oh ugh...I forgot about carryon space.... I REALLY hope the plane isn;t full when we board since we travel carryon only.... At least my Mom can get on with her bag with elderly boarding..... (she doesn't think she needs it,I'm sending her on anyway) Does SWA allow a fam member to board with her to help her with her stuff?(she qualifies, but she looks young for her age) my DH totally wants to get on last every flight anyway....:rotfl:

Preboard gets one companion to assist.

Edit: Sorry, somehow hit the post button.

If you preboard you can't sit in the Exit row.

Anyone know when swa March schedule will be posted?

Based on what Southwest has done in the past - If you are looking for early March, then possibly late June/early July - later than the first week of March, possibly sometime in August.

Nobody knows for sure. The next flight release is May 31 for flights to early January. Shortly after that they should give some indication of when the next release will be.

We always do carry on too. I don't mind checking a bag on the way back (well only with SW since it's free), I just make sure it's clothing, etc, not breakables or irreplaceable items. But I do worry about my stuff not making it to my vacation destination! I don't mind gate checking my bag though, because almost every time it was on the jetway by the time I got off the plane, waiting for me. Only once or twice did it go to the luggage carousel. But like @SouthFayetteFan they don't seem to run out on SW... I can't remember the last time they gate checked anything other than strollers, even though several of our last few flights have been 90+% full.

Having luggage lost is the worst. When I was in high school, we took a 3 week trip to Greece, Egypt, Israel and Jordan. Our BA flight got cancelled and we ended up taking an Air India flight instead (worst flight ever). We missed our connection in Heathrow to Athens. Had to fly Air France (best flight ever) to Paris, then Olympic Airlines to Athens. My luggage never made it during our entire trip. It was awful to try and find clothes on a Sunday in Greece. Almost everything was closed. I had better luck when we got to Cairo. There was a huge mall attached to our hotel via skywalk. I loved the trip but hated not having my stuff. It all arrived back at our home 2 weeks after we got home. It was missing for 5 weeks!

Oh no! I'm paranoid about it, even though I've never had anything lost. My wallet did get lost in the mail in college, that was... fun. I left it at my house when we made the drive to move me back to my college town for the school year, ~8hr drive. I realized halfway through and called my grandparents, and they took it to the post office that day... they wrote the address correctly on the box, but the employee who printed the package barcode/stamp put the wrong zip code... so it went to the opposite side of CO from me. It went to Grand Junction, and kept going out to a small town... was undeliverable... back to Grand Junction... back to the small town... I had the tracking number and watched it all online. I made visits to the main post office where I was, but they told me my only hope was when it got returned to sender, that someone would catch it in Denver and hand sort it. Thank goodness it did, or it would have been another week or so... but I ended up going without it for almost a month! No license, no student ID to charge my books to my account or ride the bus to campus, I started working my job at the university but didn't have identification, so I didn't get paid until my wallet showed up... the only cash I had was $40 my dad left me and the $100ish from our previous year's deposit, that my roommate had been waiting to give me in person.

Thanks couldn’t remember from this past year when they released the flights. Saw others had theirs released

The dates for our flights to WDW finally opened today on Delta. March 3 - 9 from DTW to MCO. They want 42k round-trip per ticket for just main cabin. So 126k for 3 tickets. I don't book award tickets often, but is this likely to go down at all or just continue to increase?

Also, those with more Delta knowledge, can you cancel award tickets? If the miles cost goes down? I know that I cancelled tickets about 2 years ago when we couldn't go on the cruise from Singapore with my parents. But I told them that I was pregnant (I was actually just trying to get pregnant at that point) and Singapore was on the list of Zika warning areas, so they didn't give me any trouble with the points and cash refund for those tickets.

Any advice from those more versed in airline miles redemptions would be much appreciated.

Definitely don't book right away on Delta. How many miles a flight takes is all over the map. Generally I have found that it is about the least amount of miles around 5 months out. There are the certain non stop direct flights to MCO that I watch all the time and basically they go from 20k to 65k when trip is really close. The easiest way to do it for me is to add the app to your phone and just check all the time. Mondays and Fridays are generally more. Check different days by a day or two too that can change prices quite a bit too.

I love Delta because it is non stop multiple flights as we are a hub. And perks like the yearly companion pass on the platinum card are worth it to me. BUT yes if it goes down unless you are within the 24 hour window you are stuck. If you cancel they will still charge you. I know it is $200 for change ticket fee and I think with miles flights it is somewhat similar. There are always exceptions...but it is not something they do as a matter of course.

Good luck!

I guess even with sw losing our luggage out of all the trips only twice have they lost it and I’ve gotten it back within a couple days. We still check all the luggage just Bc it’s easier and it’s free. If I had to pay to check luggage then we would just have to suck it up and do carry on. With a family of 5 it’s enough to keep everyone happy much less worry about luggage.

As for people that bring 3 bags as carry ons and aren’t the right size I wish they would make them check them. The last 4 flights have been full and delayed Bc of people trying to shove their carry on when it’s too big.

When I see people with 3 carry ons, I try to give them the benefit of the doubt that one of the bags is needed for medical reasons. My boss travels with her suitcase, backpack and her c-pap machine.

But people with oversized bags, I have no sympathy nor patience with them.

Trying to decide if I can use a one day car rental for $30...
Hahaha! I found myself in the same boat with those daily getway deal things but then I remembered I've had this feeling before... it was the dark days of when I first discovered slickdeals and found myself debating all sorts of things I didn't need at all because, well, good deal! I went cold turkey on the website for a while for my own good! I've browsed the daily getaways and might(?) go back when the Marriott stuff goes live but the rest of it was just tempting stuff that I know I don't really need right now.

I might get the Alamo ones, because they came in handy throughout the year, and you can call and apply them all to one rental if you want. But no Avis for me today, don't really need it.

Thank you so much! This worked. I will be sending SO random amounts of money. This is such as easy way to MS 6k between us every 6 months.

Right? Obviously can't go crazy, but it's multiple trips to WMs saved and from the couch :D

OI. I didn't realize what all this chatter about Daily Getaways was until the $30 car rental caught my eye...now it looks like one more e-mail everyday to tempt me to spend money :faint::faint:

Now I want the SeaWorld tickets...lol

First statement closed on DH's SPG biz yesterday, and now today I can use the new version showing how many starpoints were earned per transaction... the last things to show starpoints earned is from 4/8, the last few days don't have anything yet. And neither does my tax payment from 4/1. April Fool's Day joke? Fingers crossed. Statement hasn't generated yet online and YTD starpoints on account page hasn't updated yet.

So is it due to Friday the 13th or are just people out sick that this has not incremented 10+ pages since last night? I didn't have time to check earlier and thought it'd be way more than the 1 page it was!

Might be the weather... We're 70's and tornado threats this afternoon/evening, Blizzard tomorrow! I am so done with snow...

Since I have started manufacture spending my grocery bill has gone down from over $100 a week to under $70. Since I have to go to multiple stores to get giftcards and money orders I look at the circulars and get my groceries from the store that is the cheapest that week. I really can’t believe how much money I’m saving.

LOL, I have nothing useful. I am still waiting for Plastiq to figure out why I can't pay my property taxes with me AMEX, and beginning to try to think of Plan B to meet the MSR if they can't fix it!
We have a winter storm warning too, rain today turning to ice and a whole bunch of snow tomorrow. Yuck!!!! I need to move!

I never noticed SW gift cards at Sams til today. That could be because I never pay money for SW flights :rolleyes1. I was thinking since I need a bazillion URs for hotels stays now to get 2 rooms, and a bazillion more for 5 flights (6th on CP), I could buy discounted SW cards to save on flights if I have to pay cash...plus I am earning more points on said cash flights, so that is technically future savings. Just something to keep in my back pocket.

$500 GC is $485.98...approx 2.8% off. Use Walmart gift card bought with chase pay/freedom bonus...5% discount. So almost 8% off and earn points on the flight too.
