Still driving home! Would you make fun of me if I told you I downloaded some of the Hawaiian songs I liked at the Poly to my Spotify acct. and I’m listening to them now.... :teeth::cloud9:
Only if you're listening to the Christmas songs. :crazy2:

After swearing I was a one and done at the Poly following an October trip with my mom, I have booked NYE week there with DH and the kids. My October trip was fine, but left me feeling "eh" about what had been my dream resort. I guess deep down I really did want to give it another shot because I'm over-the-moon excited to go back! I think it's b/c the whole family will be with me and they love the Polynesian so much.

The kids being old enough for DH and I to head out for an evening on our own sure doesn't hurt either! Trader Sam's here we come pixiedust:Now I just have to get through the next 174 days.

I’ve stayed at Poly more than any other resort in our Disney travels, I love many things about staying there. But I’ve had a couple of “eh” trips there as well - it can happen. One time I left saying “never again” (which turned out to be a lie to myself, of course).

We were there NYE last year and had a blast. The locational advantages of a place like Poly on special days like 12/30 and 12/31 can really come in handy.

Happy planning!

In my opinion, the Christmas soundtrack at Poly is horrible. We were there around NYE this past year and it was still going strong. There was a speaker not far from my balcony.... it drove me seriously batty. The songs do repeat quite often. :-)
Speaking of speakers, the one near our room was up way too loud. The sound was distorted. Sounded like the speaker had busted

Did you happen to catch HEA from your room at any point? While I have griped about Poly fireworks volume being too low in the past... at the moment it's crazy loud in front of the Hawaii building. Definitely towards the too loud/speaker distortion scale during parts of the show! :mic:

Although at the end of the day I'll take too loud over not loud enough when it comes to the fireworks.

Yes. And there was a speaker right outside our door. They have it up too loud for sure.

They really need to put in 4, 5 more speakers instead of cranking the ones they have to 11

Location is definitely part of the reason we picked it! Last NYE we were at Kidani, which was great b/c AKL is amazing, but for such a busy time it's just not convenient.
At this point we're not planning to go to a park in the evening on 12/31, but if we change our minds, at least we're not stuck with buses as our only option (it took over two hours to get to Epcot from AKL last year - never again on the road at that time of day!!)

Good to know someone who loves the Polynesian has had a "never again" moment! I think this visit will be the true test of how I really feel about it. I'm a Wilderness Lodge person myself, but my kids are taller than I am, and I think even the bunk bed rooms there are out for us now, so we're in the "trying new resorts" phase of our Disney trips.

Does anyone dispute that room 3415 has the best view for a standard room?

I was looking for a King room, but I didn't see a view I liked.

I have A couple more questions:
Where can you see the fireworks at Magic Kingdom from the Polynesian resort if you don’t have a fireworks view room?
Which is the best longhouse to request if staying in a standard room?
Where does everyone watch the electrical water parade from the resort?

1) anywhere along the beach
2) you really can't go wrong here... Rarotonga, Niue and non-marine side of Figi are longhouses currently having standard view rooms.
3)along the beach

Enjoy!:mickeybar

If you mean 3415 in the Tuvalu longhouse, then it is an OK view. Note that it can be quite loud in this building with noise from the nightly sounds at Luau Cove.

Note: you should never select just a single room and just a caution that the next group of rooms on that floor / side of Tuvalu look across at the Fiji longhouse. So not a good view if you get near 3415 but not that exact room.
