2018 Disney Dining Plan Prices & General Discussion

So if you have to purchase for the kids just the same on the Deluxe Plan, how does it make sense to use those for the adults and buy the kids meals. I guess I still don't get it.
They charge less for the kids plan, but don’t designate those credits as kids. So, if you have 4 table service credits, 2 adults, 2 kids, you can go to a signature restaurant, use the 4 credits to pay for the two adults, then pay OOP for the 2 kids meals. It’s less money than using 8 credits at the signature restaurant.

Really...interesting. Thanks.

Just remember, this only works if you have the DELUXE plan. The regular dining plan won't allow it.

Also, the brochure does still state that "kids must order off the kid's menu," but Disney is not enforcing this for DELUXE and QUICK service credits. They could fix this in the system at any time and with NO announcement or warning.

For the record, I’ve never had the deluxe plan so never done it myself. With the QS, I’ll only do it because of the lack of variety at most restaurants. My kid likes things other than nuggets, mac n cheese, etc, but wouldn’t want plain grilled meat either.

Has it been confirmed / denied that drinks are included with buffets, and then more specifically breakfast buffet or family style? Wondering about 'Ohana breakfast, Tusker House breakfast, and Boma dinner.

Someone reported they were able to get the lapu lapu at 'ohana. I assume dinner.

This is our first trip using the DP in forever and the alcohol thing is so exciting, but of course I am pregnant this trip! I am assuming I can still order a beverage (I am well over age) and share it with another adult at the table? I’m only drinking water right now, so I won’t be giving up anything.

The only way that would work is if you don't tell your server what you plan. The alcoholic beverage is intended for the ordering customer. If you ask they will say no

Thanks! I was planning to just order whatever wine my mom orders and let her drink from both glasses! She won’t get her extra wine at 50’s Prime Time though because that milk shake will be mine!

My family of 4 (all Disney adults) is traveling to the World in August with my BIL on his own reservation. We are divided on which dining plan to get. We are toying with the idea of him getting the Deluxe Dining Plan, which will be enough credits for all of us to have 8 TS meals. My family would then have the QS plan which would be more than enough to cover any QS for all 5 of us. Does anyone see any issues with this? And I'm assuming that we would get an appetizer with each TS meal from his Deluxe Dining plan credits.

You should be fine. Yes you'll each get an app, entrée, dessert, and drink with each TS credit, so you may even be able to share some and do even more TS meals. All adults 21 and over will also get an alcoholic drink with each TS and QS, if you choose.

Perfect! The guys didn't believe me haha We had the DDP our first trip and found it took up a lot of time getting to and from dining reservations so 8 TS meals spread over 14 nights will work nicely I think. This seems like a happy medium! Thank you!

And also to add to this- regarding the DxDP- if it's two adults and two kids- you still have to buy a dining plan for everyone in the room. So if it's 5 nights- youre getting 60 TS credits. Almost impossible to abuse this by paying for the kids OOP. Even if both adults ate at a Signature for every lunch and dinner- That's still only 40 credits with 20 to spare. OH ya- and you're still paying nearly $300 a day for the plan. So Disney is more than fine with you trying to "pull one over" on them here. :)

It's one of those "nice to think about" things- but in reality it's so much food it's beyond stupid. The only way you usually come out ahead is if you're on a split stay and only in one room for a couple nights- or if you're traveling with another party that has it's own room and you can share meals.

One of my daughter's is on the adult dining plan this year. We are using the regular plan. We are eating dinner at California Grill. My plan is to pay for her meal (she would order off of the kid's menu) and use some of her credits for my meal and my husband's meal. We would actually pay for both of our daughter's meals this night (doesn't make sense to use 2 kid TS credits here). We would then use those two kid TS credits at another meal to pay for both girls' meals (both ordering off the kid's menu of course). This will work, correct?
