much know WDW inside out can find out that you can fall off a carousel and get hurt?

I could see how this could easily happen even if the parent is paying attention. I rode behind my one year old with him buckled in, but had to trust my six year old to be able to mount and dismount his horse on his own because I simply didn't have enough hands. He even got his safety belt through and theni reached over and tightened it. But if he had slipped it would have been hard to catch him in time.

I would replace "big" with HUMONGOUS"lol!:)

Had the thread title been "Be Careful getting off the Prince Charming Carousel" I would agree, but the thread title was not that and was instead the OPs complete description of the proceedings.

There was no need for a description. The first and last sentence from the first paragraph would have been fine, with maybe also including a mention that the ride was closed for a while. The rest was the verbal equivalent of a photograph.

"Verbal equivalent of a photograph"... ... We really have to nitpick and criticize EVERYTHING on DIS these days, don't we? Eesh.

OP: You had a lot of nerve warning people to "Please be extra careful!" I mean, how DARE you??!?! :rolleyes1 I hope that you don't give this stuff a second thought! :)

I actually appreciated the detailed description, because while people realize a child can fall off of a carousel horse (and some of us might not think it's a big deal), I've never considered the scenario of falling off it from the highest point onto the concrete, head first at that. That could actually be very damaging. I have three boys and I've always had to ride the carousel with them, over and over, because the other adults get motion sickness. So I've had to strategize and stand between the two youngest as they ride rather than ride a horse myself. I'll be keeping this in mind.
