Thinking of referring DH for his own SPG biz. We could really use the extra SPG points from the referral to top off my account for Swan stay this fall and he's 5/24 right now so at least this card wouldn't count against him later. You can transfer SPG between family members at the same address, right? Is this free or is there a fee to do so?

You can transfer and it's free - for now. Marriott points don't transfer for free, who knows what will happen after the official merger.

Thanks. Guess I should go ahead with doing his application then. I'd actually prefer the Marriott biz with only $3K MSR instead of $5K, but I don't want to burn a biz slot with Chase for him since he doesn't have any Chase biz cards yet.

:worried:Yikes. I’m just getting started and there’s so much bad news lately. DH got CIP in March and we hit MSR already, faster than I expected, due to unplanned expenses. Now I feel like we need a new card asap. He is 1/24 (discover 3/17). I am 0/24. I want to get CIP on his referral. We also want Ink Cash, Csr/csp,and SW CP if still possible for 2019/2020. Plus I was thinking to get SPG biz but now I don’t know if that’s smart or dumb. Anybody have advice as to what order and what timing? Is it true we each can only get 2 Chase biz cards? The CIC bonus looks like a good deal. I’m worried about something happening to the CIP bonus or referral, in light of all the bad news every day.

I know how it goes meeting MSR too quick! Good but also bad! I think it makes sense for your DH to refer you to CIP now. Then have him get CIC while the 50k is still around. I have heard only 2 business cards usually with chase but there can be exceptions. It might make sense to get the csr/csp sooner rather than later; just because of all the bad news. Not sure how that would impact southwest cards plan though.

I don’t know about spg biz other than it seems like a waste to get it now with a lesser bonus. But it also could be disappearing. Are spg points important to you?

You could apply for the CIC now. Then have DH double dip CSR and CSP. That would give you some spend to work on. I would wait a few months in between cards with chase to help avoid a shutdown. I had two months inbetween applying for CIP and double dip. I haven’t seen any dp for when the cic bonus will change. As for how many chase bus cards 2 seems safe. Some have gotten 3.

Also we have a Reddit group you can join. Message @SouthFayetteFan or @Albort your reddit name

If you want more points in the mean time have you checked out plastiq?

If the Ink Cash really benefits you, I would get that now. This is what I would do.

You: Ink Cash 4/18 53K UR
DH: double dip CSP/CSR 6/18 108k UR
You: CIP 10/18 105k UR - including referral
DH: 1/19 close DH’s CIP, get SW Biz & SW personal - if that’s still an option at that point.

If you want the SPG Biz, and can do the $8k spend, your DH can apply for it and you can apply for the CIC now.

I just got my SO the CIP and I wanted to get him the CIC but I think we are going to wait because of this new southwest news. Chase doesn’t have a rule that you can only have two buisness cards. Some people have more but it’s harder to get approved. I don’t want to risk the Southwest companion pass for 19/20 so we are passing on the CIC.

Having you DH refer you to the CIP is a good idea, but that has been around for awhile and likely isn’t going anywhere. If you want SPG points you should jump on it now because it probably is going away. Some people are using a 5/24 spot for the SPG personal.

I'm attempting to catch up, about halfway now...

I just wanted to add, that I haven't had a problem using up the last random dollars and cents on VGCs in years. I remember at one time you had to know the exact balance and run the GCs for that, but now it seems every system can figure it out itself. I usually use mine at the grocery store.

Oh man, I thought Safeway bought Albertson's because the Albertson's by me became a Safeway :)

@imbatman @brownhaired_girl
I had no issues making a payment to Toyota with a Chase card. AMEX wouldn't let me as-is, and I never bothered to try a work around.

I was so proud the other night, we were lined up for the World of Color Dessert Party and I had set my alarm to check in... I got A34 and A41 for us! I can't remember the last time I boarded in A, minus our last trip where we paid the $40 upgrade at the gate :crazy2: Then when it came time to board last night, they told us there were only 68 passengers on our 144 seat plane.
well if it makes you feel any better, I checked in 24 hours EXACTLY (like when the numbers changed on the phone) and we all got c passes....like c26 and up! my DH always laughs at me and my 'boarding pass roullette' game since none of us really care about seating overmuch lol...... that's why I always buy EBCI for my return flights in Orlando,I'd never get on the plane if I had to remember that checkin!:rotfl2:

I mean, I never want to get on the plane anyways... Our flight before this one, I completely spaced checking in until we were on our way to the airport. Oops... we ended up paying the dumb $40pp to upgrade to A1-A15. DH gets much more anxious about sitting together than I do, I think because he hasn't flown alone much - I did lots in college and can easily entertain myself with a book. That flight was full too and he was stressing over his bags getting gate checked because we were C30ish or something, so it was easier not to fight the extra $80. Helps that the flights were free to begin with!

The dates for our flights to WDW finally opened today on Delta. March 3 - 9 from DTW to MCO. They want 42k round-trip per ticket for just main cabin. So 126k for 3 tickets. I don't book award tickets often, but is this likely to go down at all or just continue to increase?

Also, those with more Delta knowledge, can you cancel award tickets? If the miles cost goes down? I know that I cancelled tickets about 2 years ago when we couldn't go on the cruise from Singapore with my parents. But I told them that I was pregnant (I was actually just trying to get pregnant at that point) and Singapore was on the list of Zika warning areas, so they didn't give me any trouble with the points and cash refund for those tickets.

Any advice from those more versed in airline miles redemptions would be much appreciated.

oh ugh...I forgot about carryon space.... I REALLY hope the plane isn;t full when we board since we travel carryon only.... At least my Mom can get on with her bag with elderly boarding..... (she doesn't think she needs it,I'm sending her on anyway) Does SWA allow a fam member to board with her to help her with her stuff?(she qualifies, but she looks young for her age) my DH totally wants to get on last every flight anyway....:rotfl:

b/c it's one my (few) swa peeves that they allow people to drag HUGE suitcases onboard and fill up the overhead bins...... (mine are under the size limit)

I've found Southwest to actually be the best airline when it comes to overhead bins and carryons. They rarely run out of space due to no baggage fees. The "oversized" carryon is a problem on all airlines, it's just the other carriers have to really put their foot down because they're going to end up checking 10% of bags anyways because every person on the flight is trying to avoid the fees.

They do allow one person to board with someone who is preboarding.
