I love credit cards so much!

Yeah I don’t go much to sports games. I’d have loved to be a season ticket holder for the Knicks or Yankees but it’s just too expensive. Sometimes you can get last minute “deals” I’m scared of heights so I try to sit in the lower section for under $100. Also, look into College teams. Chicago has a few good division 1 schools and tickets aren’t normally expensive. I know the division 1 school I went to used to have specials like if you brought a toy for a holiday toy drive you got a “free” ticket.
Ironically, DH is not a sports fan, but DS is. He follows English Premier League soccer, NFL and NHL. We have loads of sports in Chicago, lots of choices, but he follows Packers, Bears, Blackhawks, all $$$. We do attend some of the soccer and hockey games which are cheaper. No football yet (as an Illinois alum, I was a season football ticket holder eons ago).

Sorry but I just have to say this,” Boo black hawks!!!!” Okay I’m done lol. Dh likes the black hawks and I hate them!

My 100k MRs from the Biz Plat posted today, two days after I made the qualifying charge (a Plastiq payment).

Those big Amex MSRs are no fun, and I had three of them ($5k Hilton Biz, $10k Biz Plat, and $5k SPG Lux) overlapping at some point, as well as the $3k MSR on the Marriott Premier Plus. We have my wife's CIU MSR to work on next, but we'll throw next month's expenses on it and that should take care of that. I'm thinking we'll try to have my wife apply for the Amex Gold again in November, and hopefully the pop up will be gone. I've been trying to rehabilitate her account by putting spend on her Amex cards. And maybe I'll try for the BBP.

Edited: Biz Plat MSR was $10k. :faint:
I am struggling with one $5k MSR on SPG Lux. I was hoping to finish up but the $1900 water heater wasn’t able to go on that card. Plumber doesn’t take Amex. I did put insurance charges on it but I’m still at only $3600.

@Lain that is lame on the Plastiq promo. I have some FFD that need to be used in November already. Maybe I will just use them now and not worry about using the promo on two different recurring payments.

Another Plastiq rep is saying different: "Fee Free Dollars (FFDs) expire 90 days from the time they are credited to an account, resetting the balance to zero. For this promotion, you're credited these earned FFDs on November 1. That means you would need to use them within 90 days from that date."

DS would like your DH. :thumbsup2
He tells me I’m a traitor because he likes Green Bay over Bears. My dad was a big Packers fan, so DS tells me “what would your father say? “ when I cheer for Bears. Lol. My dad was a Bears fan, until it came to Bears vs Packers. I grew up watching Bears and Blackhawks with my dad.

Do any of you guys follow this DIS thread: Post all SW questions concerns, etc. here...

I try to follow along there and help people...but it drives me crazy when people just come on that thread and complain about SW nonstop. They release flights too early, they release flights too late, prices are too high, the times don’t work for me, I’m waiting for the price to go down, crap the price went up - why are they so greedy, they used to be great - now they suck, I don’t like how they board but I’m too cheap to pay for EBCI...it just goes on and on sometimes.

I just want to grab these people and say “do you understand they are a business...and their sole purpose is not to cater to your insane demands”. They are welcome to select a different airline if they feel SW is so terrible. Sorry this is off topic but I just needed to rant for a minute.
There are complaints like that about every airline. Every one. I mean, yeah they are a business, they need to make money. But their customer service seems better than average from what I’ve seen. I had the worst service ever on United, on a 12 hour flight, on which I bought 3 Economy Plus seats. Included a seat for the 1 year old who could have been a lap baby. Missed meals, kicked by flight attendant, yelled at by flight attendant. I paid lots of $ for that flight. I’d take SW service over that any time

Don't envy the Bay Area's high cost of living... Meeting high MSRs is one of the few silver linings.

Truth :sad2:

I'm still too cautious to go for too many MSRs at the same time, though. We have the CIP on its way (slow like a snail :snail:) and I am hoping we can put a significant dent in it in time for us to add a LUX card before the 125K targeted offer expires plus a rose gold card for me. I wouldn't be worried except Chase is taking it's sweet time about sending out that card...

That’s funny that you mention United. My in laws were supposed to leave for Ireland today flying with United and they said their flight got delayed because of a smell coming out of the bathroom. Like what? Lol

I’ve never heard that happening before but I would’ve been mad. That seems like a pretty dumb reason to delay a flight.

I've had a similar experience. SW seems to be a "happy" plane and United feels angry somehow. We avoid United whenever possible. I'd fly SW more if there were direct fights to where I want to go.

I like the Winnipeg jets because they used to be the Atlanta thrashers and that’s where I used to live growing up so I just kept following them when they moved back to Winnipeg. I’m not into nfl at all. Dh just started watching this season because someone at work got him into fantasy football. I’m much more into hockey and March madness.

My cousin and his wife went to Ireland march 2017 on United, and also got delayed going out... cost a day of their trip completely. Idk exactly what they got for that, I just know they used at least some of the vouchers to come to our wedding :)

My in laws are going in a group I think so I’m not sure what will happen. Idk if everyone is meeting in Ireland or if they all fly out of the same airport. That could cause some serious problems if they all meet in Ireland. They could potentially miss their tour bus.

:offtopic: but I’m more comfortable asking questions here than other threads lol. I know DVC has the gold pass, but do DVC members get discounts on Platinum Pass renewals? If so, does the renewal discount extend to household/family members?

Just my opinion, but honestly the reducing credit levels when not planning on a business/personal cross over does not make a lot of sense to me. The reason to reduce it when you have personal cards and then are going for a business card is because Chase will not cross over (they won’t take credit from personal cards and put on business). But if it is a personal card it seems to me that you don’t want to reduce it too much right away. If you decide to go for another personal if you have already reduced the CSR to 10k they won’t be able to approve you by shifting card levels. (I think CSR has to have minimum of 10k). Just seems that it is easier to have the credit and have Chase shift it around, I have moved my levels a lot back and forth, versus have existing cards and then ask for more. Something to think about at any rate. I have 6 personal cards and one business. Getting the business was difficult because of the credit extended but they still approved me. Getting the 6th personal (after the business) was fairly easy (“sure just take 5k from the 20k limit on the Freedom”).

@Lain that is lame on the Plastiq promo. I have some FFD that need to be used in November already. Maybe I will just use them now and not worry about using the promo on two different recurring payments.

But shifting credit involves calling in and talking to someone. My hope in preemptively lowering the limits is getting instant approval and avoiding human contact.:music: It's worked for us, so far!

I know! I'm working on 4k for the Aspire, while dh has to get to 5k on the Arrival+.:faint:

Got approved for GE today!

Checked on a whim this morning and found an appointment for today within an hour of looking! So I rushed to the airport (barely made it) and the interview took all of 5 minutes with a really friendly TSA agent. Fingerprints and a quick question of "So what do you do for a living?"

Looking in threads, I've noticed that TSA is really strict on having your actual full name on the flight reservation for the ticket to pull TSA pre-check. I have two middle names and my SW RR account just has my first and last name. Looks like i'll have to call SW later on to have them update my SW RR account with my middle name, and have them add my KTN on my already booked reservations. :rolleyes2

Wow! That's amazing. It was such a pain to get my GE appt. Also my TSA Agent was a bit odd (understatement), but she was nothing compared to one interviewing the poor guy sitting next to me in the office. He was a college kid and the agent didn't seem to understand that it's normal for kids in school to have a bunch of short term, part time jobs. Poor kid was there when I walked in and still there when I left.

None of us ever have our middle name on our tickets and we haven't had an issue so far. YMMV
