Disney's Club Level (CL) Information & Questions

My stay was a few years ago. I know things change, so hopefully if I stay there again, I will like it better. Unfortunately, first impressions can be hard to overcome, so I’m not in any rush. I can say this, if I do go back, it will be in the winter so I don’t have to deal with that clown pool!

LOL about the clown pool! I agree, first impressions are hard to overcome, which makes it hard to go back to a resort where you didn't have the best experience. But like you said, things do change and I hope you get a chance to try BWI again and I hope your experience is better the next time around :).

I agree with you completely. The BWI CMs were always professional but most of all they were very helpful with anything we needed. Once our DD was nauseous and one of the CMs heard me ask my DH to go buy some ginger ale because we didn't see any in the lounge and the next thing we get a knock at the door with a few cans of ginger ale - that is service and that is why we love the CMs of the BWI CL. I know not all CMs are that way but we feel the most of the CMs at the BWI are that way.

That definitely is great service! I'm excited to try Poly CL in October, but I'm kind of nervous that it won't come close to BWI CL. I love the Poly and I know I'll probably like CL there, but I think BWI is going to be hard to beat.

I certainly will. I also just switched around our hotels (doing 3 split stays) and added WL CL 8/1 - 8-4 and then Poly(non CL) 8/4-8-7. Was origionally doing BWI CL, Poly(non CL), and BC(non CL).

Hope you have a great trip! :wizard:

I'm by no means a club level expert, but I would book what you can now and check daily to see if you can modify it. Rooms may open up, but you don't want to be stuck with nothing at the resort you want to stay at, right? October is a very popular month at Disney.

I agree! :thumbsup2

We're booked in a CL Garden View room at Yacht Club - do upgrades to water view rooms ever happen? If there's availability, can we pay for the upgrade at checkin? Have 2 GV rooms booked and would love for my parents to end up with a water view (their first time at Disney in over a decade)

Complimentary upgrades do happen, but it's usually for maintenance reasons, overbooking, etc. Paying for an upgrade is possible, pending availability. Have a great trip :).

It’s funny to me how the same experience can be interpreted 2 different ways, I think that’s a lot of what we see (admittedly the CM’s just talking to each other is never acceptable if they aren’t keep an eagle out for guests who need help). OFF TOPIC: I’m reminded of a night where my Bestie and I went to Trader Sam’s at Poly. OMG I HATED IT. The CMs were so cold, nothing like CA. Everyone was just cold, including the guests. I literally saw a couple come in who looked angry, they sat down and our waitress (who also seemed angry) went over and they said “oh hey. I remember you from last night. We had so much fun we had to come back.” And the waitress was like “yes, I remember you 2, so much fun.” Except from my POV it was a bunch of angry people saying nice things. I was so confused (and I was on drink #1)! Thankfully my Bestie spoke East Coast having moved to Philly and interpreted for me that everyone over there was indeed having a great time. She explained I’m just Californian and it doesn’t translate because fun to me = “OMG! Hey!” + big fat smiles. Exact same thing witnessed- 2 TOTALLY different impressions :)

I agree! And depending on the interpretation, it can make or break an experience.

How often does availability for club level rooms change? We had to change original December Poly plans and now want to find something for late October.

Ideal for us would be Wilderness Lodge standard club room or Beach/Yacht standard club room (as of now there is no club availability at WL and only water view rooms at Beach/Yacht).

Is my best bet to check online every few days? Or should I book whatever is available now?

Thanks in advance Club Level experts :-)
I would find a Disney specific TA and ask them to check for you. I am surprised no one suggests this. I have seen zero availability for certain rooms and my TA has been able to get me a room.

Can anyone tell me when the magic kingdom opens at 7am the week between Christmas and new year does the Polynesian club lounge open at 6am to allow guests to have breakfast before going to the park?

If we do online checkin, will our magic bands allow us to bypass the front desk and "unlock" the CL floor in the elevator? Or do we have to stop at the front desk to be escorted up?

Sometimes yes, sometimes no; we've had it go both ways. For whatever reason, even though you do online check in and you get your room text on arrival day, sometimes your magic bands still don't work and need to be programmed at the front desk.

A lot of times you need to open the door to your room in order to access the CL level so it will mean going to desk first. You can always try

Thank you so much for all the replies- I went ahead and booked garden view at Poly (second cheapest option of all club rooms available).

Even though the lounge in the Hawaii building looks absolutely amazing, we would prefer to spend a little less. In the meantime I will keep checking for other room options and cross my fingers for AP discounts!

Has anyone used DSS to book their FPs for the new Toy Story rides, or for Pandora when it opened?

The FP booking date for our October trip is one where getting online at 7am is fairly inconvenient, and I was toying with the idea of having DSS book for me. It’s just a short weekend trip, though, and DSS says they book on that date between 9am-5pm. We were hoping to get a FP for SDD, but I’m worried about their timing.

Will everything be gone by the time they book? Or will it be gone anyway, since we’d be looking at 60+2 rather than for a longer trip?

Thoughts?

Hey @KJGA100, keep checking but October is now one of the busiest months of the year. CL Inventory does not really change but often guests make adjustments as they get closer to their vacation. As always, check at your 60 day window and again at the 30 day window when packages must be paid.

Calling may be a pain but it provides in almost 100% of the cases a better list of available options vs online search results.

Regarding Contact from DSS

Arrival Date @ Poly is 7/31

  • I was contacted by DSS the day after I upgraded (back in May)
  • Called several times with questions and very friendly. They didn't even confirm I was CL to provide answers.
  • Sent spreadsheet with FP$+ and was effortless
  • I received an email today indicating that EPCOT illuminations had changed location (which of course, you guys broke here first).

The only item left to email DSS is for a Balcony room but otherwise, I suppose it appears I've had sufficient contact.

They are 2 hours behind when they start booking at 9:00. That can totally shut you out of both SDD and FoP if your trip is short or if your days must be early on your trip. No way would I wait till 9:00

What about if they do it at 90 days? do I need to worry about it if they're going to do both club and reg fast passes at 90 days?

If you're paying the 50$ for the CLFP, then it should be fine. I just made mine last week with no issue but I did it right at 90 days out. If you get too close to the 60 day mark, they said you start to risk regular guests taking the spaces.

Does anyone have any insight about why there isn’t any availability for club level rooms at AKL in May/June 2019. We stay every year and typically do not book our stay until August. I’m looking now and all that is available is non club level rooms or club level suites.

If you are talking about the ones you pay for then it's no problem. That's 30 days before anyone else can book (other than the very limited CL guests doing it) PP didn't mention they were the ones you pay for. Since they mentioned it was inconvenient to get up and do it, I just assumed it was the normal 60 day FP
