Disney's Club Level (CL) Information & Questions

Yes they are! LOL

I forgot about Illuminations ending. I agree, that will probably have a huge crowd!

That is very strange indeed! :rolleyes1

Disney's not making it easy :rotfl::rotfl:

I had forgotten about the Illuminations ending too. We planned the Sept trip around school dates, and then I remembered it when I started to work on my spreadsheet. I had just been trying to convince my DH that I should stay solo an extra day so I could see the new show when the new AP rates came out and I was discouraged and decided to trade in for August for the better rates, lol! But between the 6am EMH at HS and the Illuminations ending, it was turning into a packed trip!

So, this morning the GV CL Poly room is still there, daring me to call and switch. It seems to know I spent the evening mentally justifying bumping up to the Lagoon View, lol! :rotfl:

I just booked a club level room at the Gran Destino Tower for August 2020. I’m looking forward to seeing photos and reports after it opens!
I tried pricing it online last night for August 2020 too. It showed no availability at all for my week. Very strange. Did you book online? I'm pretty sure we'll stay poly again but wanted to look at options. I don't even know my husband's vacation weeks yet either.

Funny how the little things turn a slow/relaxing trip into a packed/do everything trip ;).

It's calling your name.....not making it any easier for you :rotfl2:

Have fun planning :wizard:.

Nothing wrong with that :goodvibes.

I booked through a TA, but I was able to price it out online before I contacted her.

Ok, not CL related but I need your help. I can get an AP that must be activated by 12/2020 from working advantage. Its 865. I priced out my trip for next yr and the tickets I would need are 550 pp. That's a 300 difference. I would buy it just for me not the rest of my family. We always get memory maker. Our last trip we had convention tickets. Not sure how the price compares. We generally dont get the dining plan but have when it was free since we have 4 Disney adults. I'm not tied to it though. We always eat at CM, ohana breakfast and dinner, Yachtsman and trex. All have 10% off with an AP. Is it a no brainer to get the AP? How are AP resortbdiscounts in july and August? I was originally thinking AP for room discounts. Thoughts?

Are you sure it needs to be activated by 12/2020? Usually AP vouchers don't have an expiration and show 12/31/2030 when linked in MDE. With tax, the Platinum pass will also be about $924.

The 1 AP for a family can really make sense. The PhotoPass+ instead of Memory Maker is great. You will also find discounts on a lot of extras like recreational activities or tours if you are interested. Merchandise is currently getting 20% off which is also very helpful. The past few summers have actually had pretty generous AP resort rates. No guarantee it will continue next year or after SWGE, but I am hopeful we still get something. AP holders can also book a dining plan on resort reservations if you still wanted one without tickets.

The SWGE is just hard to predict.

In the past til now I do an AP FOR the room discounts . This fall ? I’m curious what they will do. Winter, spring fall? Who knows at this point.

However merch and food discounts DO add up! So maybe that helps .

The working advantage site said that but who knows. I'm going in 2020 so it doesn't really matter either way. SWGE is what throws me off and at the same time one of the main reasons we're waiting until 2020.

So confusing lol. My kids do shop a decent amount. I tend to have a hard time saying no on vacation. I think I will bite the bullet and do it.

Check the math, but as long as you break even, it will make sense.

You need to recover about $375. After Memory Maker pre-purchased with that tax, you need to recover $195. Will you spend $2,000 on table service excluding alcohol? Will you spend $1,000 on table service and $500 on merchandise? The first time I did it I plotted out my meals and actually purchased TiW because it worked on shows and alcohol and got me 20% off. I broke even from the AP upgrade and TiW purchase in less than a week for a group of adults.

Just a tiny warning... an AP will make you want to go to WDW more. The ticket is already paid for so why not? LOL I was the first passholder in my family because I had a second trip coming up with friends. That turned into me going on another trip with my family and my sister upgraded her ticket because it made sense. Then another trip with family and my mom upgraded hers because it made sense. Now we've all had passes for a few years and I have two more trips planned this year. :)

I will definitely have the AP bug but my husband only goes to Disney to appease us. I can definitely see me getting a friend food and wine trip in if I get an AP. I was just reading about TIW. We generally have a few drinks with dinner so that would be nice. I would have to price it out. I don't think we would hit 2000 at TS. It's really not much to gamble. You said 195 difference, well I definitely see saving at least a 100. So I'm basically gambling at most 95 for a good discount. In the grand scheme of what we pay for these trips, that's not much. Thanks for breaking it down for me.

Oh and if there's an after hours event during my stay I would most likely book one which gets me another savings.

A friend F&W trip would be a great use! I agree, $95 isn't too bad to gamble considering you could save an additional $60 per night compared to a general public discount! I had my first CL stay because the AP rates were just so good!

Another great use of an AP :flower1:

Is this new? I don’t remember seeing the ice cream fridge.
We stayed CL at the YC followed by the BC in June 2018. At that time the ice cream fridge in the YC was brand new and it had not yet been started at the BC. I’m pretty sure there was one in the BC within a week or 2 of our stay. So it started late May or early June 2018 at the YC and mid-late June 2018 at the BC 😊

There have been really good AP discounts for July and August. We had an AP discount for the 4th of July weekend in 2017 and AP for a trip in August. :)

Yes, the past couple years have had really nice July and August discounts, last July was my personal best discount since our first stay in 2009. Not sure what SWGE will do to discounts for the upcoming year(s) though.

Also, you can get an AP discount on things like cabana rentals if you are interested in those types of extras.

There is a AP discount for cabanas? Do you remember how much? Is this also valid at the water parks or only in the resorts?

For the resorts for sure, at least the ones at SAB that I am familiar with. Not sure about the water parks. According to those who have booked the ones at SAB the percentage off is 15% (not sure how to link specific posts but it is on page 1455 of the Y&BC thread). I have a cabana booked at SAB without the discount, because I didn't know about it at the time, and tried to have it applied yesterday but the CM was having issues doing so, but she did verify that it existed and if she couldn't get it applied that the resort could refund me the difference, others have had no issues getting the discount applied after the original booking so I am going to try again.
