Has anyone been to The Club at PHX? Looks like it is Terminal 4 which I hope is where our SW will be leaving out of but wondering if it is worth making time for.

I was there for about 5 hours in June. It's pretty nice, very nice and friendly bartender and quite a selection of food. Has 2 rooms, one with windows to the runaway, the other more secluded. We were there early in the morning and by the time we left around noon, they were limiting access due to capacity. Depending on how much time you have, I think its worth it.

I postedthis on the disney GC thread, but it got lost in the SB conversation shuffle...

Does anyone know if the 20%off amazon promo with Amex rewards is a one time use (as in I should spend $500 at once) or is it cumulative over multiple orders up to $500? I need sunscreen and don't want to waste the promo and miss $95 in savings to save $5 on this !@#$ expensive sunscreen (I have a sensitive skinned redhead and sunscreen is $25/bottle!)

THANKS!
I hesitated to answer because I’d seen DPs suggesting it was cumulative but I’m not convinced enough to suggest someone risk $100 on those DPs. Personally I would not be willing to risk it but if you read through comments on DoC on the deal and on the Reddit thread you’ll see a couple DPs on this to analyze for yourself :) My main problem is Amazon “refreshed” the promo so was it cumulative or did those people get a 2nd go at the promotion due to the refresh?

ETA: omg $25/bottle?! Ouch! But I have cousins with skin like your so I get it, $25/bottle is definitely worth it but that doesn’t help the pocketbook pain.

I have some questions for anyone willing to answer. My first question is how do we transfer UR over to my new CIP from DH's CIP account?

We don't think we will get the $5,000 MSR bonus until our October statement. Is there going to be any saver flights left through United if we want to fly in May? Right now I'm seeing some really good ones, but I have a feeling they might all be gone by October. Does anyone have experience with this?

Thanks. Yeah, I'm leaning towards holding off until I can do the full $500. Or at least $60 - both DH and I qualified for the $30 off $60 too.

As for the sunscreen, at least $25 is the big bottle...

That I do know! $30 off $60 first! Otherwise it tries to take $30 off your $500.

ETA: hmmm.... a couple bottles of sunscreen and a Starbucks gift card (or anything else really, such an extensive gift card selection they have) and boom! $60 for $30 ;)

Idk about United (but since you don’t have the miles available right now there’s really nothing you can do anyway so I suggest having a backup plan in place in case they aren’t available anymore) but you should be able to add DH’s CIP by going to your UR account, click combine points on the right of the drop down menu (click the arrow next to your points amount to get there) and click add household member/company owner card. If the tech refuses to recognize the card you have 2 options. Transfer to another Chase card that is linked to your CIP or contact Chase and request they transfer the points.

I haven't made the account for my CIP card, but I will try what you said after I get it set up. Thanks!

I thought GC were excluded? We need some for Disney, but other than getting a Visa GC, I don't think any they sell can be converted. DH would be happy with Starbucks though!

So I've been super quiet for awhile, figured I owe all my peeps here an update post!
  • We fully recovered from our basement water catastrophe. Many people in the south hills of Pittsburgh had it much worse than us but it was super frustrating to have an inch of water in our basement 2 days before leaving for Myrtle Beach.
  • Myrtle Beach was awesome, the drive was not as bad as I remember it. We stayed in North Myrtle and had a great time.
  • I've been slightly busy at work last week and this week (catching up from one vaca and getting ready to leave for another)
  • Saturday we board a flight for Captiva in Florida and it's gonna be awesome! We plan to do a nice bike ride every morning then hit the beach and relax!
  • I REALLY hope this flight goes well for my wife who is super nervous about flying. A bad flight here could spell doom for my continuing travel plans...PLUS we have 500k SW RRs...I gotta use them somewhere!!
  • We have basically hit our MSR on my wife's CIP. That will bring us up to 320k URs which will cover us for our Disney trip in Jan. Just need to get our CSR in Aug (planning a double dip) to max out that 1.50x redemption.
  • We have very little expenses expected in the next month so we'll be using the $500 MCGC we picked up at Walgreen's to tide us over until mid August.
  • I'd guess once we're back things will calm down slightly and I'll be more involved again. I'm so happy for all the folks who have scored approvals! I've read every post here even though I haven't responded as much :)
Lastly - I think my little hiatus from "churning obsession" will be good for me. If the hobby ever starts to stop being fun I recommend you just take a breath and step away slightly for a month or so. I'm still reading a lot but just less active in commenting and that has been refreshing. I want this to be a fun hobby and I think it can be again once my little break is over.

My opinion is the only thing that makes sense is to fly in and out of Lincoln. Why spend all the money to cut if it only cuts your drive in half and you have to be at the airport early and drive to the airport so by the time you cut your drive in half by flying to Lincoln you might as well have driven the entire way. In college I drove 12 hours home on a Friday and then back to school Monday, it sucked but I need to get stuff at home and it was too much to fly with. I wouldn't drive the 8 hours each way for 3 days, I'd fly to Lincoln and spend more time at home.
Agreed. Especially once I figured out the close in booking date... I've done enough drive Friday night and back sundays! I'm going to keep an eye on this when my cousin has her baby too. I guess I do need united miles! Lol

Technically yes, and in reality Amazon gift cards are excluded most (but not all) of the time. The best way to see is to put it in your cart and start the checkout process. If you see the discount being taken off after you apply the 1 MR point then you're good to go, you don't need to complete the checkout process just do it up to the point where you say you want to pay with a point.

We used the deal to pay $400 for $500 worth of Whole Foods gift cards last week. I thought it was just Amazon gift cards that were excluded.

And I can share with you all a tour of my home airport! It has 8 whole gates! :rotfl2:

And hit up timberline, maybe even for breakfast!
Well dang, you win! Even my airport of Fresno has 12 gates. (All the more embarrassing when you still can't find yours. Fyi if y'all are ever unfortunate enough to find yourselves there they hide one of the gates on the second story, it's really quite impressive how they hide it tbh. You see all the others on the 2nd floor plane as day (yes, I see the pun and I'm leaving it because it's the internet and I can do that here ;) ). There isn't anything much more embarrassing than lapping a 12 gate airport, twice because it's only 12 gates after all and you have some dignity, and then having to ask a gate agent where your gate is...)

I just checked and our airport has 12 gates too lol. I thought for sure I would win but I guess not.

Haha! 8 gates but 2 terminals (4 in each) 2 baggage carousels, 4 ticket counters but only 2 in use since 2008, 1 gift shop, 1 little cafe/bar... outside the terminals. Terminals just have vending machines. Last time I flew out of there was 2012... but security didnt open until 45 mins before takeoff

No Starbucks?! I'm not even convinced this is a real airport you speak of...

Our local airport has 2 flights a day 0700 and 1245. Both Delta. Little planes that you have to walk up the steps and they will take you to MSP. I did this for our first Disney trip now I just drive to Minneapolis and fly out of there.

Thanks! Might have to give it a try before our flight back to the East Coast at the end of the month.
