I disagree. Every non churner which is pretty much most people, friends and family that I know hold multiple cards with the same bank. Prior to discovering travel hacking I held multiple cards with the same bank. A person opens up one card, gets comfortable using it and the bank issuer will begin sending them information and pre approvals on their other products. It is more likely for a person to apply with a bank they are familiar with and have a relationship with than to go exploring different bank products. Whenever someone asks me about travel hacking and I ask what cards they have,100% of the time the answer has been multiple cards with the same bank. Just my two cents and what I’ve seen. I’d be surprised with someone who doesn’t churn having different cards from different banks.
I can see that. I guess I should have said multiples of the same card or opening or closing the same cards. I know the number of cards I've opened in the last year isn't at all the norm. I'm new to this, but my impression from what I've read is that for many years it was kind of a free for all. Now the banks are clamping down and shutting down, airlines have greatly reduced award availability, hotels are increasing points needed during peak days etc. The market is flooded with points and I can see why it's not working.
