We just came back from our 1st DVC vacation at our home resort BWV! We had a great time. We stayed in a 1 bedroom garden view room. The room was beautiful and spacious. BWV is so convenient. Our daughter LOVED the pool and slide at Luna pool! She must have went down it at least 10 times every time we were at the pool. She also met a couple of little girls to swim with. We enjoyed our walk over to Beach Club to go to cape May cafe for breakfast for our daughter's birthday. She also enjoyed wearing her nirthday pin in the parks and getting wished happy birthday by the CMs. Can't wait to go back in April! Looking forward to many enjoyable years at Disney!

Awesome!!! So glad you had a wonderful time!

Have you already switched to the more relaxed DVC attitude: "I don't have to rush to squeeze everything in a day, I'll be back soon"?
That's one of the things I appreciate of my DVC. I used to do 14 days commando style and come back home needing a vacation. Now I come back happy and relaxed :)

Yes absolutely! This time we did 3 park days. We did a lot of pool and just checking things out because we are going back in April. I love that we can just have a more laid back vacation and not have to feel like you have to do it all because you are there and not know when you might get back there. We already knew April is on the horizon so yes we've definitely adopted that attitude!pooh:

Welcome home and great to hear that your first trip was so wonderful. Of all of the DVC resorts, I like the 1 bedroom at BW best. It feels really spacious and even with the standard view, we have still had some good views. Everything is so convenient, especially with access to BC and Epcot, so close by. You will likely find you travel more then before with the accommodations essentially paid for and being able to go less days, since you don't have that squeezing everything in mindset. Enjoy your membership!

So happy to hear that you enjoyed your first DVC trip! And that you've slipped easily into the laid-back mode that DVC ownership allows, knowing you will be back so often. BWV is one of our homes, and if you own there and can plan 11 months out you may want to take advantage of the Standard View rooms which are a great low point option for such a well-situated resort.

In any event, you are off to a great start with your DVC ownership. Here's wishing you all the best for future trips. :)

Thanks for the nice post! We already love it there after one visit! We are glad that's the home resort we chose!

We just experienced BWV for the first time as well on our SSR points. Loved the resort so much I put an offer on a resale contract before we were even back. There is so much to do at the resort, can't wait to go back and experience Jelly Rolls. My only gripe, and i'm curious if i'm the only one to have it, was with the bus transportation.
1) I hated having to share buses with Swan and dolphin for DS and AK. Just makes the trip that much longer.
2) bus service for boardwalk was very bad last week. We took YC/BC bus many times, as the boardwalk bus just want showing up.
I saw a few people opt for minnie van service a few times out of frustration, me included.
Other than that, the resort was great.

We were there last week of June and we shared with swan/dolphin for DHS since friendship boats were still down. Other than that, when we went to MK that bus was fine not too full.

We also just got back from our 1BR (pool view) stay at BWV! It was also our first stay there as DVC members (we own there now but this trip was booked on our SSR points). We were surprised to be able to see the higher fireworks at Epcot and MK on our last night from our balcony (I think they may have both been delayed due to weather). DS is 2 and enjoyed the little wading pool and playground area with slides. We walked to DHS for the TSL opening and I think it only took 10-12 minutes, even with me being pregnant and pushing a stroller. The location and convenience factor is just huge. We also love The Fountain at the Dolphin as a walk-in alternative to Beaches & Cream, and Ample Hills is so good. We had pretty good luck with bus and boat service for the most part, except for one time where we had to wait ~45 minutes for an AK bus.

We loved our stay and glad you did too! BWV is a great home resort to have :-)

So happy to hear! We have our 1st family DVC trip to our home resort BWV in December and I cannot wait.

We only have a small contract, but we are stretching it sooooo far thanks to those standard rooms! 50 points for Sunday - Friday and walkable to Epcot and DHS....insane value!!! We will also have APs for the first time ever thanks to the $300ish discount on Premium passes they had last year and plan on taking full advantage of park hopping and frequent dining at Epcot during the holidays!

DD16 and I attended a Moonlight Magic at MK in February (which was awesome) but stayed at SSR (and liked it waaaay better than I anticipated).

I seriously feel like we will have gotten our initial purchase worth of "value" in the first year and a 1/2 of use out of this contract. Not quite, but close!

We will of course then be borrowed out and figuring out our first add-on! lol BWV will be our "retirement" contract so we do not care about the 2042 expiration at all and will have the flexibility to always take advantage of the standard rooms. Any additional contract will be for treating our kids and their future family. Our kids are already nearly grown and still love the mouse, so I'm pretty sure they will be in it for the long-haul with us so we will consider something with a later expiration for their future benefit.

Congrats on your first official stay!

We own at BLT since 2010 and have yet not had the opportunity stay at BWV but it’s on our list for future visits. Love the location.

Enjoy your DVC ownership, don’t forget about HHI and VB. Both are fantastic resorts. We have been to VB twice and we are heading to HHI for a 2nd visit next month. And then off to WDW for our first stay at VGF.

We have done a couple of resort only stays, no parks, and then we head to VB for 3-4 night or a short DCL cruise.

DVC is such a great way to vacation. Enjoy making memories!

At busier times they don't share buses.

We too used our OKW points for the first time at BWV, back in Sept 2006. And we now also own points at BWV. We love it.

Welcome Home, OP!! Glad your DD had a nice birthday trip.

Nice to hear you had a great time! What was your decision process like for BWV? Was that the only resort you considered? (We are currently deciding between BWV and BLT)

We had originally considered SSR and then we had an OKW get taken in ROFR in March on day 30 and then we decided to put an offer in for the BWV contract. We are so glad we did that and that the BWV contract passed ROFR instead. We love it there! We are however staying in a 1 bedroom Theme park view room at BLT in January so were excited to try that one out too!

We were originally considering SSR as well with the intention to take our chances on booking elsewhere at 7 months, but who knows if that will even be possible in a few years with how much demand has risen.
