Thanks for the post
We are a family of 4 considering the poly for our vacation next year
We'll be travelling with a 7yo and 5 yo
Is there a building/section that has a partial view of the castle and is quiet as well ?

We stayed in Rarotonga a couple of weeks ago with a standard view, monorail side with a lush garden/rain garden view, RM 1823. It honestly was perfect. No castle direct view, but you are just a few steps from the Great Ceremonial House and the pool, laundry is in the next building, right by the Oasis pool, bus stop is right out front, and on the closer side of the TTC. Our room was SUPER quiet with the patio door shut, and when open you can hear the tranquil music from the entrance. The kids liked the castle and fireworks from the beach/Lava pool anyway. ;)

Thanks for the room location review! I really appreciate it and I’m taking notes.

Last month was our first (and last) stay at AKL. We did not like our room location. Even with a touring plans room request, we had a room too far for our liking. I asked the front desk to NOT place us in “Georgia” she replied “no, your room is only in Tallahassee!” No joke! We’d leave in the mornings, and not return until evening. It was just too far.

My family is looking forward to a smaller resort next summer. We really like to be near the QS for morning coffee and mickey waffles.

I’m hoping for ground floor in Samoa, Rarotonga or Aotearoa.

Aloha everyone!! :wave2:

I've seen online that the Polynesian has some new resort logo merchandise. Have any of you seen this ceramic coffee mug at the resort lately? Have any of you purchased one of these? Do you still have the sticker on the bottom with the SKU #? Mahalo, in advance! :sunny:

There were none on Sunday, unless I just didn’t see them. I was looking for a Poly mug, and ended up getting a regular WDW mug instead.

We returned a few days ago from an amazing trip. I do have to say, it took a few days really fall in love with the Poly because we were so busy in the parks the first couple days. We love the CR and have stayed there the last few trips. Once we took some time to enjoy resort time, we totally fell in love with the Poly! We ended up at the Lava pool one night in the evening and got to watch HEA from the there, which was amazing and definitely one of my favorite memories from the trip. The parks weren’t too crowded, but it was nice to have a getaway just steps away from MK.
We’re going to be at the BC in January on our next trip, but I’m already trying to figure out how to sneak in at least another long weekend at the Poly before our AP’s expire.

So for those who have stayed on the DVC side of the Poly, I see there is a parking lot closer to those buildings. Is that parking lot for guests? With a toddler, we sometimes prefer to drive to the parks (not on the monorail) and this would make it so much easier.

If you are referencing the lot in front of Pago Pago--yes, it is guest parking.

Love this mug! I'll have to look for it when I'm there in Oct ;).

Glad you had a great time and enjoyed the Poly. Hope you are able to squeeze in a long weekend for a return trip to the Poly :wizard:.

Due to some medical issues that I was hoping would be resolved by our trip next month I am now heavily considering taking our ECV with us. Last time I had to take the ECV I was at Saratoga and my only disney transportation option was the bus. Now that we're staying at Poly I have a few more options for getting to MK. What would you suggest for MK days, monorail or boat? 2 of our MK days have PPO breakfast ADRs (if that matters for the boat) and the other 2 mornings are leasure mornings with no rush for entry except for a 9:15 FP.

Loving reading everyone's trip reports as mine gets closer!!

what didn’t you like about akl?

The resort layout.

Due to the Savanna’s, there are no shortcuts around the resort. We got stuck with a savanna view room so far away from everything. After walking 15 miles a day in the parks, I don’t want to walk 3 miles around my resort (per my iwatch).

It just wasn’t for us.

Yeah, not cool! Especially for the $$$$. I have no desire to stay there, now you just sold me even further.

We’ve been going to WDW annually for 19 years and have stayed in all the deluxe resorts except AKL.
So we HAD to try it. One and done for us.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s a beautiful resort. We just don’t like the layout.

I love that mug! I bought it in August. I don’t have the sticker on it wine I have used it a few times but I bought it downstairs.

Edited to add-I most likely still have the receipt. I will try to remember to look thru it tomorrow. I am avoiding going thru that pile.
