I get all caught up then fall so behind!

@elgerber - congrats!!! Def newsworthy!!

@schmass - ughh. So glad the bank caught it! Hope they catch the person too.

@Lain can the staples mcgcs be used on Venmo?

Marriott - wth the names are all mouthfuls. Don’t see myself using the new Lux benefit but that card is still a keeper. Will prob lose my SPG biz now. Was a keeper but now it makes the choice easier when the right time comes. Will prob keep it for a year for the FN and to keep Amex happy then lose it and free up and Amex spot.

Disney - hope it warms up for you guys and us! We will be there the 7th for 2 days and then universal the 17th. Anyone else going on feb?

swagbucks - not sure if it was mentioned here but BB is up to 3% in store so I’m using up my visa gcs I got 10% fee free from staples AMEX promo for a sweet 20.5% back.

anyone have opinions on pop vs AofA? Looking at splitting my may stay. Start at one of the fun themed values and when DH and my parents arrive, move over to YC. Is that too much work by myself with the kids for the move?
Was also thinking a 1 bedroom at AKL-J or SSR so when DD3 naps I can play a card game or something with the boys in the living room. Plus making meals for bfast and lunch would be a savings and easier with only 1 adult.
Gosh, I can't make decisions. ever.

So it’s almost time for my next app and I was planning on a United personal card, but I see the United biz card has the higher SUB. :smooth: (Me learning the new acronym lol). If I get the biz card how long before I can apply for the personal card? It would be nice to jump on it if they raise that SUB.

I considered going for the SW CP (seems late in the game), but the travel I’d use it for this year is not set in stone, so not sure it would be beneficial. Could be 20/21 or even 21/22 would be better for me (‘20 is the year of our big Europe trip so there won’t be much if any domestic travel that year).

Any advice? I’m not in a huge rush since I want to spend down my stack of $100 visa gc I got over the holiday shopping season.

Yes, but it's not very scaleable. The current deal at Staples .com is for $100 MCGC. Venmo limits you to adding 4 cards per account in a rolling 6 month period. If you burn all 4 slots on this deal, that's only $400 worth of MS for the next 6 months. I try to liquidate only $500 MCGCs via Venmo to maximize the value of those slots.

Makes sense. Are those the ones your get at the grocery store? I can’t load any visas to Venmo.

This is what I was thinking. I remember a coworker told me when she lived there she found one crawling in her baby's crib. :faint:
I think I had pushed that to the back of my mind and it popped back to the front with all this scorpion talk today.
It's fresh on my mind cause at basketball on Monday night, my friend just told me that her dh was stung getting into bed at their resort. She said it was a Marriott and they called down and someone came and sprayed and changed the bedding. Otherwise, they were not comped for a night or anything!

I would freak if I found a scorpion in my baby's crib!! House on the market the next day!

Planning to cancel both my SW cards. Bonus just posted on my Plus but no af yet. Do I need to wait for the AF to post before canceling?

Pop is cheaper...I'd do that and just use the food court at AoA. Or a 1-bdr at one of the others would be fine too! Split stays are so easy, imo, since Disney does almost everything for you.

What have you decided to do with that marriott cert? Are you considering using it offsite for one of your visits?

Keep loving your Honda’s everybody. My “P2” is a Honda engineer. :thanks:

Two of our three vehicles are Hondas :)

We are 3 for 3 in Hondas. We have one car for kids to share and that was DHs first. He upgraded from this Accord to a new Accord. Mine is an Odyssey that is not going to last much longer. I am looking at either Kia or Subaru I think to replace it. I am just not ready to get rid of the minivan though. Even though we only really have 1 kid left at home, we might still go places with all 3 of them. I am not sure I am ready to go for a 5 passenger car.

I know the US Bank issued MCGCs work. My local supermarkets used to stock these exclusively, but it seems they’ve moved towards selling Metabank MCGCs as the US Bank stock is dwindling. (I think both US Bank and Metabank MCGCs are serviced by Blackhawk.) I haven’t tried Metabank MCGCs on Venmo. Amex GCs for sure don’t work. I’d need to look up DPs for others.

PF Changs, Shake Shack and CCF are all at the same location. I decided to stick with my original plan of dinner at PF Chang’s and dessert at CCF with DS. I ended up at Smashburger to try some place new. Needless to say, I will not be back. Super pricey for what was basically McDs or even lower quality. The fries weren’t even hot when they came out.

I haven't tried Smashburger... sounds like I'm not missing much. Sorry.

The high was 55 here at home in CA yesterday and I was wearing my warm boots and snow jacket. Some people cannot cold. Imho someday science will find we're genetically defective, it's not our fault ;)

Yep. That's me, too. Were you following me around?

Has anyone ever stayed here? I am just hanging out, on yet another cold, gray, rainy day, wishing for a trip to somewhere warm...

OMG it looks soooo pretty... and then I read about the scorpions. :scared1:

love my heated seats...definitely was one of my must haves when picking out my Elantra

Same here, only I'm in a slightly warmer area.

Mine too, for the past 2 cars! DH thought it wasn't necessary when he was living in SoCal and ordering his car before he moved here-- I told him he would regret it...well guess who steals my car ALL the time and immediately puts on the seat warmers? Yep...he even turns it on for the dog:)

Yep! Years ago when we were buying a car at the end of the year, the only one that had what we wanted within 1,000 miles of us had heated seats. We kept saying we didn't need them, and the car guy was telling us how we'd love them and never buy a car without them. He was right.

GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!
Yeah, DH's mom lives in PHX and we have never been. Maybe we will take a trip out there to stay at the Hilton...errrrr, I mean visit her.:rolleyes1

MIL lives in New Mexico, and we have never visited. I scoped out a nice Hyatt resort not too far from her (but also not too close LOL), and now with all this scorpion talk I'm not so sure.

I actually had seats that cooled as well as heated. Unfortunately the cooler wasn't strong enough for black leather in Florida with the convertible top down. :car:

And...for anyone who was waiting with baited breath...my beloved Amex sent my PINK GOLD card overnight and it arrived within 25 hours.:cheer2:

Awesome customer service! You must be on AMEX's "good" list.

DD flies out tomorrow for her study abroad and will not be back till July. She is still not all the way packed, her room is a disaster and I told her we are not leaving until it is somewhat clean. Ughhhhhh AND we have not bought her return ticket yet, which she needs before she gets on the plane tomorrow, because we are still confused on when exactly she can leave! Their semester dates are soooo weird. DH is panicking. I am strangely calm.

Hang in there. It's amazing how much packing they can do at the last minute. Mine is leaving on Friday, not abroad, just the other side of the country until spring break in Europe. We won't see her until the end of May. :sad2: It's hard when they are gone for so long. I'm sorry you don't have a clear end date - that's really not good since you need a return ticket. Can you get one that you can easily change? And are you going to try to visit her?

That's a tough one! Do you plan on using the pool? If so I would say AofA could edge out Pop. If pool isn't important, than the lower rates and room renovations at Pop would get my vote.

How much different would AKL-J be? AKL has a ton of fun child activities.

I'm on my second Odyssey. My first one was 16 yo when I laid it to rest :( I loved that van, even though I bought it when it was 7yo. I liked it even more than my new one. Maybe it was because I owned my first one and this one I am leasing. I will turn it in a year from now and buy a used Pilot, most likely. I think I am ready to change styles but we will see. I'll have to see how many kids I still have at home. I do love the van for road trips and hauling stuff around. It's not uncommon for me to have my 4 kids plus a couple others (always two neighbor kids with me to church) so I will have to think through everything. Kia vans get very good reviews too!

Yikes! My dd’s study abroad was full of unanswered questions too. So nerve wracking. And we had a blizzard the day they flew out and we are an hour from the airport in ideal conditions. But we made it, she went and came back and I survived LOL. She wants to move there permanently, so there is that.

Thank goodness we saw no Scorpions in Arizona! Ick

This forecast just keeps getting better :-)
