I love credit cards so much!

Because you applied under the old rules the TC resets at your December statement date regardless of when you applied. If either of you had applied after late May 2017 your TC would reset on a yearly basis instead. Enjoy your early TC, your account is doing exactly what it should be! (or if you haven't used your current TC- do it NOW!)
Thanks for the help- so apparently I have 2 TC starting Dec 18 (?right? one day after statement close?) and my goal is to use that first one asap before PC'ing (that's prob. why I forgot about the 2nd one, I was thinking about the one I needed to use first)
@Lain I replied before I saw your post.... so it's not necessarily the 17th for both cards..... I'll go check my actual dates again- thanks!

haha my TC gets used almost as fast as it hits my acct (It's an illness lol) If I can manage one more Tc on this one that makes a triple dip

Just had to share with those who would appreciate: I went under 5/24 on December 1st. I managed to wait about 36 hours before I got impatient and applied for the CIP in the wee hours of the morning on the 3rd. I've been waiting with the 30 day message and calling the status line once a day and today...it said I was approved!!! :cool1: Yay for all the UR points coming our way! Now just gotta spend $5K. :rotfl: Good thing we just finished our other spends and DH and I can both focus on this one for the next few months.
Congrats! My DH also went under on the 1st. Just need to get a little farther on my SPG Biz spend before we pick him a new card... :)

I just went to 4/24 this week too. I'm not sure what to do next. I really want to go for SW companion pass for 2019-20 (I'm getting to old to drive from VA to SW FL and Northern Michigan) but that seem like the stars really have to align in the 3rd quarter of 2018 to make happen. I'm at 3/24 in June and 2/24 in October.

Ok, I have been following this thread a long time so you would think I would know what to do, but need advice what to get next. I added quite a few cards last year, but haven't had a new one in a while. I need to get back in the game. I currently have both personal SW cards and am a AU on my husbands FU. So I am 3/24. I think the AU will fall off early 2018. My husband is also 3/24 with the CSR, FU (which was product changed from CSP) and the Marriott. He also has the Freedom and a Disney card we have had those a long time. I don't think I can do the spend for both sapphires to attempt a double dip. And we currently have zero travel plans so not sure when I will get my TC back so hesitant on the CSR. Thinking about the business Ink card, but am a nervous nelly with that one without a legit business even though I see people on here get approved for it all the time. Is there any spend that should NOT go on a business card?

My 25,000 SPG points posted for the $6k min. spend. The charges pushing me over were made Sun 12/3 and posted on Monday evening.

Included in that minimum spend were the following transactions:
$1,700 in Disney Gift Cards at Giant Eagle (grocery store)
$700 in Disney Gift Cards at Giant Eagle (grocery store)
$100 in Kohls Gift Cards at Giant Eagle (grocery store)
And I'm not sure which of these transactions put me over the $6k but there were SIX (6) transactions for $270 at Target Sunday for...you guessed it...$300 Target Gift Cards.

So I will say this is another recent datapoint that AMEX isn't worried about 3rd party gift cards at this time. Obviously anything can change in the future, but makes me very happy to report back to the group that the points posted. I should meet the additional $4k in the next month or so and will report back if any issues there.

I just started reading this thread from the beginning a few days ago and have learned so much! I'm wondering if I can check my understanding of something and get some advice:

I saw the SPG Amex offer for 25k points with a $3k spend. Amex's website shows the offer for 30 (incognito), so great. I'm looking at the Swan/Dolphin website and seeing 8k points/night for a 5 night stay (I'm guessing the typical 10k/night rate but 5th night free). So, if my math is right, between the bonus and the spend, I'd have enough points to cover the hotel entirely (I know the resort fee would be separate)... does that sound right?

I have enough points/companion fares on Alaska to get my family there for free, too. Not the best use of points/companion since we live in DC and airfare to MCO isn't that pricey, but free is free.

So here's the other question: I saw on Amex's website that I'm preapproved for Platinum, and I know they have a 100k bonus offer right now. I'm doing a ton of travel in 1H18 but that's already booked and paid for. So I'm trying to figure out whether it would be better to go for SPG (and it's waived annual fee/direct applicability to WDW) or Amex Plat with the much higher AF... I think the point conversion to SPG points for Swan/Dolphin is kind of a wash.

In my situation, what would you do? We weren't planning WDW 2018, but it suddenly looks a lot less prohibitively expensive than it did, thanks to this board!

A bit off topic, but thought someone might know. In September at the Dolphin, we got a bunch of the complimentary drink cards since it was our wedding. We didn't end up using them all. I don't see dates or anything on them, do you think I'd be able to use them when I'm there next weekend?

We'll be there next weekend too!

Looks like both AMEX and Chase will be offering a Marriott Card. I have the SPG Amex primarily for ability to transfer to Delta. Hoping Marriott Amex might have that as an option...will be interesting. New cards is always a good thing I think!

Yeah - saw that. I feel like I already have too many Amex cards. Is there a limit to how many personal Amex cards I can have? Feel like I read it somewhere . . .

It's kinda sad when I had a 1000 car repair and all I could think of when handing over my CC was "dang you hubby, if you'd have applied for the SW card they were offering when I asked you to we'd have 41000 RR points right now!!" he kills me... but apparently they've been offering him the same terms for a couple months now, they just did it again and we have until the 29th to apply. I thought I convinced him free points is a good thing but no movement on the actual application yet, grrr.

My hubby has given me the green light to apply for him. He jokes that he'll get an email at work that says . . ."You've been approved!" and has no clue what he's been approved for. Lol. Good thing I'm honest!

For those doing the new Marriott Chase offers ($10 back on $50 Lowes, $10 back on $25 Whole Foods), how long is it taking for the cash back to post? TIA!

Same here. Anymore, he tunes out as soon as I say "credit card," and says he doesn't care. If I think he should get it, he's fine with it. The less work he has to do, the better as far as he's concerned. I'm the one who rotates the cards in his wallet and puts stickers on them to make it as easy as possible.

Thanks! My Whole Foods purchase included a $10 gift card. The Lowes purchase was all gift card. Curious to see if it works!!

My Whole Foods purchase was a $50 Whole Foods gift card, split $25 on my Marriott and $25 on my AU Marriott (which, interestingly I had DH remove me as an AU over a year ago but it still works; that was part of this experiment for me). Got $10 back on each Marriott card.

Just curious...is anyone maxing out the Walmart.com and Best Buy Chase Pay promos? As far as I can tell, if you have all 4 UR earning cards, you'd end up with 13K from Walmart and 16K from Best Buy. It's so tempting, but I'm not currently in a position to float that much up front for gift cards. Please tell me someone here is taking advantage so I can live vicariously through you!

No limit to charge cards. 4 Credit is the general rule but many reports of people getting 5 by calling in. I've always just operated with 4.
The most recent article I found from Million Mile Secrets says there's no limit (on either) any more.

https://millionmilesecrets.com/2017/04/02/maximum-number-of-american-express-cards-you-can-have/

One Mile at a Time says 4 and 4. But that's older.

Both DH and I did the Best Buy one using my CSR and his Freedom. I really wanted Visa gift cards but couldn't find any. I ended up buying gas cards since we don't need any Disney right now.

I've ordered $325 in Walmart gift cards. Once they ship (if they ever do - it is taking FOREVER!) and the UR points credit, I'll do the same for DH's Freedom.

Should be 14,500 when done.
