Anti theft device on pants that I paid for

I had no clean pair of pants today. So I got out a pair of pants I paid for about a month ago and it had the anti theft device on it. So I get out the other pair I got two that day and that one has the anti theft device on it also. I still have the receipt but that doesn’t prove anything just says I bought two pair of pants. I looked up how to remove it on google. Anyone have any success doing it? 40 dollars for the pants for one of them. 80 dollars. Got them at boscovs

Bring back to store with receipt, they will take it off.

I guess I will bring them back I still have the receipt. First time I got them out of the bag since I got it on March 18. Found a old pair of pants to wear for now.

Macy’s left one on a t-shirt I bought and I simply brought it back the next day (with receipt in hand) and they removed it, I’d try that. Maybe take a picture of the pants in front of your house to prove you’ve been outside the store with them lol

Very good idea with the picture.

isn't that thing supposed to make the alarm go off as you leave?
Yes, and it sometimes doesn't work.

Take it back to the store. That is their fault, and no way would I risk damaging my new pants because of their mistake. I had this happen to a pair of slippers once & had to look through the garbage to find the receipt. Took them back with receipt & they fixed it, looking rightfully sheepish. It's really poor customer service on the store's part for them to let this happen at all, because if you lose your receipt, you're SOL. It shouldn't be the customer's job to prevent this problem.

I would walk directly to the counter and not shop first, but when I worked in clothing retail we would have removed the sensor and apologized if you had receipt for proof of purchase.

Happened to me with kohls. I tried some of the tricks from YouTube and no luck. No problem when we took it back to the store. I didn't have the receipt but could look up the purchase on my credit card account.

This happened to me once. I couldn’t find the right size in the store, so they ordered the size I needed and shipped it to my house. When it arrived it had a security tag on it. I took it back to the store (grrrr. It was Xmas and the mall was packed) and they removed the sensor.

They should do it.

Years ago I bought a couple of pairs of classic Levi's 501 shrink to fit jeans. The clerk didn't take off the device on both pairs and I walked out no problem. Then I walked into another store with them and it set it off. They said it happened occasionally. Then I brought it back to take them off.

I wouldn't worry about the receipt. I don't know of many receipts these days that don't have some sort of inventory control, although I've bought cloths from old-school businesses that still hand-write receipts. That should be enough. Maybe even have someone hold onto them outside, go in, and explain it just in case.

That happened to me at Boscov's a few years ago. The bar code price tag was still attached to the item and I had the receipt. It was about two weeks after purchase. I went to customer service rather than the department cashier. No problem with them removing the device. I think they scanned my receipt.

Good grief, it was an accident. It will be a glorious day the day we figure out how to prevent accidents from happening.

I work retail. No it should never happen. Sometimes it does. But as a PSA if you are a customer and the security device by the door beeps when you go out, don't continue on your way. You would not believe how hard it is to get people to stop so you can check if you missed a security tag. I'd say about half ignore you and go on their merry way.

The alarm goes off and sometimes you get waved out also.

This has happened to me at JcPenny and Macy's. Very annoying and had to go back to have it removed. The best though was a baby outfit from Macy's I gave as a gift. The mom (husband's cousin) opened the gift and of course the security tag was on it. So embarrassing........We lived in two different cities and they insisted I leave it with them and would take care of it..........I hope they did.

Um, I wasn't recommending anyone sue over this, just stating that it's poor customer service, accident or not. If a waitress accidentally spills water in your lap, that's poor customer service even though it's an accident. Same here.

No alarm went off when I bought the slippers, btw. Sometimes those devices don't work.

I was referring to you saying that a store shouldn't let it happen. No store wants it to happen, it is purely accidental.
