Has anyone had success when requesting a king bed?
It doesn't seem like there are too many king rooms, but since
its just the two of us I would like to try and get one.

We are renting DVC points from friends. Can I put in a room request through Touring Plans or do our friends need to do that for us through Member Services? TIA!

Coming back to the Poly for an extended weekend over Memorial Day, then again as part of a split stay in November 2018. First time staying Garden View Club Level (prior trip was CL TPV). Do all the Garden Views face the Oasis pool in some regard? I've not paid much attention when leaving the Hawaii building to see what the other side looked like and now that we're booked, I'm curious. TIA!

I think all GVs face the Oasis pool, but I'm not 100% sure. Hopefully others will be able to verify that or correct me if I'm wrong :flower3:.

We just returned from our first stay at the Poly from 2/20-2/28, previously we've stayed at POR, BC, and CSR, and it was amazing! We booked a Pool/Marina view and used TP to request a 3rd Floor Samoa building room. We arrived around noon and got a text that our room was ready, we were given a ground level Samoa room. We've had bad experiences with ground floor rooms (lots of jumping/stomping feet) and really had our hearts set on a 3rd floor so we went to the desk and asked if there was any chance we could move. Luckily they had one available but it wasn't clean yet so we decided to wait it out. It ended up being a "deep clean" room (something they must do occasionally) and we didn't get in our room until almost 4PM but we asked for it so no complaints there. We ended up in 3603 Samoa with a Lava Pool view and it was gorgeous!

Not sure this is true or has been mentioned before but the CM that checked us in told us that they added the Pool/Marina view category because too many people were getting upset when they would request Samoa and not get it. In her words people would get "crazy upset".

Anyway, Samoa was an awesome building and steps away from the pools, beach, and GCH. Staying at POR and CSR which are more sprawling from the main buildings this was a nice perk.

We loved having the access to the monorail and boat to MK although we never could figure out which one was faster...watching the fireworks and electric water pageant from the Poly beach was awesome. Trader Sam's was so fun! We didn't realize how busy in got in there! Food was great, mousekeeping was great, and every CM we met was friendly and we were always greeted with an "Aloha". It's going to be hard to ever stay anywhere else!

Thanks for your review. Glad you had a great time and enjoyed the Poly! We love Samoa as well for all the reasons you stated :).

I have absolutely nothing to add except that my soon to be husband and I booked the Poly for our very short Disneymoon in October. We've never stayed in the Poly and are beyond excited! Have a great day everyone! :flower1:

The Poly is amazing, you will love it! Congrats on your upcoming wedding. Hope you have a great honeymoon :wizard:.

Getting excited!!!! Our first stay at Polynesian starts next Wednesday. How many days out does the weather forecast become reliable? Seeing low 60s when we arrive :sad2:

I got one when I requested it 2 years ago. I was in Fiji, third floor facing the beach and on the Grand Floridian Side. There are quite a few rooms with king beds and more people travel with kids so these rooms are more readily available, or that is what I was told when I checked in.

Cool, we are checking in on Wednesday too! Oh man, I hadn't checked the weather. That really sucks. I hope it warms up a bit.

Just got back from the Poly for our first stay as a family of 5. Have stayed at the GF in the past, but i think we've officially converted to poly people. Loved it! Had a third floor tp view room in tuvalu. fantastic! had a great view of the castle, fireworks, and the electrical water pageant. both pools were amazing. the splash pad was down while we were there though. breakfast at ohana was great. and we especially like the fact that you can order an alcoholic drink and take it to go at breakfast there using the ddp. just ask your server and they'll bring you the breakfast cocktails menu. side note, you can get the lapu lapu on the ddp if you order it as the lapu lapu refill.

getting ready for a quick spring break trip to the cabins at fw for the first time, but can't wait to be back at the Poly in December for Christmas. Here's the view from our room in Tuvalu.

Anyone have any advice as to which mode of transportation is best from the Poly to MK for some Early Morning Magic?

Having done EMM a few times from the Poly, I agree with @tnolan. Keep an eye on the Times Guide for the week you are there just to make sure you have the latest monorail hours, but generally speaking they have been 7AM lately - which is perfect for getting over to EMM.

Here’s a helpful link to the Times Guide: http://www.orlandoparksnews.com/p/weekly-walt-disney-world-times-guides.html

Note the Times Guide changes weekly and monorail hours can change, see keep an eye out.

Have fun!

Hi all - my group is staying at the Poly in August in 2 standard rooms. It looks like the room categories have changed since the last time we stayed at the Poly in 2015. Any idea which longhouses have the standard rooms under the new categories?

I think Niue and Rarotonga are considered standard, and maybe some of Fiji, but I'm not positive. Hopefully others will be able to give more input :flower3:.

Switched our AKL 7 night to a split stay with the first 4 back at Poly. Any changes in the past two years worth knowing about?

WOW what a great view!

I've searched as best as I can, but did we ever find out what the "standard" view rooms are now being called? I only see "garden" view on TP room finder.
