I love credit cards so much!

I have been reading this board for sometime and have gotten a lot of good information. Thanks everyone for all your useful information. I'm a newbie and just starting out .. I recently got the CSP card met my $4000 spend Yeepee!!, and just order the Chase freedom which has the 5x rewards for wholesale clubs this quarter. Can I buy Disney gift cards at BJ's and have that go towards my 5X rewards? Going to Disney beginning of Nov and thought it would be a great way to meet my 500 spend. and also get 5x rewards.

hit that quickly... i think BJ is currently having a 8% off Disney GCs right now.

If anyone is interested, I have a coupon code for the Chase savings $225 bonus for 15k deposit that's good for another couple weeks. I haven't seen that out in public lately and I won't be using it; we have to use the money I've been playing with for bank bonuses so holding 15k for 3 months won't work now. PM me and we can work out emails.

Just my opinion, but honestly the reducing credit levels when not planning on a business/personal cross over does not make a lot of sense to me. The reason to reduce it when you have personal cards and then are going for a business card is because Chase will not cross over (they won’t take credit from personal cards and put on business). But if it is a personal card it seems to me that you don’t want to reduce it too much right away. If you decide to go for another personal if you have already reduced the CSR to 10k they won’t be able to approve you by shifting card levels. (I think CSR has to have minimum of 10k). Just seems that it is easier to have the credit and have Chase shift it around, I have moved my levels a lot back and forth, versus have existing cards and then ask for more. Something to think about at any rate. I have 6 personal cards and one business. Getting the business was difficult because of the credit extended but they still approved me. Getting the 6th personal (after the business) was fairly easy (“sure just take 5k from the 20k limit on the Freedom”).
I'm still very new to this and have never asked to have a credit limit reduced because I haven't had the need. Still trying to figure all of this out.
But shifting credit involves calling in and talking to someone. My hope in preemptively lowering the limits is getting instant approval and avoiding human contact.:music: It's worked for us, so far!
That's kind of what I was thinking. I'd rather be able to get the instant approval than have to deal with it later.

Yes! I have 2 MSRs to meet right now so I wanted to get the CF Q4 5x "out of the way". I bought about $1650 of Disney GC's at BJs.com for about $1517 plus I got the 5x points! I think those GC's are more than enough to cover out stay at CBR in March. Pretty psyched about that.

I was just looking at my Credit Karma open dates on my cards, and I realized my oldest 5/24 card dropped off on 10/10. I was planning on applying for the CIP on 11/1, but now I'm wondering if I should go ahead and apply now? Is it safer to wait for the 1st of the month following when the last 5/24 card drops off? I don't have any huge spends I need to make right now or anything, just being impatient! :goodvibes

It would probably be safer to wait until 11/1...since you don’t have any huge spends right now.... if you applied now and Chase was still counting the card I’d think you would get an instant denial...

some morning coffee sounds nice... :P

Where do you go that charges $12 for coffee?! Even with all the hipster coffee shops around here, I think the most I've ever spent on a cup of morning joe is a little over $6.
I just did the Starbucks Masterpass deal - thanks for the reminder! $10 down, $2 to go... LOL. I'll pick up some gum or something on the way home to finish it off. :)

Now we just have DW's CIP spend to work on, until I get my next card....

I also just did the Starbucks Masterpass deal. I was also getting ready to use the Plastiq MC deal today, but looking at the numbers I don’t think it makes sense for me to do it. Our only MC is the IHG Premier. I value IHG points at about 0.67. With the fee at 2.5% I don’t think we’d break even on it. Rats. I know the terms said no MC gc’s. Has anyone tried it and had it work?

I forgot someone else already mentioned, we won’t know if it works until Nov 1. More rats.

Looks like Marriott changed the rules of the 29 ways to stay sweepstakes. You can now win points once per day. P2 and I had both done the game previously and got 50 points each. Played again today and I got another 50 points, P2 got 1,000. So definitely check it out again!

Thanks for this! Had given up.....alas 50 whopping points

The crazy heat at WDW persists. The sun is brutal.

We bagged all our plans for today and started over. Ended up rope dropping HS with a sea of humanity. Rode Slinky Dog (30 minute wait), plus Tower of Tower and Aerosmith - in and out in about 2 hours or so. Popped over to Epcot and got my passholder cutting board! Then a shower and lunch at Homecommin and now I'm in my jammies in the AC and it's 3pm. I legit might be done for the day.

Extra Magic Hours at MK last night was crazy too. Just people everywhere. We were able to get some rides but the departure with a million people was pretty miserable (like always). The heat has made people crabby tho. Parents screaming at their kids and kids fighting and hitting each other. I saw a family have a near physical altercation this morning while walking INTO HS so it wasn't even crazy hot yet. DH just shook his head and muttered "this is unreal."

Wow. Happiest Place on Earth?? :duck:

That combination of crowds and heat sound like my worst nightmare. Sorry to hear it's that way on your trip. I hope you enjoyed parts of it though.

Thanks for the heads up! I had done it for just the entry a couple of times but had forgotten about it. Just got 2,000!

Yes, they are not doing any character M&G's in the park from what I am being told now. However, we all know how things can change once they are in the parks and the kids see the characters! The lady who is my contact and main one running everything has two dd's, (13,7) and they are not into characters at all so she doesn't want that in the planning. So, this might very well be the only chance to get a pic with Mickey!!

I'm decorating the kid's MB's also and so I asked for each kid's fav character. Several gave more unique characters that you won't find meeting anywhere, much less at a meal...like Mushu, Mowgli and Dopey. BUT one kid chose Minnie, one chose Goofy and one chose pluto so if I put them at CM's, I could hit all those.

One girl chose Stitch so we'd get him at Ohana's. The other character chosen was Aurora.

If you know who is who, I would take the two you know aren't interested in characters out of the equation and go with the other kids. Though I don't understand going to WDW and not wanting being into characters, unless she just means meeting them and they would like the parades and shows. Which reminds me, I need to figure out if Stitch is still meeting in his old attraction or somewhere else in the parks.

September was our hottest month, on record, EVER. And we are obviously not participating in any hint of fall weather! We were at HS & MK this past Saturday, and while we are used to the heat, the crowds were crazy. I forgot that it's fall break for some places (since we don't actually get fall here) My husband works outside and is in attics all the time - he is always so beat at the end of the day!

I should have checked here first. I saw rumors they changed it but no one was winning points. But sure enough they have learned the error of their ways and rules now state "Limit one (1) Instant Win Prize per person, per day." and I got another 45 cents worth of points to join their earlier friends after playing just now to confirm it  Maybe I'll remember to play now every day (I think this is maybe the 4th day I've done it) like I'm sure they originally intended. (those goofballs)

Since I've already met my CIP spend (and the points are already pending, yay!), I'm anxious to get working on another MSR. I'm 90% sure we won't need URs for a year (and wouldn't benefit from the travel credit or GE/PreCheck yet), so I'm leaning towards the CSP. And of course add my clone as an "AU" :smooth:

Is it too soon to do this? I was instantly approved for the CIP on 8/21, about 2 months ago.

Right, I like Ohana's too though we have only done that b-fast once. It was nice to be served at the table and I felt the atmosphere was very laid back. Granted we were a later breakfast time but it was also not loud really at all. We've done 1900 PF three times for b-fast, and I do think that is my fav of what we have done but the lady doesn't like the time on it and if I go to a later time, they will have trouble getting back in time for DME.

I've been reading but not chiming in.

The Wave, which is in the Contemp - (at least I think you said BLT is their hotel?), has a breakfast buffet or table service, whichever you prefer. I've been there maybe 10 times for breakfast and I am always pleased with it. Low key and relaxing and not busy when I'm there usually on departure day. The only negative is the darker atmosphere but I've gotten used to that. No characters. Decent food choices. And walking distance very close to their rooms.

I've played it everyday including this morning and just got an entry...
